Lastnight my guild formed a group to head into Nek Castle to finish the mask HQ for a few members that didn't have it. The high level players mentored down to 42 which made the whole zone green. We had a 37 Swashbuckler with us and all night long if the tank pulled with anything other then taunt the mobs made a beeline right for the Swashbuckler.Against Everling the tank went down and hailed Everling while the rest of the group stayed in the hallway leading down to Everling. As soon as Everling when aggro he ran right up the ramp and started pounding on the Swashbuckler. The Swashbuckler didn't even start fighting back till 38 seconds into the fight. We know it's not a dumb Swashbuckler attacking too early but we can't figure out what is causing this. The Swashbuckler wasn't the lowest level in the group either. We are guessing it's some kind of buff the Swashbuckler is placing on the MT that is doign it. Anyone have any clue what buff a 37 Swashbuckler could put on the MT that would cause this?<div></div>
The only buff that we CAN put on another person is our Swarthy Distraction line. Which transfers x% of the Swashy's hate to the tank, at that level it was around 16% Adept I I believe. That's not really supposed to have the enemies attack us though. There's definately something fishy going on there. Not sure what it could be.<div></div>

i have the same prob with the beetles in Poets Palace, ive actually been standing right on top of another char (so our animations where lined up and it looked like one person) and i still managed to gain agro with every pop, its been doing that for sometime but i wasnt sure if it was just a bug with me or what. anyways glad to see im not the only swash that gets aggroed for no reason.<div></div>

<div>Was the Swash the lowest level char in your group? I've had a problem where mob go for the easiest, chewiest target sometimes, (i.e. The lowest level char in the group) I dunno if it's only me, but... it's an idea.</div>

No we had a healer 2 levels lower then the Swashbuckler, and it was only one group. If it happen once or twice I wouldn't have given it a second thought. But it was a common thing all night. Any mob not pulled with taunt went right for the Swashbuckler. While Nek Castle are all green and nothing would wipe the group we are worried the next time we go somewhere harder where something like this could cause bigger problems. Our biggest worry isn't losing the Swashbuckler to a raid mob but mainly the healers that might try and keep him alive. Everling bounce from the Swashbuckler to our healer before I got control over him (I wasn't MT so I didn't taunt right way, the MT had problems targeting in the hallway so I just tanked it). Here is <a target="_blank" href="http://www.shawnjetton.com/Everquest_2_Parses/Everling.html">Everlings Parse</a> of is outgoing damage. Niayna is the Swashbuckler, Juene is the healer and Tsukuwa is me. As you can see if this was any other raid mob we would have one dead Swashbuckler and one dead healer.<div></div>

I was in a pick up group killing giants in PoF, nothing amiss until i leveled (dinged 5<img src="/smilies/b2eb59423fbf5fa39342041237025880.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />. After that it was like my swarthy buff was working backward. I did nothing and the mobs would jump from the tank to me. I was the only toon not in the same guild as the rest of the players so they didn't know me. So I was not surprised when they kept telling me to assist the tank and not to try and get agro. Believe me I wasn't. After a few pulls they started letting me die... nice guys. Then the group broke up, I assume they figured I was just dense and not getting the hint. But I was buffing and rebuffing to see if I could get it to stop happening. Hasn't happened since that one time. Hope it doesn't happen again. As for level differences I was the highest toon in the group.Looking for answers,Bouquet on Crushbone</span></div>

<div></div>Out of curiousity was anyone using a transfer buff on the swashie? I've have heard many issues with Paladin Amends and Swashie's Swarthy line that can cause weird things to happen.

But that may be what was casusing the weirdness. But I didn't notice it happening until after I leveled, so I wrote it off as me just being bugged. Camped, reloged in and started playing again, all has been well since.</span></div>

There is sketchy evidence that aggro transfers do not stack. Chances are the guardian placing a transfer on the fury and your transfer on the gaurdian caused the whole thing to break. It would need further testing. Your best bet, if you can reproduce the situation is to then cancel all transfers and only use one. In this case, the guard could use his on the Fury but you should use yours and direct your aggro to someone besides the Guard or the Fury and see if the issue goes away.I've been able to reduce or eliminate all aggro issues by ensureing there were no stacking transfers anywhere and intelligent use of the ones we had. But it needs more testing.<div></div>

<div></div>i know the brigand AoE immunity causes them to get instant agro... do swashies have a similar self buff that could be making them generate hate without doing anything.

<div><span><blockquote><hr>Xanoth wrote:<div></div>i know the brigand AoE immunity causes them to get instant agro... do swashies have a similar self buff that could be making them generate hate without doing anything.<hr></blockquote>more and more I am getting convinced that pre-existing buffs can now (after the combat update) cause a person to move up the hate list..another thing doing it could be a totem, for example a health or power regen totem that ticks a regen out of combat... well the swash was still out of combat, but if he had one running and it ticked before the tank taunted, I can see that bumping him up the hate list..As for getting agro in fights, the lower con the mob is to me, the greater chance I get agro... I was helping some guildies last night and the stuff blue and white to me were fine, but whenever it was a green and it didn't die in moments, I would end up with agro -even- if all I did was autoattack.. I swapped out my legendary poison (yeah it was part of agro at first) for a generic one, swapped out my cobalt weapon for a 30% less damage one (already had a lower damage one in my offhand) and reduced to just turning on attack and STILL I would pull agro. The tank is one of my regular tanks, he knows his job and knows how bad I can pull agro if I slip up and go too fast... so he accounts for it.We even tried with amends on me, with my transfer not on, with my transfer on and amends on someone else.. no real difference except when amends was on me and I had transfer onto the pally (the mt) I seemed to pull agro more on stuff that even before..but since it was green mobs I just finally gave up on agro control and killed stuff.. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></span></div>

well the reality of the situation as far as agro is concerend is that post lu 18 we kinda suck. not in terms of dps, but in the fact that we cant us dps to full effectiveness. if there is more than one scout with hate blame in a group ive seen some crazy stuff happen on several occasions, and if you really want to see wierd throw in a pally. im no saying that indiviually its a problem but i think there is some kind of error when these are together in the same group. but thats just my 2 cents<div></div>

I have an aweful time when I group with a Paladin. So today I had him cast Amends and left my agro transfer off as well as cautioning him to NOT use his group agro buff mid fight... no problems at all, unloaded all guns and he barely had to taunt to keep agro. I took hate once, shadow sliped, and the mob never looked back again. Poor thing.<span>:smileytongue:</span>Bouquet - Crushbone</span></div>
