as of late, i've gathered an incredible amount of interest for norrathian lore. in an effort to "catch up," so to say, i've been reading as much as possible from history of norrath. while checking out the timeline there, i noticed several dates credited to the Maps of Myrist paper book. i hear this book is mostly an eqlive atlas, but is the lore content within worth the purchase? please do realize that i have not played everquest before, save for half an hour of running around east commonlands while my friend showed me the game... i probably would not use the maps for anything other than correlating locations from lore reads in order to create a visual image in my mind...most of the lore i've been concentrating on so far has been in the big picture of what's happened in norrath. seems to me that having a knowledge of eqlive lore is a major asset in understanding all the lore in eq2. i was also wondering if EverQuest Companion: The Inside Lore of a Gameworld was a worthwhile purchase as well....or are there enough online resources available that i shouldn't have any need for either of these? if so, please post a few links, as history of norrath is all i've got.

Don't take exact dates too seriously, they're nothing but conjecture. Even most timelines are rough and to be trusted little.

I found the Companion book to be a great read. It was really interesting (to me, anyway) to see the old Player Character sheets for Lucan and Mayong Mystmoore. It looks like they were part of a Ravenloft D&D campaign. I don't know how much of the information on those sheets was incorporated in to the EQ lore, but the Mayong-Ravenloft-Vampire connection is there. According to Lucan's character sheet he has a brother. I wonder if that is also true in the world of Norrath.

If you're looking for a copy, I picked a used copy up online for $.75. Check ebay or amazon and you'll likely find a good deal.
