<DIV>                    I was curious as to the histories and lore behind all those neat little karate chops, explosions and other little goodies that we all call spells, combat arts and abilities. What I mean by this is that when you look at a certain spell or combat art there is usually a figurehead  name attached to it <FONT color=#ffff33>(example: Firiona's Farting Flappery)</FONT> Is there a place of lore hidden somewhere that gives a detailed account of how each of these individuals came to develop said spells/arts and also lore on how the name was decided upon?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>                    <FONT color=#6633ff>Example:</FONT> Firiona <FONT color=#ffff33>(we will make her a monk in this case)</FONT> accidently stumbled upon a new martial art during a chili cook-off during a pre-game event for the Qeynos Claymores football team. The accidental discovery decimated a large portion of  Bayle Stadium in which the team plays it's home games. Hundreds were killed in the sudden outburst and scores more were wounded and/or missing. After waking up Firiona decided to hone this new martial art and name it the Farting Flappery.  Through many years of training and discipline Firoina  has mastered the ability to evict a thunderous explosion from her bottom and create a green and brown noxious miasma which affects everyone <FONT color=#ffff33>(friend and foe alike in this case)</FONT> in a large area surrounding her person up to a 5 mile radius. Those caught in the vapor are automatically subjected to severe bouts of nausea instantly upon contact. Those who remain <FONT color=#ffff33>(either voluntarily or otherwise)</FONT> have an increased chance to suffer comatose effects and eventually death. The shockwave effect has a travel radius of one-half a mile and obliterates all but the most sturdy of objects.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>                                                              -Stuff like that:smileyvery-happy:</DIV>

<DIV>Actually, it was Master Puab Closk of the Ashen Order who discovered the power of Arcane Combat. It was Quellious herself who gave him the knowledge to share with the monks.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>For a time it was good. Eventually, the Ashen Order decided that it would be ok to share thier secret with the Royal Antonican Guard of Qeynos.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Unfortunatly, Lucan raided a monk monestary found in the Commonlands and tortured the monks into revealing thier secrets. Sadly, Lucan gained the knowledge of Arcane Combat and shared it with Freeport.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And now we have Arcane Combat as the regular form of combat all over the world.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You can find the books that explain all this at the monk encampment inside the Cave of Knowledge in Pillars of Flame.</DIV>

I am curious about how some of the bard songs came into being and the persons who created them. Spells and the certain individuals who created them etc etc.</P> <P>                          -I just used Firiona as an example <FONT color=#ffff33>(because shes hot!! hehe) </FONT>and somewhat well known. The rest I just tossed in as ummmm "Flappery" hehe. No buns.....err puns intended:smileyvery-happy:<FONT color=#ffff33><BR></FONT></P>

<P>It would be a pretty big undertaking to find out if there is lore attatched to each and every spell and combat art.  Some are easy, but then ones that use a particular persons name become more difficult.  I would say the chances are there is lore about the person hidden in V's tomes at his desk, but I doubt much of it is in game.  General lines of spells you probably have the best bet of finding out information on.  Take for example Mystics.  They channel the spirit world for their power.  As such their spells are often a reflection of this.  Everything that has "grey" attatched is a refrence to the plane upon which souls travel to.  Spells such as Fields of the Grey (rez) to wrath of the grey (cold dd w/ snare).  Mystics also have a whole bunch of spells with the word Umbral in them.  I think Umbral Plains is another name for The Grey but Im not 100% sure.</P> <P> </P> <P>On a seperate note as I wrote this I was thinking of the Exp. pack for EQ1 Shadows of Luclin.  Two zones in there were "The Grey" and "The Umbral Plains".  I never payed it much attention at the time.  But I do find it [Removed for Content] that there would be two zones that have names that are so deeply mixed with the afterlife.</P>

<DIV>Nope.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Puab Closk was the one who was given the knowledge of Arcane Combat. Once Arcane Combat was learned by everyone else, they just applied the knowledge to thier own classes and styles. It's not like there's Bard Arcane Combat and Berzerker Arcane Combat and Ranger Arcane Combat or anything.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There's just Arcane Combat.</DIV>

<DIV>No go read the books I told about for yourself. Basicly, all the different classes use Arcane Combat in thier own style, but its not like there are different types of Arcane Combat. All it is, is focusing energy into your attacks.</DIV>

Then Selo later renamed all his songs after himself <FONT color=#ffff33>(Selo's Song of Travel for example) </FONT>?  And Firiona wasn't the first person to create the Farting Flappery art when she ate that weird batch of chili that tasted like Pepto-flavored kerosene then afterwards chased it all down with warm ale and a giant bowl of vanilla ice cream? How about all the other famous "inventors"? I know there are quite a few of  'em out there but atm I cannot recall any other names.</P> <P>                    On a side note I think it would be cool to witness one of Firiona's "Flapperys"......from a very safe distance rofl!!! :smileyvery-happy:</P> <P>Message Edited by Bleedingheart on <SPAN class=date_text>08-29-2006</SPAN> <SPAN class=time_text>04:29 AM</SPAN></P><p>Message Edited by Bleedingheart on <span class=date_text>08-29-2006</span> <span class=time_text>04:31 AM</span>

<DIV>uhhhhh no.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Selo was dead long before Puab Closk discovered Arcane Combat, and Arcane Combat would go on to completely nullify the effectiveness of the old version of Selo's Song of Travel.</DIV>
