<P>Rangers at one time were very very overpowered in EQ2. </P> <P>It had to do with procs and poisons. They could use a combination of stuns, poisons, and ranged attacks to take down MOBS far above what they should have been able to do. They absolutely OWNED DPS in groups and raids!</P> <P>Well you can guess what happened: out came the nerf bat, and they got smacked with it--HARD, (perhaps a little too hard actually). All that happened this past spring.</P> <P>As far as lore behind their spells; Rangers have always been a hybrid class; a cross between a Druid and a Warrior in EQ Live. Something a bit different in EQ2. The nerfing they got was unfortunate in the sense that it made them melee a little more often than they did before, and use their bows just a little bit less.</P> <P>Over-all though it is a good class to solo with, and they still have a roll in groups.</P> <P>I am curious how the new Faydwer expansion will treat Rangers when it is released.</P><p>Message Edited by Mary the Prophetess on <span class=date_text>08-27-2006</span> <span class=time_text>10:23 AM</span>

<DIV>Rangers, Shadowknights, Paladins, and Bards are not what they are suppose to be from EQlive.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Those 4 classes were Hybrid classes. They were Warriors with the ability to cast spells from thier parent class.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Paladins were Warrior-Clerics. Rangers were Warrior-Druids. Shadowknights were Warrior-Necros. Bards were Warrior-Cleric-Enchanter-Rogue-Druid-Wizard-Shaman-Magicians.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There is no official lore why they are no longer hybrid classes in EQ2. Its a game mechanic. There's no lore involved in that.</DIV>

Although I must say that since LU 13 my Troubador is much more like the hybrid-utility class Bard I played in EQ1.

I think he is more 1/5 warrior, 2/5 necro, 1/5 warlock, with a bit of inquisitor in there with an evac spell. My Shadowknight having alot of gear and all can't tank a whole heck of alot however in offensive mode he rules. <BR>

<DIV>Exactly. I said they were hybrid classes in EQlive, not EQ2.</DIV>

which makes the "a ranger walked into..." joke a lot less funny... well to some people, most old eqer's still get a kick outta some ranger bashing. <div></div>
