<div>Hey,</div><div>Newb Swashie here. I am at lvl 9 tradskilling unable to advance until I pick my artisan subclass. I want to know what would be a good tradeskill for a casual, often soloing Swashie. I assume either Alchemy, Jeweler, or perhaps a Weaponsmith? Jeweler is the most obvious choice in order to make Swashie runes. What are the opinions on some of my fellow Swashies as far as making things that will be personally useful as well as perhaps making some $$ on the side?</div><div>Thanks.</div>
<div>Personally, for anyone soloing, Provisioner is the way to go. Food is expensive and on the plus side always in demand. For scouts, jeweler would be next best. With the amount of spell upgrades and the ability to fill 7 (or is it 8?) of your slots, that'll save you a lot of money. Poison costs really aren't an issue unless you're raiding. I used 1 vial from 10-19, 2 from 20-29, and about 2.5 from 30-39. Although that was strictly with damage poison only. You could get more use if you continually used the utility poisons. As for weaponsmith, I'd pick armorer over weaponsmith simply because there's more slots to fill per tier. Armorer gets 6 whereas you're looking at only 2 for a weaponsmith, 3 if you like to use a 1-hander/shield combo too.</div><div> </div><div>But on the other hand, gotta pick what you enjoy making the most. I always love it when I'm out with my fury/alchemist and I pass around a vial of rare poison for the scouts in group. One hit and they're hooked for life (feel like a drug dealer sometimes!).</div>

<div>I agree with Rish. Food and drink, over the long haul, will cost you more than poisons, so perhaps choose provisioner over alchemist. Race should play a part in your decision. If you are Ayr'Dal, for example, (Half Elf,) you should choose jeweller to take advantage of their racial bonus. Feir'Dal (Wood Elf) can get a nice racial bonus for provisioners. Humans get the racial bonus choice Metallurgy, and so make excellent armorers; you cannot wear the armor, but you can certainly sell it. These are just races with which I am familiar. If your swashy is of some other race, investigate their racial bonuses and consider the possibilities. Racial bonuses are not all-important determiners of a craft to choose, but they do ease a crafter's toil. If you're just starting your character, take advantage of the opportunity at low levels to try several trade skills by making a variety of items before choosing one line of work permanently.</div>
