Power regen is pretty useless later on, I took it at first and then respecced into straight-up health as soon as I got the opportunity.

Same here, I chose all the health/sta options I could and I think its payed off quite a bit.

Why health? To survive larger aoes? With only ft 5 on my gear, I find that power regen trait still comes in useful for me. It delays my need to switch to Mental breech on raids. I don't always have the luxury of a mana battery in group.

i took power regen as even with a pwer regen in grp and drinking our MT pulls too fast in raids so in-combat pwer regen ftw.

So you get a total of 150 power per minute, which barely does crap for me at least.Compare to the power poison which is roughly 210 FT.I dunno, maybe you're much better than me at power conservation but I prefer an extra 10% health for survivability. Actually, in a lot of cases the straight-up power pool increase is better for you than the FT increase if you're not chain pulling or doing extremely long fights.

I've been pondering the health vs. power vs. power regen respec as of late, too. I see conflicting opinions of a few swashies on here, and these folks have always given good advice, so I'm still not respecing! As I've started to raid more, I find myself thinking that I need a bit more health to survive the aoes....but....I also find myself low on power after big fights because I'm button mashing. >.<

Then comes the whole STR vs. AGI vs. STA debate that ties in with health and power. Everyone always said "GO STR!!", so I went STR. When I ran out of STR options...I figured that..hey...if I'm not getting hit because the MT is getting beat on, why do I need the health? It's all about having power to button mash! Then the raid mobs started to AoE...and I started to find myself not surviving the AoEs. Now that I think about it, if I don't have health, I don't have power, 'cause I'm dead from the AoE. If I'm alive after the AoE, I'm still doing some auto attack damage. I can always get gear to get my STR near the cap with a few more relic pieces, but my STA numbers are lacking. I'm almost to the point of trying to balance all 3 stats....I think....honestly, I don't know what to do...so that is why I've not done a respec yet.

Max Power

In combat power

Honestly most of the AE'S in this tier are not what i would call scout killers. Some can hit hard but if you have decent resists and a good healer or two to do group/spot heals you should be fine.

Maybe im way out in left field here with my thoughts... But its hard for me as dps class to take health over powa

Message Edited by Gusta on 06-27-2006 02:53 AM

well i went max health and dont feel too gimped by it, i may get a free respec at some point if i feel its the wrong choice.

but even soloing and grouping i rarely run out of power even at this level unless im spamming CAs that dont need using (like the dirty tricks line, which is power hungry, short re-use longer duration).

There's really only a handful of mobs that'll run me out of power on raids, and a lot of times I'm not even running with any special power regen classes. On those mobs, the extra regen would give me something like three or four more attacks total before I had to switch over to the power poison. The extra five or ten seconds of autoattack with damage poison doesn't add up to enough for me to care about it.Obviously there's exceptions, like if you're running with a raid that never stops pulling, you might have a stronger inclination towards power regen... but that's the exception rather than the rule, and if you're in one of those guilds, you probably wouldn't be asking Plus, the extra health has helped me training through places like Sanctum and soloing different parts of the Claymore quest where it came down to the wire. It's probably saved my bacon on a raid or two as well when someone was slow curing a DoT, but those are pretty few and far between as well.

I carry a gazillion different poisons/potions around with me at all times. I think I've got like 2 bags worth at all times for each specific need that arrises. For the few times I start to get low on power, I'll slap on a power sapping poison for a couple of minutes to finish out the fight, keep my mana stone going which helps a tad. In raid situations, hearts should be passed out non-stop for extreme situations. Power is rarely an issue for me. But what does help is that extra health. Sometimes you get by some unexpected adds or have to help with crowd control, occasionally taking aggro for a moment. I'm certain the max health has helped in many many situations.
Message Edited by Krontak on 06-27-2006 07:51 AM
