nah brigs are getting AR (amazing reflexes= aoe immunity) nerfed a bit. (though its not going to kill the class, and niether do any of the brigs in my guild) hopefully KoS wont have every mob cast 47 aoe's but time will tell.we do slightly more dmg than them in melee and i believe our recast timers are a bit shorter. over all the two classes are pretty comparible, just diff debuffs and ranged attacks.

If you solo a lot, then Brigs have a slight edge there. If you group a lot, Swashies have a slight edge there I think. Brigand stuns help a lot. They have more positional attacks than Swashbucklers, but their stuns mean they can nearly always get them in. And Ruse helps a lot soloing. Also stuns help against single opponents where mez doesn't really.... I use my stuns continuously, and gain the mitigation of non-attack from them; mez is situational.

For straight up damage or AoE situations, Swashbucklers have an advantage. Swashbucklers also get a straight mitigation debuff earlier on which Brigands don't get to debuff until later, although most other debuffs Brigands have a significantly heavier version of than a Swashbuckler.

Brigands because their timers are a little slower, are also slightly less "spammy", which you'll like or dislike depending on your taste.

These are all slight things. And these are only the opinions of a 42nd lvl Brigand... there's aspects of higher level play of which I'd be ignorant.

When betrayal comes out I might well move to Swashbuckler as while I soloed a lot previously it's dungeons and groups that I'm increasingly interested in.

Be sure you know why you want to change to a Brigand (or indeed from Brig to Swashie) before you do so. Brigands are a lot of fun, but unless there's something that draws you to it, it's unlikely to offer you more than you already have..... if you solo a lot then it might be the move for you. Otherwise it may well not be.
