Mary the Prophetess

Here is the log, (cleaned up and edited for readability), of my conversation with the Prophetess of Growth, and some interesting pieces of history and lore:

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"Many things have changed since I first walked upon this land, but so do all things transform with the strength of Growth."

You say, "Hail, Eva Corunno'thes"

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"Who are you?"

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"My name is Eva Corunno'thes. I have emerged from the sheltering forests of my goddess and have come to the Shattered Lands on the verge of a New Dawn. I am the voice of the Mother of All and it is my honored duty to begin the gathering and cultivation of the faithful of Growth."

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"Who is the Mother of All?"

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"The Mother of All is a name for our sacred lady, Tunare, Goddess of Life and Growth. She resides upon the Plane of Growth and watches over all of her creations. The time is soon at hand when she will awaken from her long slumber to once again bless her faithful followers."

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"Why was she sleeping?"

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"It may be that only the gods themselves know why their influence and presence was taken from this world. The encroachment upon the Planes of Power by mortals seeking power and fortune during the turbulent Age of Turmoil no doubt contributed to the reasons."

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"Were you around during the Age of Turmoil?"

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"Yes, young one. These old eyes have seen much of this world, and goddess preserve, I hope to see much more. "

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"Can you tell me more about your life?"

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"Ah, child. That tale would be long in telling and not serve the present needs of my goddess nor further my intended duty. For now, my friend, those stories will have to wait for another time and another place. "

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"What is Growth?"

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"Growth is the power of creation, it is the force that maintains and empowers all the living things you see around you. Without Growth our world would be a dusty stone of endless rock, incapable of creating or supporting life."

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"I wish to prove my faith."

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"There are many ways to prove your faith in the Mother of All. She has guided us through many long Ages, both past and present, even when the Ages collide."

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"In what way?"

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"Do you recall the Fall of Cauldron Hollow?"

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"I don't remember the details."

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"Cauldron Hollow was a secret shipping depot of the Teir'Dal empire hidden in Nektulos Forest. When the depot was discovered, it was destroyed in a battle known as the Fall of Cauldron Hollow. This battle was the last stand of the defending Dragoons of Gul'Thex."

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"What happened?"

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"The Kithicor Rangers rode into the forest at a time when most of the dark elf forces were in Faydwer fighting the War of the Fay. That war gave the Kithicor Rangers and their allies an opportunity to destroy the Teir'Dal troops in Nektulos Forest, destroying one strategic location after another."

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"Were the Kithicor Rangers successful?"

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"The Kithicor Rangers had...help...from an unexpected quarter. The Dragoons were loyal to King Naythox Thex, who was in Faydwer leading his troops in battle. Queen Cristanos Thex took the opportunity to seize control of the empire while the King was away."

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"And the Dragoons were expecting reinforcements, which she did not send."

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"Yes, and so the Kithicor Rangers were able to defeat the Dragoons. The final conflict between the Kithicor Rangers and the Gul'Thex Dragoons took place at Cauldron Hollow."

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"What happened there?"

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"The Dragoon's Commander N'Farre and his troops had been involved in covert missions, but eventually he led them back to Cauldron Hollow. There, he joined with Prince Talvus Thex, who had arrived from the War of the Fay with something that needed to be returned to the Library of K'Lorn. The document, long held by the Koada'Dal, was sacred to all Teir'Dal-- half of the Scroll of H'dar. "

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"The Scroll of H'dar?"

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"The Scroll of H'Dar is ancient and planar in origin. It is half of the incantation used to create a channel directly with the god of Hate, Innoruuk. Long ago, the Koada'Dal acquired half of the incantation solely to keep the Teir'Dal from communing directly with the god of Hate."

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"Where was the other half?"

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"We don't know for sure, but we believe it was held in Neriak. By taking Felwithe, the Teir'Dal had managed to retrieve the half held by the Koada'Dal. Their goal was to bring both halves together and commune directly with Innoruuk."

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"What happened?"

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"Queen Cristanos sent an assassin to slay her husband and son. However, we believe Prince Talvus managed to escape the assassin and bring the reclaimed half of the Scroll to Cauldron Hollow. During the chaos of the battle, the Scroll was lost. We cannot allow it to be found."

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"How can I help?"

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"Listen carefully, Veon. The Scroll of H'Dar, if both pieces are rejoined, will allow Innoruuk's followers direct communication with him, who will then spread his maliciousness throughout Norrath. He, too, seeks the half of the Scroll that was lost at Cauldron Hollow."

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"But if no one has found the lost half, how can we keep him from locating it?"

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"The battles that rage often bring powers closer together than is normal...or wise. The Fall of Cauldron Hollow stretched the fabric of time, like cloth that has been worn through constant use. It did not break, but is thin enough that, with Tunare's blessings, I can send someone to the battle itself."

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"Back to the Fall of Cauldron Hollow?"

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"Yes. It is not a simple task, and you would go alone to assist one of our faithful, the Kithicor Ranger Gandari. I use the word "assist" rather loosely, as you shall actually become one with Gandari for the time that you are there."

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"How is that possible!?"

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"If you have faith in Tunare, all things are possible, Veon. I cannot send someone to battle who was not there. Time cannot be rearranged to accomodate a new body. However, Gandari's faith is well-known to Tunare, and she would welcome her guidance through you."

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"What would Tunare have me do?"

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"Pray to Tunare for guidance. I shall prepare the incantation to transfer you into Gandari. You must defeat the Dragoons of Gul'Thex and prevent them from finding the missing half of the Scroll of H'Dar."

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"Why are we doing this now, long after the battle was fought?"

Eva Corunno'thes/a says to you,"Innoruuk has likewise discovered that time's fabric is thin at this battle. He will no doubt try to locate the Scroll and ensure that it reaches Queen Cristanos. We must, at all costs, prevent that from happening. There was no clear winner at Cauldron Hollow then. There must not be one now. Are you ready to join the fray?"

You say to Eva Corunno'thes,"I am honored to serve Tunare.
Aye. You relive the battle as either the rangers or the Shadowknights (for the Innoruuk quest) but the outcome is the same. Both of you get ambushed and slaughtered by Assassins of The Arm.

It would be interesting to see the text of the Innoruuk Quest to compare the versions.

It was nice to see the old-school Ranger and Shadowknight spells from EQlive again.

I can't say I know who the Assassins of "The Arm" are except that they were level 80+++ heroics.

Interestingly enough you can hide in the doorway behind the Kithicor ranger barricade and the Assassins don't aggro, then you can pull them individually. Unfortunatly I spent 15 mins killing them and I think they respawn, they seemed to be of varying races and didn't say much of interest.Dissapointed that they respawn I was wanting to change history and all :smileytongue:

What's the most interesting about this whole event is the Assassins of the Arm. When you talk to the Prophetess of Growth after the event, it appears that those assassins weren't part of the historical Battle of Cauldron Hollow, their pressence was something new. Perhaps we weren't the only ones to go back in time in this little event.

Dang was about to post this up but this quest really intrigues me as to what takes place and the battle between two characters. The thing that bothers me is it seems it was a never ending struggles but some how Gandari prevailed making the Innoruk quest invalid since the commander is supposed to loose.

One thing that does intrigue me is that after you defeat one or the other rangers emerge from the well in the center of the Cauldron Hollow. This makes me very suspicious and I wonder if it wasn't a well but really an escape tunnel or something along those lines. By saying this it could give a reason as to how the assassin emerged miraculously from the well but could just be a farce.

Who are these Assassins of the Arm that you encounter and who is their leader? Also, do they have any special tactics/relations to the current world of Norrath?

Ok, so there are quite a few questions from the view of a Teir'Dal.1. Wasn't Neriak sealed off by now, and if so what happened to the Prince?2. Where is the other half of the scroll? Did the Assassins take it since they were the only ones left standing?3. The asassins came from the well. Where they hiding in there for the opportune time, or does the well actually lead to somewhere?4. Why does Innoruuk want to commune with the Dark Elves so badly that he is willing to risk any consequences by changing history?5. If the assassins were there for the scroll, did they go after the other half in Neriak? Do they now have both halfs, or did the Queen seal off Neriak so that they couldn't get the other half?Things to think about.

Are you actually reading the words I have typed?Xilania Nevagon says to you,"One of the great clashes between Hate and Growth took place in the Battle of Cauldron Hollow. It occurred at a crucial point during the War of Fay, in which our people sought to unify the sacred Scroll of H'dar."The sealing of Neriak AND the battle both took place DURING the War of Fay. Which came first though? IF Neriak was sealed off first, then where did the Prince go? Has he actually been in hiding somewhere this whole time? IF Neriak was sealed off second, did the Prince make it into the city? Did his mother have him killed there? Did he kill her first? These are questions to think about. At this point in time, the answers probably aren't out there.

It doesn't make all that much sense for Innoruuk to give the Seraph the power to send us back to get the scroll if he already is using the Assassins to get it.I did figure out an answer to part of one of my questions. I remembered that I had been running around Lesser Faydark on my little newbie Fae and ran into a group of Thexians. I didn't get very close because they could see through my stealth. I did however, notice a named mob in there. I didn't think much of the name at the time since it wasn't known to me. It seems that Talvus may have escaped back to Faydwer and still be there alive and well. The mob I saw was High Priestess Y'Lask <Counselor of Talvus>.

Haven't done the quest yet, but sounds like EQII just got its first Monster Mission. Anyways, not sure who the Arm of the Assassin's were sent by; I'm tempted to say maybe Druzzil Ro is a possability; she has already meddled in the timelines before to protect how they should play out (ie the end results of PoTime), possibly at Quellious's or the Tribunal's behest. She was also (using PoR lore so disregard if you will) one of the ones who popped open the portal in the ruins of Takish'Hiz back to the Eldaar Forest. Not sure where LoY fits into the EQII timeline, whether it was just after the split or just before the split, but IIRC, part of the LoY storyline showed that Inny no longer saw the darkelves as his, and was instead training the Luggoloid's as the replacement as a 'preferred race'. Maybe he, at the time, sent his own forces in to get the scroll to keep the Tier'dal from calling him on the direct line.Mayong is a possibility; not sure what pre-DoDH lore there is to reflect that, but DoDH lore (and not fully applicable I know) says he was fascinated with Planar and Deity specific items as he was working on his ascension. The scroll sounds like just the sort of thing he would love to get his mitts on. And (DoDH Lore again I know) he was sort've 'in the area' during the EQ1 time/circa the time of that fight, literally under the feet of people in Nektulos. Perhaps he sent his Drachnids from Dreadspire or the Hive (in disguise) to that battle to get the scroll. (The time portals Inny and Tunare popped open may have been enouhg to draw his attention to the scroll half whereas he would have ignored it before)Those areas were reached from under Nektulos, and we know there is an extensive cave system under Norrath (the Underfoot), and it was still intact at the time of that mission, The prince (and the assassins) may have escaped into a tunnel that lead to the Underfoot and went Brell-knows-where.Anyways lots of questions and curious details in that mission from the sounds of it. Hopefully I can find some time to try it soon.(And looks like the Ranger at least was a planar ranger, or one who didn't mind buying planar items in the bazaar. He had the Plane of Earth fletched bow. )

Well, the prince gets away, yes, but I'm betting that Queen Thex sent the arm assassins to kill him and retreive the scroll for herself.

They do speak of this, that she tried to kill the king AND the prince while they were away.
