<DIV>Sorry if this one has been posted already. I don't know the name of this shield, just saw some guy with it on and was curious so I translated.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <P align=center><IMG src="http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f182/ctinaw/gnome_jasonmeetthisfellow.jpg"></P> <P align=left>It is in gnomish and says "Jackson" along top, "meet this" top middle and "fellow" on bottom middle. Bottom also says "Jackson"</P> <P align=left>I could not translate the first and last two characters before and after Jackson - might just be nonsense or decorative, those characters were not in the gnomish alphabet.</P>

<DIV>That shield graphic design is the Shiney Brass Shield, though other shields in the game share the same graphic.</DIV>

Ohhh - well in that case. What on earth are gnomes doing writing on it?

<P>I don't know that everything in game has been translated yet.  Why don't you give the Scrolls from the round room ring event on the Third level of OOLS a try.  Here is  the best shot I could take of one of them with my <EM>poopy</EM> vid card.  </P> <P><A href="http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y161/Ravenstein/EQ2%20screenshots/EQ2_000005.jpg" target=_blank><IMG src="http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y161/Ravenstein/EQ2%20screenshots/EQ2_000005.jpg"></A></P>

Sorry I'm late, my flight was delayed. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Yes, the link a few posts up, on page 2, features my translation graphic for the SBS. I'll get crackin' on the whizbang above now. One moment! /processing...<div></div>

The scroll in question is the source graphic dkelftypeoverlay001, shown here:<div align="center"><img src="http://perso.orange.fr/lhmt/dkelftypeoverlay001.PNG"></div>The problem with this image, and several other Dark Elf text images, is that the Dark Elf font introduced in-game is not the same as that used in early development pieces like this one. This leaves us with two distinct dialects, if you will: Early Dark Elf and Late Dark Elf. This document is Early Dark Elf, as opposed to the font face, which I refer to as Late. Here's a Dark Elf floor tile that features some of the same glyphs:<div align="center"><img src="http://perso.orange.fr/lhmt/defloor01.PNG" height="116" width="116"><div align="left">Some of the glyphs between Early and Late do match closely, such as the character for "E," shown here:<div align="center"><img src="http://www.thefallenlegion.org/sespics/dee.jpg"><div align="left">The black marking on the left is from the scroll image, the one of the right in blue from the in-game font. It is likely that a more "ornate," if not calligraphic form of the font was ultimately selected from an art direction standpoint, relegating the old and unavailable Early Dark Elf font to the annals of forgotten SOE history. The result? The scroll is, as the tile has remained, untranslatable without additional information. I hate dead ends too!</div></div></div></div><div></div>
