Welcome! Thank you for joining us tonight on a special edition of Freeport Insider. I am Fraggle Fizzledizzlepop and sitting with me this evening is none other than Overlord Lucan D’Lere.

The little gnome looked over admiringly at the ruler of Freeport. “Thank you for gracing us this evening, sir”

“Tis, a pleasure Fraggle” The Overlord stared on emotionless.

Fraggle started in without hestitation, staring at the camera. “Well, as every one knows, recent changes have been made this eve, that has literally shook the ground of Norrath. New binding points for all citizens, and even more shocking, Guilds will no longer be penalized for loss of patrons!”

Almost nervously the gnome turned to look at the Overlord to begin asking his first question, his baldhead glistening from the sweat beginning to form. A bit shakily the gnome began to read from his note cards.

“Mr. Overlord, could you please tell us why the recent changes were made for Guilds?”

“Well, Fraggle, the changes were made after careful consideration and research. The D’Lere Research Group concluded that many Guild’s were becoming demoralized and increasingly unmotivated to continue, thus dissipating and becoming a hindrance for our community and economy.”

“So, this move was made for economical reasons?” Said Fraggle

“That is correct. See, prior to this change, Guilds were reprimanded and even reduced in rank at times, for loosing a valued member of their family. This became increasingly difficult and intimidating for others of the same guild to step up and maintain good productivity and keep the guild in good standings. The Freeportians have seen many guilds come and go, due to this fact. As you know, Guilds play a major factor on the Freeport economy. Not only for their constant adventuring, and discovery of ancient lore, but their occupation’s as well. The production of weapons, armor, food, and other various items helps keep the economy flowing. Within guilds it becomes easier for those who have chosen a profession to succeed in their chosen craft. Thus raising the morale and productivity of not only the guild but for all of Freeport’s citizen’s.

“Interesting” said Fraggle as he lifted his spectacles closer to his eyes. “But, some have stated that this is a sign of weakness, and that by allowing guilds to go un-penalized would give guilds a false sense of power. Is there any truth to this?”

The Overlord gave an icy stare towards Fraggle, but kept his composure and continued. “No Fraggle, your sources are in-correct.” He said thru gritting teeth, turning to stare directly at the camera. “Guilds know their place, and if there are ANY misconceptions about who is IN power, they will certainly be enlightened quickly.”

Fraggle quickly changed his line of questioning. “Um, okay…At least that issue was cleared up” he said with a nervous smile.

Another new feature, Citizens can now upgrade their “Bind” points to new locations within the city. Can you tell us what brought about this change?”

“Certainly” The Overlord sat back, regaining his composure. “As Freeport grows, and new citizens arrive every day. Each of the districts was becoming increasingly over crowded. Refugee’s arriving by the boat loads were being confined to the ships they had traveled on, or even having to spend an extended period of time on whatever island they had washed up on. Thus costing the Freeport government thousands of platinum to the merchants transporting these refugee’s. Which in turn, would increase the taxes of our citizens. Also with more and more citizens now moving into different locations of the city, it would be economically sound for them to bind to their respective location within the city.

“I see, so once again, this change is to increase the economical value for Freeport citizens.” Fraggle said with a very boasting smile. “I for one can not wait! As I live in South Freeport”

“One last question, sir. You mentioned also that a mysterious force has arisen in the Commonlands, and Orcish Waste. Has there been any new information uncovered yet?”

The Overlord sat up a bit, again looking at the camera with a very stern look. “Yes, a strange rat-like creature much like the Ratonga, but smaller have appeared in “Mining Encampments” almost seemingly overnight. Some of our scouts have been able to determine that they are searching for some ancient “artifacts” of sorts. Not much else is known at this point, and I have assigned Mareva D'iniv in North Freeport to lead the mission, seek him out for further details. I encourage all citizen’s of Freeport to do their part and find what ever you can about this new opposing force, and, if necessary, vanquish the would be assailants before any more harm is caused. Your Overlord commands it!”

“Well! There you have it folks. Please do your part, and help keep Freeport safe from all that oppose the Overlord. This is Fraggle Fizzledizzlepop with the Freeport Insider signing off. Dark travels to you, and join us next time, when we investigate “Gnome Pattern Baldness”. Is there a cure? You decide” Fraggle smiles to the camera, and pushes his glasses up, showing off his stubby little nose.

Fade to black…

I wrote this on a whim at work. That is funny, and the Overlord seemed a lot more approachable than I would have thought. 5-stars for fun!

That was funny, and I think you did a good job with the overlord, making him seem aproachable but only in a political, have-to-look-good-for-the-camera, sort of way.
