<div> I recall when I played SWG they had people who would put together sort of a complete manual on how the class worked. It would include things like the role of the class, the skills, best place to solo etc. I have not seen a compiled version like that here yet. Many different times Ive seen partial things like that but not a fully detailed almost manual.</div><div> </div><div> Now I am not suggesting I am the best person to do this. First of all I am only level 39 so far and have yet to even really try poisions. What I am suggesting is that maybe we could pull together and make something like this. I was thinking a format of something like...</div><div> </div><div> The new swashbuckler ( Introduction to the basics )</div><div> Our Role in a group</div><div> Solo</div><div> Skill lists</div><div> AA suggestions</div><div> Where to hunt</div><div> Poisons</div><div> Gear</div><div> RP ( for those that care some ideas are welcome.)</div><div> </div><div> Now there may be a much better way to lay this out. But Id like to just get something started. So we could just have people respond with suggestion to the above mentioned topics in their reply state what they are adding to. Then we can go back and edit and add it all into one nice document eventually.</div><div> </div><div> Of course it would need to be updated and maintained but at least a basic thing like this would probably be greatly appreciated by new and some old players alike. If there is anyone that feels they are really good at organizing the info id be glad for the help. Plus I dont know how to do all those nice colored titles and such that seem to make it all look so official lol.</div><div> </div><div> Faade Bladesong Swashbuckler Lucan D'lere lvl 39</div>

<div></div><p>Well, I for one think our main role in a group is too add some much needed grace and style.</p><p>We can also deal a lot of damage, debuff like crazy, emergency mez, group invis and evac. But grace and style foremost. :smileyhappy:</p><p>Lunette</p>

<div></div>I've always thought of my swashie as the plucky comic relief...

<div></div> Well plucky comic relief is an RP role thats for sure. Though I thought since I see so many different posts over time for this and that id have a few more interested in compiling the info.

<div></div> Hmm, I did that once sort of. had three scouts in the group and I and my wife have a pretty good safe fall number. I think it was Vhalens tower, we jumped just because we could. The other scout hadnt gone the extra mile to work her safe fall up... Its kind of funny when they splat. She had a good sense of humour about it anyway : )

<div></div> All this talk of jumping from high points make me think we scout classes have a possible tactic in hilly combat with say some tanks PVPing... A quick get away that if the enemy does follow they may live but will be substantially weaker... : )

My favorite splat was when I had a full group in living tombs, only the warden without invis. She had me on follow using my group stealth. I jumped off one of the aquaducts, but landed on the edge of the pool to work on safe fall. Unfortunately, the warden also landed on the edge. <span>:smileysurprised:</span><div></div>

I'm from SWG too and it's really quite odd that there isn't any guides or anything on any of the forums here. You can pretty much find whatever information you're looking for on these forums but it's certainly no easy task. For most of my questions I have to use the search field and then rummage through a tons of threads for whatever tiny bit of undetailed info I can find as where on SWG forums... You pretty much go to the board and there is a several stickes of helpful, fully detailed guides available.I have to always use ogaming and other third party sites as well, with SWG the forums had all the info I ever needed.I pretty much learned the Swashie way on my own through trial and error but for new Swashies it would certainly be helpful. And /agree.. The swashie is always the oddball in the group, the clown. My Swashie is always running around topless talking about Britney Spears and TV and the left over pizzza he is going to be eating while watching Full House and 8 Simple Rules reruns.<div></div>

Otherwise, you are gimping yourself. I don't parse combat logs, but just playing the game it's very obvious to me how much of a difference that poison damage makes to every battle.I prefer to use a good damage poison. They come in three flavors (high/low, medium/medium, low/high), but all three flavors do the trick. I usually have a medium/medium up. I also like to have a poison resist debuff up to go with it. I also like melee debuffs. If I spent more time grouped with finger wigglers, I would use magic resists debuffers. We have all kinds of debuff poisons available, pick the one that will best serve the group you are in.And don't forget buffing potions while you're at it.</span></div>

<div></div><p>A few things on soloing --</p><p>Cheap Shot, Lie Low, Ambuscade, and Disarming Grin are your friends.</p><p>Sure you don't need the hate reduction from Lie Low while soloing, but it also works as a fast cast stealth, meaning you can use the stealth only Ambuscade in the middle of a fight (since it doesn't have a very long recast.) If you get the timing right, it's not hard to pull off the following line of attacks in the middle of a fight on an arrow down mob -- cheap shot, run through mob, two positional attacks, lie low, ambuscade. This gives you a much longer time of the mob being stunned -- aka less time of the mob hitting you.</p><p>Tired of cheap shot not lasting long enough on ^ mobs? Disarming grin is your new best friend. Turn off auto-attack, cast disarming grin, cast lie low while running behind mob, and then ambuscade for a stun that lasts long enough to get at least two positional attacks before the stun wears off.</p><p>A lot of people know about these two tactics, but it still surprises me how many swashies I run across in game who never heard of them.</p><p>-- Don't forget about totems. The health and power regen totem buffs going on top of food and drink can make a huge impact on having less downtime between fights.</p><p>-- Yes, poisons really are worth using. Even if it's the just the cheap vendor bought poison, every extra bit of damage can help in tearing through those mobs faster.</p>
<div></div><p>Also, there is a lvl 60+ poison which has very large upfront damage and no DoT effect, excellent for soloing and using Disarming Grin.</p><p>Can also do this combo.</p><p>Brazening -> -> Guile -> Lung Puncture -> Disarming Grin -> Brazening -> Guile -> Pillage -> Flurry -> Cheap Shot -> Uncanny</p><p>This covers the first 15 seconds or so of combat, and the mob is yet to hit you, and all your big attack have landed.</p>

If you use Lie Low and queue up Ambuscade immediately after, the attack will go through before the mob has a chance to break your invis. This also works for our normal invis + Ambuscade also.</p><p> </p>

Could be a slight lag thing, could be the type of mob and how fast they're hitting. I do cue Ambuscade up immediately, but without a mez or stun going, I tend to only pull it off 1 of every 4 times. Hmm.

I think it is in fact timing related but I do this a lot with success. Its even better if you are duoing with a lower level mage... it really scares the crap out of them as the mob comes running at them and then gets stunned and beaten down hard. Make sure you snare first and taunt afterward <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>
