This book is an account of Jondel Malice, one of Norrath’s mainly unknown but intriguing vampires.

Ah yes, I remember my mortal life quite well. I was known then as Sulegna O’Connor, a paladin of Marr. How ironic that I became one of the things I hated and hunted the most.

My brigade was holding the line against a horde of undead trying to storm our small encampment in what is now known as the Sinking Sands. We were awaiting reinforcements from other priests and paladins of Marr. It was during this battle that I fell.

I thought that when I died, I would spend eternity with the God of Valor, but that wasn’t so. I was in a dark, lonely place. A place that was full of the sound of people screaming in pain. What disturbed me the most, this was a place that I could no longer feel my divine connection with Mithaniel Marr. I knew where I was instantly. I was in The Void.

This one demon was dedicated to torturing my soul, and this went on for an eternity. Every one of my nightmares became a reality. I saw what my mind thought what happened at our outpost, my dearest friends being overrun and turned into the undead. I was subjected to every form of torture known to any mortal, and much more. During this I became a broken soul, no longer the man I once was.

And then I saw it, a ray of light beaming down in the distance. I knew this was from a resurrection spell from a follower of Mithaniel Marr. I broke free of the demons grasp and sprinted towards it. As I was just a step away from this beam, the demon tackled me and we both tumbled into it.

My eyes opened and I was staring at the face of my lover. She was so beautiful. I knew, however, I wasn’t the man I once was. She told me I was dead for three weeks, that was how long it took for our reinforcements to arrive and she was one of them. I could tell that I was not the man I once was, however. I could feel the evil taint of that demon on my soul. I felt an uncontrollable urge to feed on her blood. I seduced her and we made sweet passionate love, and it was during this I fed on her life force.

Outraged by this, I destroyed her corpse, and took flight. I found myself in Nektolous Forest, and there I built a small shack, and fed off of lost Dark Elf children and small animals. I was just another animal in the forest, not allowing myself any human emotion.
It must have been a few decades of living this life when he came to me. He entered my shack and told me there was a place I could learn how to handle my new life. It was in his castle in a land I never heard of before. I asked him his name. He gave me his mischievous smile I knew I would see more than that one time, and told me his name, Mayong Mistmoore.

It wasn’t until we were on a boat crossing the Ocean of Tears that Mayong and I had actually had a discussion. I was down in the belly of the ship, feeding off the vermin when one of his servants came and hauled me up into his quarters. He bade me to take a seat, and gave me a concoction of rare blood and spiced rum. It was a drink he said he made especially for me.

When he asked for my name, I told him that the man I once was now dead therefore I have no name. He looked at me with great concern. He said I must have a name to go by for when he announced my arrival at his estate, and that he would come up with one for me. He asked of my ordeal, and we discussed how I came to be.

When I asked if he was frightened at the monster that sat before him he chuckled. I then realized he was drinking the same drink I was. He was a vampire as well. He said his “rebirth” came about much differently, but wouldn’t elaborate on how.

We quickly became best of friends. He told me how he considered toying with the notions of experimenting on becoming a member of the Pantheon. His thoughts were that as immortals, we deserved every right to walk amongst the Gods. He said although I have yet to experience the true power of a vampire, we were the strongest beings on the face of Norrath, even more powerful then any living dragon.

We talked at length on how his relatively small estate can became a place of training for our types. He told me he had transformed many mortals into vampires, but they weren’t as strong as us, for we are what he called “True Born”.

Upon my arrival, Mayong announced me as Jondel Malice, The Dark Elf Terror. All the Dark Elf vampires stared in awe. Apparently Mayong discovered me through them. During my stay in Nektolous Forest, I became a large legend, and that I became a wise tale for young Dark Elves not to get lost. Jondel Malice had a nice ring to it though, and thus the name stuck.

My power in my two hundred years at what became Castle Mistmoore grew to rival that of Mayong’s. We watched the destruction of Luclin. We even urged on the Rallosian Army. Together we transformed many into vampires. Mayong favored Dark Elves due to their intense hate, so thus we focused on turning them the most. It was when Mayong was on one of his visits to Neriak that I discovered his plans for me when one of the vampires I turned was working on a secret project of his, and he was loyal to me.

One of his experiments for ascending to godhood required draining the life force of a True Born and consuming it. His thoughts were that if he had twice the life force of an immortal, it would propel him into the Pantheon.

When Mayong returned he found his research destroyed, and I confronted him. How could he call me his friend, colleague, and partner, and want to sacrifice me for his gain. We had an epic battle until the sun rose, then we had to flee or we both would be destroyed. I fled into the Butcherblock Mountains, and secretly boarded a ship that was set to sail to Antonica by hiding in a Dwarven crate made of iron.
It was during this trip, I believe, is when the Rending happened, for I was trapped under the sea in that iron crate, until a young Dark Elf scavenger brought me out of the depths onto her boat. Little did she know her future was what was inside.

(if you didn't notice, in the last installment here, I explained why Mayong didn't ascend to Godhood. Allthough we found out later in EQLive, he found out what he really needed to ascend, it was during him trying to figure it out that Jondel stopped it. Maybe it was a bit egotisical of me to come up with a way that a character that I created was the cause of this difference in the time lines, but I think it does make for a good story!)

You can write your tale however you see fit, but making your character "godlike" doesn't give your readers much to bond with. No one has ever been "godlike", so they can't sympathize with the main character. You have to give him weaknesses and vulnerabilities that they can recognize.

I like the linking with Mayong. Mistmoor castle was among my favorite zones in EQ1. I'm interested in seeing how this tale fleshes itself out.

Sorry, but figured someone should bring up that the only vampires ever created in EQ1, according to NPCs, mobs, and lore, were dark elves, aka Tier Dal. Mayong Mistmoore and Tserinna were obviously the most famous, and they, as well as their creations, all followed this rule. I want to note that I liked your writing style and hope you continue your story, since finding RP stories seems to have gone the way of the dinosaurs, heh.

(was the demon trying to stop him from escapeing his hell or trying itself to escape) When he was resurected he had been dead for weeks in most cases that would not be possible but through some divine act, maybe the link between him and his love, or the will of a hateful god, he was able to be brought back.

Getting to my point. I believe the reason all vampires up to this point have been dark elf is because all the original Vampires were dark elves for one reason or another and as dark elves they believe they are the superior race so only there race is worthy to recieve the gift of vampirism.

Which leaves me thinking this is why mayong would have no problem sacrificing him, and also leaves me wondering why he has anyone loyal to him in mayongs house hold assuming they were all dark elves.
