View Full Version : Poison go mad again?

<DIV>Before they changed procs last year, I used to go through vial after vial after vial both when raiding and grouping, especially whenever using hurricane. Then when they changed the procs I could all of a sudden get through a whole raid zone, like gates or court, with using only one single application of poison and I even started losing apps because of the times *boggles*. After a while it seemed to even out, a stack would last a good while but not forever, pretty comfy really *grins*. Whilst raiding last night for first time after them fixing autoattack bug it felt like I was back at early DoF usage tho, I put on poison just before we headed into Lyceum and it ran out before we were through the first corridor and I was all out of poison before we done. Now, Im an AE maniac, so I expect a bit higher poison use then most of the other scouts, last night was extreme tho and even the other scouts remarked on how fast their poison went out. Has anyone else noted any change in this, or might it have been just a fluke? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

Yeah I've been going through poison like candy lately. But really couldnt tell if it was due to a change in how poisons work, or a change in what I've been doing lately, which involved much more raiding than usual.

Yes I seem to be burning though poisons pretty quickly myself. My weapon has a proc that goes off 12% and seems to go off alot more with this recent Auto-Attack update. I know 12% is abit higher then most procs but it goes off like 8-9 times or more in a named kill. I was thinking it was becuase of my AA with the Double-Attack, but wasnt too sure.

That's 40 normalized chances to proc, and if you're at 100% haste that raises it up to 80 normalized chances to proc. We'll also assume you're just autoattacking (using CAs should theoretically raise this number up, but might lower it a bit if you're missing a holy crapton of autoattacks). You have 12% proc so there's an 88% chance of it not procing on each of these normalized attacks. The odds of getting Z procs then is (.12)^Z * (.8<img src="/smilies/b2eb59423fbf5fa39342041237025880.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />^(80-Z) * comb(80,Z). Just to explain real quick you multiply together percents to get their odds of happening together, and there are Z things that have a 12% chance of happening and 80 - Z things that have an 88% chance of happening. Comb(80,Z) is the number of combinations of 80 things Z at a time -- it means the number of ways of arranging those Z procs among the 80 different hits.Anyway if you add these probabilities together you can calculate that you have a 39.5% chance of getting eight to ten procs under these conditions. Not bad odds <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></div>

So the number of procs is lowered?  I didnt realize that happened, but that makes sense.  I was afraid that maybe i was getting too many procs now and just burning it up. <div></div>
