title says it all
My flexability in combat <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Since I usually play with a small group of friends(duo to 4 player groups), my versatility comes in very handy. My ability to mez has proved a life saver, and my debuffs, poison, hate management, and damage, all are very useful.Others have said, and I agree, that currently swashbucklers excel in small groups while we are often passed over for large/raid groups for more focused specialists. I just happen to be lucky enough to have a small group of friends who all started at the same time as me, putting my Swashy in her best possible environment.I also like her grace in combat, she just is neat to play and is a refreshing change of pace from my other character who I also love, a druid healer. One protects the group, the other gets to smack stuff <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>I have never questioned my choice of Swashy for my primary toon.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I deal good damage, can pull some tank in a crunch in combat and am required to move around in combat versus being stationary. I like the activity of that. Also I think our skills are diverse.....we have a lite-weight mez, we can evac a group, utilize tracking, group stealth, pull some aggro and in a good group....just deal out some damage. Then throw in my ability to out run mobs, utilize a bow....and its a fun, all-around type profession.</DIV>

Yep, the variety of the class.Although, this variety isn't that great in raids. I'm mostly DPS at that point, which is lower than my scout cousins. We are the Jack of All Trades. Good at a lot, master at none.
<DIV>I'll tell you what I hate.. I hate having taunts when I have a heart attack if any mob over level 40 turns and even faces my direction..</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I see guardians soloing green ^^ mobs when they will kill me or have me running in three rounds of melee or less.</DIV>

Variety is the spice of my life. Sure I can play the DPS role and I do it quite well. But where I really shine is when we're short a favored class. Short a tank? No problem, I can tank up to even con (44th level) group mobs with a good healer. Our pace might be slower, but it can be done, especially with crowd control.Oops. No crowd control? Have a good tank? I can help lock down and immobilize a target for 15-20 seconds at pop. No, don't worry about my DPS, you'll hardly notice the slight drop from me. But I'll signficantly reduce the damage the tank is taking.Need to get in and out of tight spots? No high level mage? No problem. I've been sneaking in and out of every zone since level 6. I can get your group to their shards.Need help controling aggro? I can help your tank keep aggro. I can keep myself in the second aggro slot, better I take hits then your casters. Jack of all trades, sure I'm not a master at any particular one but I cover quite a few rather well. We're also not last in any category either.Did I add I look darn good while doing it? Flair and style count for something!** But then, we all knew I like the class. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />In all seriousness, Swashy's fill several roles, don't "fail" in any (i.e. not last). We're a joy to play when you understand what all of your skills are good for and use them to their fullest.

Four things:1. Group Sneak - Since I play a lot in small groups with my friends, this skill is great for when we want to get to the meat of a dungeon - also great for shard runs2. Track - man, I love track3. Aggro management - One of my best duo'ing partners is a conjurer. There's nothing like bouncing aggro between me and the pet, depending on the situation we're in.4. Poisons - there are a lot of really cool poisons out there, especially the rare debuff ones. My favorite one so far is Wave of Deterioration which has a 15% proc which slows mob attack speed by 10%.<p>Message Edited by Meldarion on <span class=date_text>03-01-2005</span> <span class=time_text>01:05 PM</span>

<DIV>I think that I like the fact that the Swashbuckler is more than the Sum of his Parts. All the positive things mentioned in this thread thus far are worthy of mention, without a doubt. However, in the spirit of Syrano's attempts to play outside the box, I've been devising various schemes and plans that use the totality of our Swash and Buckle. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My most recent scheme has been "Inkidoo's Zek Tour." There are essentially 4 "visit" quests in Zek (A Paradise Dream World from Bogstrutter, and the three Bootstrutter quests). A sufficiently skilled Swashbuckler can lead up to 5 other people of any level through the dangers of this zone with ease. At 32nd level with adept 1 in Freeboot (or 31st with adept3, worth the 90cp palladium I found on the broker one afternoon), there are only about 6 creatures that can see me in the zone, all of which have that pesky see-stealth ability (primarily named and epic monsters). Coupled with Escape for the sprint towards the Deatfist Citadel, no one grouped with me need fear death. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What they get out of the bargain? 4 quests completed, 3 for nice experience and one for that and an item, along with a bit of coin; a tour around the zone; the ability to pick up half a dozen or more quests (Hail to the Sullon/Vallon/Tallon/Derris Heroes) for decent mid-30s items or more experience; knowledge of where the Heritage quest for the Shiny Brass Shield is located. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What do I get out of the bargain? Between 30 and 60 silver per quest per person (some nights I can get 60 per quest per person, some nights I cant). If they want all four, that's 1.2g-2.4g for a full trip. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I've considered expanding my operations into the Enchanted Lands. However, this area worries me more than Zek does. I've completed all Boostrutter's there, and I realize that there are several of the History of... quests that end there, but I get the general feeling that more mobs see through invis in the Lands than in the Wastes. That may or may not be true, but it's the feeling that I get having traveled both extensively. I've certainly felt the need to Escape out of a sticky situation in the Lands more than I have in Zek. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>At any rate, that's one of the things I enjoy about being a Swashbuckler. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Inkidoo</DIV> <DIV>32nd Halasian Swashbuckler</DIV> <DIV><Gnomish Death Squad></DIV> <DIV>Qeynos, Crushbone</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

I would still like to see one thing we do really well, andthat it is ours alone, especially in the raid environment.
