<DIV>My friend has recently started playing EQ due to me nagging him constantly. He plays a swashy and he is now lvl 20 and loving it I play my pally and mentor down to help him out.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The thing that is puzzling me is at lvl 20 his avoidence is 0.0% ? This can not be right, or is it ? Having not played a swashy I'm not sure what it should be but I thought scouts were avoidence class.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Hopeing some of you experienced swashy's could shed some light on this for me please. His agility is at 65 if I remember right.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks for taking the time to read this</DIV>

He needs to solo some and get his defense and parry back up to max where they should be.   If you are grouping constantly with a scout your defense and parry will not go up which is where all your avoidance comes from.

<DIV>stupid forum grr</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>as said the main part of avoidance comes from your parry and defense scores get them back over 3/4 and the avoidance will jump up</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>other factors, stance, shield, type of armour.</DIV>

<P>Thanks for the replies <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> </P> <P>So basicaly it comes down to the fact he is not soloing enough ? I thought your avoidence was directly related to your agility shows how much I know <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>

Avoidance is directly related to a couple things:1. Your Defense skill. These can be raised with certain items that add +defense and stuff like that, but the defense skill is like slashing, swimming, or something like that -- unless you use it, it doesn't go up. So if you're not going to be hit, your defense skill is not raising. If your defense skill is not raising, your avoidance is going to be crap. So first, to have any appreciable avoidance, you're going to need to either solo or tank a small group where you get hit often and cause your defense skill to raise.2. Parry skill. I should know this, but I'm honestly not sure if it raises by itself or if you need to use it like defense. Other than that it's the same exact thing.3. AGI. Raises your avoidance all around and is also directly tied to your power pool. Nice to have.4. Shields. The shield factor on shields goes directly to your avoidance (has nothing to do with mitigation).<div></div>

<P>One other thing to note is that your avoidance % will increase <EM>during</EM> your level.</P> <P>Plucking example figures completely out of the air: it may start at 20% right after you ding 40 and gradually increase to 35% by the end of your level, then plummet back to 20% again when you ding 41.</P> <P>The reason is that your avoidance % is not a set figure (like mitigation), it's your % chance to avoid hits from a mob of <EM>your current level. </EM>However, you will gain 5 points in your defensive skills during your level, while your "virtual attacker" stays at the same skill throughout the level and doesn't scale to match.</P> <P>For this reason, don't put too much faith in avoidance % ... but you were right to worry about a 0% avoidance! <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>
