<div></div><a href="http://everquest2.station.sony.com/adventures/fallendynasty/" target=_blank>http://everquest2.station.sony.com/adventures/fallendynasty/</a>Does anybody know the whole story about the FD lore? This lore on the FD page sorta jumps in the middle of something and leaves me sorta lost. Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.<div></div><p>Message Edited by Koehianna on <span class=date_text>08-16-2006</span> <span class=time_text>02:19 PM</span>

<DIV>After finding an elderly man washed up on the shores of the Mystic Lake, the Monks of the Whistling Fist Clan and the citizens of Shin quickly discovered that this person had an unusual past behind him. The man had amnesia and had no recollection of who he was. He could not even recall his own name. The monks gave him the name of Zhen Mei, the one who walked from the waters.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The monks have always been aware of an ancient city located underneath Mystic Lake. The ancient city of Tanaan, but never found out why the city fell.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>By proving yourself worthy to the cause, the monks order you to investigate the forsaken city and find out why the citizens within perished.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Through various quests, it is soon discovered that the citizens of Tanaan only wished to seek knowledge. They always knew of a being called Chel'Drak who was said to be the guardian of the greatest knowledge one could ever obtain, and were told that this knowledge would be revealed to them when the time was right.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>However, the citizens grew impatient. They desired to find out more and more of what the guardian knew, and started making attempts to obtain it themselves. They opened up a portal to a mirror dimension that contained a race of snakewomen called Nayads who called themselves the Nizari. They thought they could share information with the Nizari and both societies could benefit from each other. They felt that the Nizari knew information on how to find the guardian of knowledge. The Nizari did know, but they were not what they seemed. It was soon discovered that this was an extremely malevolent race who quickly destroyed everyone in the city of Tanaan.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It was thier own haste and greed to find this knowledge that brought about thier own destruction.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The monks knew that they would be taking the risk of repeating history, but it is decided that this guardian of knowledge must be found because they knew that Zhen Mei's past was connected to it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The adventures are sent to find Chel'Drak, the guardian of knowledge, and attempt to discover his connection to Zhen Mei.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Chel'Drak announces to the travelers that they must prove themselves worthy to obtain such knowledge by defeating him in battle.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When Chel'Drak is finally slain, Zhen Mei immediately recovered his memory. The adventurers gained no knowledge from Chel'Drak's death, but quickly discover that Zhen Mei is actually Zebuxoruk, the ungod. He was once a human who mysteriously and probably accidentally discovered how to become a god. This knowledge was both a blessing and a curse, because to share this knowledge with any other mortal would bring about the destruction of the very universe itself. With a full memory of his past, Zebuxoruk reveals to the adventurers that he imparted part of his spirit to Chel'Drak to gaurd. The truth was that Chel'Drak knew nothing. The citizens of Tanaan destroyed themselves for absolutely nothing at all. Zebuxoruk mourns thier fates, but there is nothing anyone can do to change what has happened.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Zebuxoruk told the adventurers to prepare themselves, for the Gods were returning to Norrath. 9 Prophets would soon reappear to spread to word of the gods to the denizens of Norrath.</DIV>

Have we been actually told WHY the gods are "returning" to Norrath? Or have we been told, by the prophets, that they just are returning.

I think there's been subtle hints about it, mostly from Zeb himself, if I remember correctly. Basically, they're returning to help us fight whatever the latest all-consuming, world destroying evil is that's heading our way<div></div>

This has everything to do with the Viod and the beings that call it home.
