So I have a swashy on a pvp server and was wondering about the use of a bow or throwing axes. Am I going to be better off using a bow or throwing axes? It seems like you can get procs and better Damage ratings on bows then using the throwing axes and a bandeloir (sp?). I guess the only real reason to use throwing axes is to use the combat ability cold throw, but is the one ability worth the lower damage rating and loss of procs? At lvl 55 I'm assuming that I'll have to use throwing axes for hail of steel though? What are you're guys' thoughts? Thanks in advance.

<DIV>Well, people will prolly disagree with me here...but. I use a bow most of the time, and here is why. The only ranged CA i use outside of raid would be artic blast. @ M1 it does 2 shots of 400-600 damage, and slow target. I feel with constrain and impare, I dont need another slow. If there was a debuff other than slow attached, there would be no arguement. I use a high delay bow to pull at least, and step back during combat with it every so often. This is only because I get shots that hit for over 2k, and they double attack like mad. That is one shot for 4k not counting poison. Now, in a long ranged raid battle, I switch for HoS and artic blast. But seriously, you cant kite in PVP. Your prolly only gonna get one shot in at a time anyhow. If your going WiS, my advice is bow, but im sure others will disagree. If not wis, then prolly sheath</DIV>

Yah I'm leaning towards getting a bow for my swashy so that he can get the extra range and harder hits. Just wondering if anyone sees a reason that I shouldn't. I.E. the throwing axes have a higher damage compenent in them that I don't know of lol. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

I think the ranged throwing attack is your highest range snare, so that might be useful or not depending on whether you usually find people outrunning you.A longbow has a longer range, though, and will typically do more damage with autoattack, so there's that advantage.<div></div>
<DIV>I'm I the only swashy not using long distance weapons?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Am I really missing out?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Personally I use a satchel, but I could see using a bow also.Honestly I use ranged so infrequently I mostly look for stats out of a ranged slot. The biggest thing for me is being able to use Hail of Steel as a pull tool, slap it on a mob then cancel it.. I do that more than any ranged attack. So, I'd vote for a satchel. I'm not overly concerned with my ranged DPS considering every fight I have to use it is pretty much zzzz simple.<div></div>

I'll stick with thrown, probably cuz my main is a Ranger...<div></div>

<P>Let me introduce you to something. It's called the Bow of Bylze, and is a reward along the Claymore line. It is a 9 delay bow with a huge damage range. Combined with Wisdom line, if double attack procs (72% of the time it will) your doing 18 seconds of ranged auto-attack instantly, factoring in the non-double attack procs, on average, you'll do 13 seconds of auto-attack in a fraction of a second, at 35 yard range.</P> <P>This is godly in pvp, period. Not only can you burst damage people before they get a chance to heal, but often when they start running with 10-30% health left, one bow shot is enough to kill them, which can easily be gotten off before they get out of range, evac, etc. You can also kite people with it a bit. Our ranged snare is good enough to do that, particularly for classes that have poor ranged capability, like Fighters.</P>

Hehe, yeah thats the one I use as well. My top hit was double attack for 2700 each! I am always slow, but....what benefit does pulling with hail of steel then cancelling have over artic blast or a bow? How does it do way more damage? Ive never thought of doing that before, so I dont know. please explain.

Doesn't do any damage, thats the point of it, no taunt really , just aggro. It also doesn't use any ammo. My concern when pulling is getting the mob to camp, not necessarily damaging it, or anything to that effect.<div></div>

<DIV>doesnt it increase your threat when you use it anyhow? Either way, its prolly less threat than with a throwing knife or hex doll</DIV>
