<DIV>All right here's my problem... when I frist started playing the game it seemed obvious to me that the Griffin was fated to become a Swashbuckler. The class is *hilarious* -- in a good way -- and captures a style of gameplay that seems to fit the way I always pictured good ol' Griff.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Other than the pink armor. But that's not important.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The problem is, I'm not really that fond of Qeynos. I have another character in Freeport, and Freeport reminds me of... have any of you ever read the Theive's Worlds books? It reminds me of Sanctuary... making it the perfect *backdrop* for Griff.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So what do I do? I have to choose between Swashbuckler and Freeport.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I went to the Brigand forum and asked them what they thought of themselves. Er... something like that. Since I don't think I can have the best of both worlds (a Swashbuckler *in* Freeport) I'm wondering whether being a swashbuckler is worth putting up with in Qeynos... <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any thoughts?</DIV>
I'm not familliar with the books you describe. I just wanted to point out that the pink armor has been green for almost a week now.The choice between swashbuckler or freeport (you're correct, you can't have both) is your own. I can only offer my insight into the "flavor" of each. Swashbucklers are the showoffs, the trash-talking duelists eager to pick a fight to impress the ladies or defend some infinitessimal (or perhaps only imagined or manufactured) slight to their honor. Brigands are brutal, efficient, and cheap thugs, and I mean that in the most affectionate way possible. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<DIV>Green armor! Well, that's all right then.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The other option I guess is to go Swashbuckler and just hang out in Freeport until the guards eject me. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>

If you really want to role play it, you can sneak into Freeport and buy and inn room. Then you'll be the only Swashbuckler in Freeport and get that real living it dangerously feeling. Only the guards agro and they grey out eventualy so when you have enougth lvls you can pretend you've made a name for yourself in Freeport and the guards don't bother you anymore.

<DIV>Hey now... that's not a bad idea...</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Zygwen, you are brilliant. Thank you. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV>
Actually, grey guards can still eject you from the zone. But in several of the villages -- err, slums, hehe -- the inn is extremely easy to get to.

<DIV>Dangit. Zygwen, you're not a genius any more. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>No, but seriously... </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>hmph. Do the guards see through swashbuckler disguises? If I got Grif high enough level to get the half-elf disguise would I be able to use that to avoid ejection?</DIV>

Well, race means nothing -- only citizenship.
