The dark elf predator Kheliam, whose bid for asylum in Qeynos has thus far divided the community in the western city, has been accepted in an extraordinary meeting of the ruling council.

The council, headed by Queen Antonia Bayle herself, granted citizenship to the Freeport exile as a result of what the Queen called "her tenacity, determination and her willingness to act in cooperation with the leadership of the city".

Kheliam, currently settling into her new life in Graystone Yard, said, "I had no idea the process would be so complex. The tasks I was set by Vishra [former bodyguard to Her Majesty and now immigration officer] were pretty epic."

Details about these tasks are, however, sketchy. Rumours that the former assassin-in-training was instructed to kill 506 Gnolls from Blackburrow to prove her worth to the city are strenuously denied by the Queen's court.

"That's absolutely untrue," said court representative Eisteddfod Twinkleburger. "This is a city of goodness. There's no way we'd ever ask anyone to commit murder on our behalf, even in time of war. These rumours are being spread by malicious agents of Freeport working within and around this city. But rest assured the Queen's security services are working flat out to locate these spies and k... and repatriate them. Yes."

This reporter was able to speak briefly with our newest citizen, and put this issue to her as a matter of concern for the people of Qeynos.

"I can't comment on that," Kheliam replied. "There is the security situation to consider. I've been briefed most thoroughly by the Queen's agents and I can assure you that no such acts were performed on my part. I am a reformed character now, cuddly and kind, and despite the apparently evil gleam you may perceive in my eyes, my unsettlingly sharp teeth and generally aggr... um, outgoing temperament, I believe that all the world's problems can be solved through cooperation, snuggles and the singing of happy songs. I look forward to making friends with all the people of Qeynos."

Reports from the Qeynos Hills of a large banner hung above the entrance of Blackburrow reading, in clumsy Common script, "506 dead: You'll get yours, you traitorous blue tart" have been dismissed by authorities, who claim that the effect was a natural mirage caused by sunlight reflecting from cabbage leaves.
