Do you think about it as more of a rogue, mercenary, or both?Just wondering how you all play your swash. Mine is more of a rogue but I'm certainly not a coward.<div></div>

I have more modern influences for my swashbuckler. James Bond and Indiana Jones. Both end up getting the girl (a different one everytime we see them, no less!, and are always ready with a rather snappy quip. They also are ready to fight using a combo of brains and brawn, and often pull off impossible escapes. One might consider adding Indiana jones father to the list, as he bed a younger woman before his son did. But lets face it, he had the advantage of sounding like sean connery and she was seemingly of easy virtue. That being said, Vera is a mix of mercanary sword for higher and treasure hunter.<div></div>

Everyone's a slave or gots the huge problems or is a vampire or the last vah'shir or is descended from a famous person. It's fun to be the wisecracking swordsman, and hey, who says that's all that lies beneath the exterior, hehe. Bond is a fairly simple character, but if you've seen his history it's a little more complicated than just completing the mission and getting the girl. It's more of an escape from attachment.</span></div>

I always thought (or felt) that the combination was more "brains and agility" than brains and brawn. Seems more fitting to the rogue class; the [Removed for Content] kind of rogue character <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

<div></div>I tend to think Erol Flynn or D'Artagnon. But for my Swashy in-game, I am building him and RPing him as a light-armored mercenary (going STR and STA AAs to support it). Definitely not a thievy catburglar or pirate.

<div></div><div></div><b>swashbuckler1</b> <b>:</b> a swaggering or daring soldier or adventurerSo you can do what you want for this, a merc, a corsair (which is a um..."dashing pirate" ) , etc.The catch is though that they are daring and swaggering....so this means no matter what background you choose you should hopefully see yourself as/RP (if you do):Swagger<b>1</b> <b>:</b> to conduct oneself in an arrogant or superciliously pompous manner; <i>especially</i> <b>:</b> to walk with an air of overbearing self-confidence<b>2</b> <b>: <a href="http://www.webster.com/dictionary/boast" target="_blank"><font size="-1">BOAST</font></a>, <a href="http://www.webster.com/dictionary/brag" target="_blank"><font size="-1">BRAG</font></a>Daring</b><b>:</b> venturesomely bold in action or thoughtSo.... in conclusion...We are bold stuck-up heroes.<span>:smileyvery-happy:</span><div></div><p>Message Edited by CaptainDaveyJones on <span class="date_text">03-27-2006</span><span class="time_text">01:58 PM</span></p><p>Message Edited by CaptainDaveyJones on <span class="date_text">03-27-2006</span><span class="time_text">01:58 PM</span></p>

Alice Deeh is a cheeky, cute, innocent-looking-until-you-see-her-twigs, female gnome swashbuckler. She prefers to act nicely, make jokes, likes to lead her friends sneaking past Epic Monsters, but when all hell breaks loose, well, ALL hell breaks loose! Where did those sabres come from? They looked like mere knitting needles before! And they're poisoned too! Who would have thought?<div></div>
<div></div><div>Swashbuckler AKA Pirate hehe atleast i think so</div><div> </div><div>just started my swashy and got great plans for him.</div><div> </div><div>step one create him as a humen with mustach</div><div> </div><div>step 2 get WIS & STR line in AA</div><div> </div><div>Step 3 get him a good saber</div><div> </div><div>Step 4 get him black or red pants with a white tunic and white arm can be red or black aswell</div><div>and a pair of Brown or Black boots (a tree leg would rock if there where any)</div><div> </div><div>step 4 Class hat</div><div> </div><div>step 5 get a thing to cover my left or right eye and hook on my left hand</div><div> </div><div>Hhehe there you got it my dream swashy</div>

<div></div> Definitley the rogue for me. Though more influenced by the Three Musketeers than most any other source as my inspiration.

<div></div>My influences would include the fabulous dual wielding female character in the Water Margins, whose name I don't know how to spell, Rani Lakshmibai of India, Boudicca of course, a touch of cyber-punk razorgirl...oh, and Minnie the Minx. <span>:womanvery-happy:</span><div></div>

<div>'Do it the honest way, unless it's more difficult or there's more coin to be had' pretty much wraps up the way I play my swashy. He has his own sense of honor and is intensely loyal to his friends. But, if you're not on that list, you may find a knife in your back and your coin purse missing. Definitely a sword for hire when the mood strikes him, but quips, baudy jokes and downright insults if you screw up are part and parcel of the contract.</div>

<div></div><div>Modern swashbuckler influence to me would definitely be Lara Croft of Tomb Raider. I also like Madmartigan in the movie "Willow."</div><p>Message Edited by Ryusaru on <span class="date_text">04-10-2006</span><span class="time_text">12:50 PM</span></p>

Interesting info about the origin of the term swashbuckler.Swashbuckler is a term that came about in the 16th century and was applied to rough, noisy and boastful swordsmen. It came about due to the popularity of the fighting style using a side-sword with a buckler in the off-hand, which was filled with much "swashing and making a noise on the buckler"

<DIV>I always thought of swashys as the guy Orlando Bloom played in Pirates... or the lead char in the Princess Bride ( not montoya, the other)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Coincidently, I always thought of brigands as Captain Jack Sparrow, with a bit of Garret from the early THIEF games.
