So, here are some questions I have:What exactly is the underfoot? Is it a plane? Is it the underground(around the hole)? What is that huge gate that you can't open in the hole that that big guy guards? A gate to the underfoot? Is the underfoot just full of elementals? If so, why would Mayong Mistmoore want to go there? Would the god of the underfoot(im stupid) not want that?Sorry to ask common questions =P

Its just a vast array of caverns and underground oceans and seas deep underneath the surface of Norrath. It's not centralized in one particular geographic area. it's all around us.

In all honesty, it's difficult to say what, exactly, the Underfoot is, since we've never been able to go and investigate. We know that there is a PLANE of Underfoot, since that is the home of Brell Serilis, the Duke of Below. Usually, though, the Underfoot refers to the vast expanse of covern networks deep below the surface of Norrath. To me it would seem that the Entirety of the plane of Brell probably seeps into and connects to this plethora of passages, so that the two are nearly one place.

There are MANY denizens in the Underfoot. Brell likes to create many, many races. Everytime someone digs too deep, they seem to find another race. Races that have come from the Underfoot include the gnolls (the most recent of which are the Underpaw Gnolls), dwarves, gnomes, ratonga, roekillik, halflings (according to the EQ2 atlas), Dark Elves (whether they started out in the Underfoot and moved towards the surface, or started out on the surface and moved towards the Underfoot is a little unclear), kobolds (another dog-like race that you'll be getting more familiar with in EoF), and very possibly goblins of some sort (Seeing as how one of their creators is found within the Underfoot). This is only a small sampling of the creatures, I'm sure, and we may never know exactly how many creatures Brell has created that have, over time, emerged from their subterranean homes to walk the surface of Norrath, or how many races were sewn into the Underfoot by other gods, only to emerge at unforseen times to walk with the races of old.

As to why Mayong ventured into the Underfoot, we do not know. Perhaps he has returned, and we will be seeing him in his castle. Perhaps he went there for the same reason the Queen thought it wise to go down there...easier prey. The only people who will truly know are Vhalen, and Mayong. Personally, I'd rather ask Vhalen, he seems more...personable...

They are a creation of the god of Hate. The dark elves have probably invaded the Underfoot many times.

ahhh you are wrong sir Innoruuk did make the Dark Elves BUT 99% of the Dark Elf empire is spread throughout the underfoot, even Neriak is mostly in the underfoot and the main reason Mayong went to the underfoot in EQ1 (remember this didnt happen in EQ2) the main reason was to raise his army of Werewolves, Drachnid, and Islain without the Gods or adventurers noticing, then revealing himself when the time was right.

Message Edited by Themaginator on 10-19-2006 12:07 PM

But there is evidence as to their presence in the Underfoot. Brell didn't make halflings, either, Fizzlethorpe Bristlebane did, but nonetheless, it seems they at one time came from the Underfoot (according to the EQ2 Atlas, I'll get the exact quote later, but I believe it was in the article dealing with Rivervale). I believe that if you would have read the entirety of my post, you'd have noticed my explanation for their presence there.

actually, i believe dark elves were originally from the underfoot. from what i remember, when innoruuk took the high elf king and queen and turned them into dark elves, he placed them into the bowels of norrath so that they were left unknown to build their empire and challenge the light elves.

The Dark Elves were originally placed and lived in the Underfoot for aeons. Not the PLANE of Underfoot. Just the Underfoot.

Blasphemy!

As long as those hairy Halfers remain UnderMyFoot, I'm happy. But seriously, I think that the Haven (exiles' home) could be part of the Underfoot as well. While in the Haven they have a sewer cap you take to Nek Forest and a sewer cap you take to Thundering Steppes. These two places are on different continents if you noticed. So the exiles must have some kind of access to the tunnels of the Underfoot.

But this cave is large enough to somehow connect the two continents of D'Lere and Karan. Unless of course they use some kind of "magic".

I hope the underfoot is eventually released, I wouldn't mind being in a whole underground world. Underground oceans and underground contienents that sounds so cool!
