<DIV>Dumb question alert, sorry, pretty new to eq II. Is swashbucklers melee damage based off of STR or DEX? I made a high elf swash and am wondering if it will [Removed for Content] me a lot in the long run. Thanks in advance.</DIV>

<DIV>People alot smarter than I have the Agi/Str thing figured out. I personally go Str as main stat then Agi then Stam. By the time you reach ohh 60 or so your Str will probably be capped in a group/raid setting. Race does not mean a whole lot in eq2 like eq1.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Enjoy your Swash!~</DIV>

<DIV>high elf swashy is a neato choice though. Dont see many around. Strength affects the amount of damage you put out; agility affects your avoidance and power pool (as a scout). Sta affects your HP. If you look at the damage of a CA, then put on something with extra str, you can see the damage will go up.</DIV>

<P>Getting to the real heart of your question, no your race wont majorly impact your ultimate peformance as a swashbuckler. For multiple reasons. First the starter bonuses based on race are pretty insignificant in the long run. An extra say 10 pts. on a stat thats over 300 from other sources wont mean much. Secondly, all stats benefit every player regardless of class so the High Elf bonuses will be useful too, just in other areas.</P> <P>Obviously a higher strength will help your damage, but Intelligence (which High Elves do very well in) affects your poison damage and procs. Wisdom (also good for High Elves) affects spell resists. And as mentioned above, Agility is the prime stat for your power pool and helps avoidence.</P> <P>But in the long run, pick your race based on whatever excites you most on a character concept level. It will be pretty agonizing to play 70 levels with a body you cant stand looking at just for some minor stat bonus at the beginning of the game. :smileywink:</P>

<div><blockquote><hr>Keldoth wrote:you need to buff your dex so you can proc your PGT more, helps soloing<div></div><hr></blockquote>Buffing your agility will not proc your weapons anymore. Agility doesn't help with 'to-hit' numbers, that's strictly skill/level based (your skill vs the mob's level and defense).Does help soloing, if only for the weak avoidence it'll give you.Stick with strength, especially if you're mainly a grouper. Your job is to help kill the mob as fast as possible, and str is the only way to go for that goal.</div>
