<DIV>Poison actually functions quite simply and is truly invaluable. First and foremost - make sure that you are using a reasonable level of poison tied to your scout/rogue/swash level. If you use something too low - it likely wont stick, and if it does - it will cause little damage.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now, in EQ1 - there was a visual aid to let you know when poison went off... In this game - its a bit more obvious but with less of a fleurish. Look for damage that the mod is taking that is outlined in another color (looks orange/red) every few pulses - the mob will take damage of this type and that means the poison is working. Also: be sure to look for poison damage while bow-pulling at ranges... if you turn off your attack, you can still see the pulses of extra damage as the mob runs in.</DIV>

<DIV>I believe the best to use for you is called Mordant goo, You can get it in thundering stepps and nektulos atleast. Probably in the cities aswell but harder to find.</DIV> <DIV>On another note though. Has anyone problem with the poison buff not lasting its full duration? I am noticing that it sometimes just disapear for no reason at all. It is supposed to last for 10+ hours but it seems it just stops sometimes. </DIV>
<DIV>Poison lasts for 12 hours or 100 procs I think I remember reading. So, in your case, its probably hitting the 100 procs way before the timer runs out (it does for me too), it makes sense that after so many hits you'd need to re-apply.</DIV>

<DIV>Has anyone else tried crafted poisons? I made one last night, just for grins, and applied it... Odd thing was, it didn't overwrite the other poison... Does this mean we can use multiple poisons at once? If so, WOOHAA :smileysurprised:</DIV>
You were probably dual-wielding. Two weapons means two poison applications! You'll probably want to apply two different poisons if you apply it to both, though. I'm guessing that a target can't take the same poison more than once.

<DIV>Anyone else having problems with the poison buff fading off way before its due? It sais it suposed to last 12 hours I think but sometimes it just wares off after a few hours.</DIV> <DIV>Kinda hard to keep track all the time since in a group I have such loads of buffs running I dont really notice its gone until we are killing slower.</DIV>

Poison last 12 hours OR 100 procs.Poisons don't stack, they fixed it in beta.Adding a poison buff is nothing more than adding a proc to your weapon. A proc does not always go off. I proc a LOT less against tougher mobs in a group, than I do even con less mobs. SOmetimes you only get a proc off one of your weapons if you are dual wielding and sometimes you get a proc off both at same time. If oyu get a proc off both, one will be lower damage than the other.

Have I truly been wasting my time doing this? Must test tonight....

<DIV>Sorry to interrupt with a more basic/newbie question. You mention "applying" the poison. What does that mean? Are you referring to equipping it? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So basically, I'm talking most basic level here, you go to a poison vendor and buy a poison of a skill perhaps a little bit higher than your poisoning skill, I presume, so that your poisoning skill will improve, and equip it? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Or is the skill simply tied to your character's level?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Please help out a newbie with these questions.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>To "apply" poison just equip it, then right click and use ( or drag to a hot button and click it). </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Poison skill automatically raises as you level. It only determines what you can equip. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For lvl 10-19 you have to use a 50 skill poison. At 20 you can start using 100 skill poisons. 150 skill poisons at 30, etc. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There is a link to a poison guide in my sig. </DIV>

<BR> <BLOCKQUOTE> <HR> Naggybait wrote:<BR>Poison last 12 hours OR 100 procs.<BR><BR> <HR> </BLOCKQUOTE>12 hours Yes... 100 Procs... that can't be right. I have reapplied poision several times in a single hour of play. And if you already have the poision in use it will show up on your buff bar and will disappear when expended, thats when you know to reapply. Also if you have a poision in use, and you right click it it will not give you the "use" command if it has not been expended.<BR>

That's what the Dev Team has told us.12 hours, 100 procs or death.
<DIV><SPAN><IMG height=15 src="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/i/p.gif" width=15 border=0>That makes very little sense to me unless at level 18 I can proc over 100 times in a hour or so.... seems very strange. that would make a stack of posion virtually last for a couple weeks.... well pending on how much you played but still. I'll pay closer attention this evening when I log in and see if I can time how long it lasts. Oh and one more thing is there any kind of specific chat message you get when you proc or anything like that? spell effect on the posions or anything to let you know one just went off?</SPAN></DIV>

Only messages you recieve is the numbers that come up when attacked and the damage messages in your chat window. It will say YOUR poison has done xxx amount of damage, much like YOUR so and so skill has done xxx amount of damage. You will also get the resist message float up over the target and the resist sound, if the mob resisted the proc/poison.At level 20+ using the 100 skill poison, compared to the number of times I proc, I rarely get resist. They never intended for it to be so draining on you coin wise so, they put a long timer on it because there are times you not fighting much. For me, in a good group fighting a lot, 100 procs go fast. Maybe an hour or so. 100 procs of average of 50 (for me) or so, 5000 extra damage for 96c is a VERY good ratio. It makes a big difference. The only time it last 12 hours is if you aren't fighting much at all. At least it will last long enough that if you stop fighting and running around doing other stuff, it's still there when you go to fight again. Then death erases it and 100 procs will go fast when you in a good group fighting.Remember, it's whatever comes first. So if you proc 100 times in an hour worth of fighting, then it only lasted an hour.
