I know you folks are probably getting tired of the endless AA questions that keep popping up on this forum, but I've just gotten cornfused by it all. I'm to the point that I'll have 50 AA points, and will have only spent 1 on the pickpocketing one. =P

What I want for my swashy, whether these options exist for what I would like, I don't know...here's my playstyle:

I don't want to be a light/backup tank.

I don't want to have to use a one handed weapon and a shield, then sometimes equip a dual wield weapon combo.

I want to do moderate dps and debuff the raid mobs. I like the challenge of jousting and being able to use my throwing combat arts in combination with the jousting.

I've heard that we can get a fake death skill, which would rock for rezzing a wiped raid and there isn't a monk around.

I don't solo very much, unless I'm doing easy writ mobs.

I always group with at least 1 plate tank, so my hate transfer buff is on him. Obviously, this doesn't apply to raiding, since they never stick a swashy in the MT group.

I use legendary poisons, thanks to my alchemist buddy.

Any advice from the experienced (raiding) swashies is greatly appreciated.

Message Edited by Oxie on 03-01-200602:27 PM

Well you have simplified your choices immensely.

Wisdom and STA are out since you don't want to use a 1H.

If you want Fake Death you need to go the Int line - and all the way to the top. I see very little point in taking any of the abilities beyond level 4 so that's 25 points which leaves you with 25 more.

Your basic choices are now between Str and Agi.

Two options you can look at:

STR all the way to the top - + more crits. This is the STR line. You will do more DPS. The danger here is with your raid leader not liking STR 5. Check with your raid leader - this ability can make or destroy a raid potentially so you better ask him first if he'd ever let you use it (otherwise it's a waste of 8 points) - this is +4 STR, +4 Crit Debuff, +4 Def, + 5 Crit Hits + 8 increase timer

AGI - +4 AGI, +4 Walk the Plank, +4 Speed, +8 Damage Proc, +5 Str - The damage proc is really nice (16% chance for extra attack all the time), the rest of it isn't so good.

If you want to max dps (for dual wields) - forget fake death and try this:

STR + 8, Debuff Crit +8, Def + 4, More Crit + 8, Agi + 4, Walk Plank +6, Speed +4, Proc +8

This will give you maximum Strength, Maximum Critical Hits, Maximum additional Proc and 2 more hits which are close to max.

I wouldn't put more than the required 4 points into str cause you will probably be capped in str (at least in t7) easily. With normal equipment at 62 I have just over 400 str. One buff from pretty much anybody at that lvl will put you at cap or over. In a pick up group the other day had over 550 str. At least in t7 str is very easy to come by and you don't really have to try to max it out it just does. So I would suggest upping things that you cannot get buffed like crit chance mob debuff on crits etc.

Just my oberservations and others might be different

Nashar Spinecutter

62 swash of guk

Is this for the swapping, the shield or the one handed? The reason I ask is cause ye say ye wanna do dps and debuff on raids, and unless SoE changed their mind totally, the boss mobs will be orange at level 70. Im a raiding focused swashie, and from looking at all choises im goin full wisdom line due to the real nice boost in skills from the final branch. No one can really say what the best choise is till all variations are tried out but my experience from DoF was that I am debuff first, dps second and that means my debuffs HAVE TO stick.

All end branches have somethin nice, but I just aint impressed with the other ones..

Str line: My fianceé is responsible for calling AEs, he'd never speak to me again if I mess up with the timing and wipe us *grins*

Sta line: Increased hate... er, not good in a raid unless ye like laying dead

Int line: looks good at first, 3 min recast and 30s duration makes it a bit limited and its very rare a full raid has no other class with better FD

Agi line: First glance, looks nice, then see its recovery and casting it affects. I cant remember any CA taking more then 2s (swathe line for example) and our recovery is so short as it is. For a casting class this is great, or a melee class its not useless, but hardly extremely valuable.

What I will most likely do as someone with similar playstyle, is put 4 points in all wis to get Coule, then toss some into str and divide the final points between double attacks and some str skills. As long as ye dun respec them prior, ye can redo it all later for 1s at the library.

Then again, this is just how I see my swashie and we are such a versatile class that we can go in almost any direction we want.

Best of luck to all swashies with their future choises!
