I dunno, stars, knives are very rogue-ish.  At least as much as a bow is I would say. I see a lot of Swash that use bows and just ignore our CAs - I really dunno why they'd do that but hey, what do I know. <div></div>

I never use the one ranged CA except maybe when soloing. Even then, going stealth and starting with stealth attack and backstab is usually more efficient than starting with a kite. I checked bows over the weekend and they have a lil better stats than the sheath I use for knives. Tough choice.<div></div>

<P>I solo alot and use the ranged CA all the time and love it.  I upgraded the final version to Adept III and haven't regretted it.  Does great damage and still leaves your positionals up for use later in the fight.  While it is true you can technically get more upfront burst damage from opening with a backstab, your preventing yourself from using them again for 30 secs.  Not to mention that backstab position can be problematic in an aggro-heavy area.</P> <P>IMO it just seems more efficient to use the high damage ranged CA to pull.  If mob is even or down arrow then just cheap shot and get off all your back attacks (although this may be more problematic after LU24).  If tougher mob, I just use my autoattack off/mez/hideaway macro and proceed with positionals.  This allows you to use all your attacks including the ranged, which is wasted if you proceed directly to melee. </P>

Being the alt of a Ranger, I find it very natural to pull with my thrown CA. It lets me pick which target I want and pull them ta a 'safe' area. I can then stun and get in my back attacks (until the update goes through). I use it in group to get tha first bit of damage in before I close to melee... <div></div>

Naw, bows are too pedestrian for rogues. Throwing weapons are much more distinctive.Even with your second ranged combat art, Hail of Steel, though, you'll be pretty ineffective at range. Even when I first got it and immediately upgraded it to Adept 3, using Hail of Steel gives me half the DPS of being in melee range with none of the debuffs. I honestly wouldn't lose much if I switched to using a bow besides style.<div></div>

Aye depending on the aggro area I decide either steath and backstabs or ranged/stuns/backstabs.. unfortunately the range for throwing weapons is not that long but when soloing you can live with it. Hail of steel - I don't use it much but with some mad aoe mobs (HoF) where tank has requested ALL to stay back I've used and still felt I contributed to the fight. <div></div>

<P>I like the style of thrown weapons for rogues far more than bows. The only thing I miss about bows is the crafted stats.</P> <P>I use our ranged CA quite a lot with my swashbuckler depending on the situation, as it does a fair amount of damage. On my baby PvP brigand I use it a lot (in groups, not just solo or in PvP) due to the stun element.</P>

There are some 'alternate' uses for Hail of Steel which I will let you figure out yourself. But this is a great jousting ability during raids. And when used as designed on raids you can ussually get 2-3 shots minimum in while jousting.... thats over 3k damage done while you were sitting on your [Removed for Content] waiting for the MT to call dps back in. Useless ability... i think not.<div></div>

I normally don't use my CA's except when jousting or fighting ranged away from aoe's... but lately I have been playing with them since I updated Hail of Steel to Master I.  I also parse ALOT and our ranged CA's can't compare to our melee dps, but if you add them to our melee dps, they can add a substantial amount.  On raids, I'm typically the aggro transfer for the main tank or secondary tank, and when jousting, our dps goes down quite a bit if you don't use those ranged CA's.  The added aggro buildup that Hail of Steel offers does aid in giving aggro to the tank during raids.  Of course, it's still not enough to hold off a conjuror and pet pre LU24, and who knows how it will work post LU24.<div></div>

Well, I usually stay in melee range unless it's an absolutely essential AE (one that'll kill me or spawn adds -- there's only several in the game). If I'm out of range for a long time generally I'll try popping a hex on.I still stand by that I think with the legendary throwing satchel, T7 ammo, poisons, full haste and full DPS, my regular ranged autoattack is probably going to be putting out more than HoS. I'll have to try parsing it sometime. If you switched over and used a legendary bow it'd probably work out even better.<div></div>

Cycling HoS M1, Arctic Blast M1 and auto attack with Razorwing's Bandoleer (74 dmg rating) and T7 knives, I can usually do constant 500-700 DPS over long fights.  I usually outparse Assassin's who are using Grizzlefazzle, so I'm pretty happy with our ranged dps.  HOS outdoes auto attack most of the time and double attack is even bugged to work on ranged, sooo.  But that is master 1 level. Considering how rarely I use it.. lets see, Corsolander, Sharti, haven't been to DT yet ~ <div></div>
