My swashbuckler is getting close to 50, I duo w/ my wifes mystic. Currently going down the STA line but choose to duel wield for the time being. I am about 5 points shy of the final STA ability but I have really been looking at the WIS line. It would seem avoiding/parrying an attack is better the mitigating it. I really like doing DPS and the WIS line has that with the added survivablity of parry/dodge etc. bounses.

Any of you swashies that may have gone down both lines could tell me your expiernce's? I don't really ever plan on trying to be MT in groups but like being able to survive against low end blue con names like I can now with my wife.

To me it seems like WIS line offers nice DPS and good survivablity, and with the bounses to your offensvie skills you could go def stance and suffer much less of penalty.

Wis provides 8% parry/ripost in all quadrants. This is comparable to using a Handcrafter or Treasured round shield. With a Legendary or Fabled shield of the right tier, you get move avoidance. From that stand point, Sta line provides better protection from the frontal arc since shield don't help from behind. Looking at the final skills, Coule provides around 5% avoidance and the final Sta ability provides 5% mitigation. Personally I prefer mitigation over avoidance though. The next point to analyse is that to max defence through wis line you have to do 4-4-8-4-8 while with sta you only need 4-4-4-4-8 so you spend 4 less achievement points. You might actualy want to try str line as follows first. 4-4-8 to get the defensive bonus. This allows you to continue using dual wield while getting some defensive bonuses until you figure out how you spend the rest of your points. As a non raider, both Sta and Wis are valid and have their advantages and dis-advantages.

I would suggest that you stick with mitigation as your primary goal..and add in avoidance when you can...

I would go STA / STR if you plan on tanking constantly. Defense from STR along with the offensive bonus is nice. STA / WIS you waste one or the other by comboing those two, so you want to pick one or the other I would say.

I am a Stamina Spec brigand who duos with a Templar. I am a few points shy of the las skill but keep in mind one of the big points of the Stamina line is the Taunts. The extra health and mitigation help too but it is really the group taunt and then the eventual reactive taunt that make this line.

If you want to tank, if even for a duo, Stamina line is the way to go. Don't get me wrong you can tank without Stamina line but it makes life a lot easier.

If you want to do damage while you tank go Str/Sta as then you get the extra damage from the Str line.

I can not decide though if increasing chance of crit works aout better then just flat out increase to dps from stamina line.
