I didnt want to hijak the other aa weapon thread so started a new one:

I would really like a list of comfired weapons for rapier ... I know that Silverthorn does not count as a rapier for Walk the Plank AA. Anything with Rapier in the name has worked so far. People want to chime in with weapons that worked for that AA?

MaestroX wrote:

I posted this in the Looooong Rogue AA post.

The current thinking from the Brigand channel is:

Sword= 1H or DW slashing including wips

Rapier= 1H or DW long pierce, including Dark Fury sabre, which is what got me interested in this subject.

Not sure what long pierce is

Dagger= 1H or DW short pierce

The Dark Fury sabre is the only weapon I've tried so far (and it worked, and mentioned in the quote in the post). The Silverthorn looks too short to be considered a rapier; It might be a dagger.

Weapons not only have a damage type (slash, pierce, crush) but an associated weapon skill (sword, rapier, dagger, etc.).

I believe this is still true of all weapons, although this detail was long ago removed from Examine information on items and the actual weapon skills were removed from characters. (Now we only have skills with the damage type, while the weapon type makes no difference). Only older weapons display this information on the EQ2Players site.

For piercing, the only weapon types are: dagger, rapier, spear, great spear.

All piercing weapons fall into one of those four categories. Spear and great spear are pretty obvious (spears are 1H, great spears are 2H). So the remainder are all either rapiers or daggers. As mentioned above, rapiers are the longer ones, daggers the shorter ones -- no surprises there! Silverthorn has an ornate basket but only a short blade, making it a dagger.

Rapiers include: rapiers, sabres, epees, foils, cutlasses (ugh), etc.

Daggers include: daggers, knives, dirks, shivs, stilettos, sai, parrying blades etc. (and most anything referring to short things that point, poke or stab, such as a fang)

Similar is true for slashing weapons; the weapon types are: sword, great sword, axe, great axe

And for crushing weapons: hammer, great hammer, staff, fists

... though obviously most of those are irrelevant to our AAs. Swords are 1H, while great swords are typically 2H. Not all great swords are 2H (e.g. flamberge), though the 1H great swords may have class restrictions that prevent us from using them (pretty sure we can't wield a flamberge).

Swords include: swords, longswords, short swords, scimitars, falchions, spathas, kukris, whips, etc.

Hope that helps at all.
