<DIV>I do have a Kerra that I play on a roleplaying server that has a great, great, great, great, great Grandmother that was a Vah Shir Beastlord (or lady) from when I played on the Fironia Vie server in EQ1.  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>From what I understand, the Vah Shir is not a race but a tribe of the Kerra, am I right on that?  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Could someone also enlighten me on what happened to the Vah Shir tribe exactly?  </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And for roleplaying purposes, how would a Kerra act?  Moving their whiskers, purring, growling, maybe move their tail to side to side when they are not in a good mood?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks for reading.  </DIV><p>Message Edited by Zilreed on <span class=date_text>08-09-2006</span> <span class=time_text>04:06 AM</span>

<DIV>Yes, in essence, the Vah'Shir are an off-shoot of the Kerran race. Here's how the Kerran story goes:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> <DIV>I'm not sure who created them, but the Kerran originally settled on the island of Odus. They were a tribal race, and by comparison they weren't as developed as the elder races of Norrath. Their leader was Kejaan (spelling?). Kejaan united all the Kerrans into one big kingdom and they lived happily for awhile. During the Combine Empire of the Human's, a group of Humans split off and joined faction with a man named Erud. They moved off to Odus as well, and as the Erudites usually do, they decided that the Kerrans were far inferior to their uber brains. They took over much of the continent, and I believe they even enslaved many of the Kerran peoples, but I'm a bit hazy there. A plague set in on the Kerrans (Cat Scratch Fever I believe it was <IMG height=16 src="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif" width=16 border=0> ) which may or may not have been brought over by the Erudites... not sure. This plague nearly wiped out the Kerrans, and claimed the life of Kejaan, leaving his son Vah"Kerreth to lead the remaining Kerrans.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now Vah'Kerreth (spelling again?) was pretty angry at these Erudites, and rightfully so. But before he could purge them from Odus, a civil war broke out between the original Erudites and the pact of Erudites who had begun to study Necromancy. This was an extremely destructive war fought with magic, and a powerful mis-fired force of energy accidentally hit a settlement of Kerrans along with Vah'Kerreth and transported them to the moon of Luclin. Hidden away here for many years, the Kerrans developed into a stronger and more intelligent race which Vah"Kerreth called the Vah'Shir. Down on Norrath, the remaining Kerrans, now leaderless, scattered to a few islands around Odus.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>When a portal was opened up to travel to and from Luclin (Shadows of Luclin expansion in EQLive), many Vah'Shir went to revisit their homeland. They bred with the Kerrans there, and as a result the Kerran race became stronger, evolving into the Kerrans we know today. After the Shattering destroyed the moon of Luclin, the race of Vah'Shir was all but extinct. The remaining Vah'Shir left on Norrath during the explosion bred into the Kerran race.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Events from that point until now I'm not sure of. All I know is some of 'em ended up in Freeport, and some in Qeynos. If you want more in-depth history on the Kerrans, I know there is a book, "History of the Kerra," that you can get in the Qeynos Mage Tower or Freeport Library I believe. It has two or three parts, and goes into more detail than I'm able to. Hope that helps ya out <IMG height=16 src="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif" width=16 border=0></DIV></DIV>

Im a bit rusty on my Kerran lore, but I did play Vah'Shir mainly once they were playable and my old characters in EQ2 were Kerra (no im a barb but still got a kitty hehe )As for lore, well begin with the Kerra themselves. They were once a divided people, broken into many tribes across the lands of Odus, well before the Erudites ever set foot there. Skipping ahead a bit, a kerra named Kejaan came to be, a male kerra who as legend has it, came from the very elements themselves. He traveled odus and took the smarter and wiser of the kerrans and formed his own lil crew. With their help they began to cleanse Odus of threats to their people and unite the tribes for peace. Many years passed and the Kerra had a mightly and glorious empire that even the elves were in awe over! However then erudites showed up...(for such a mightly empire, well known throughout the world, sorta lame some band of eruidtes show up and just whomp em)Skipping ahead....Erudites become divided, Erudites start killing the Kerra, not wanting to share the land with the peaceful kerra. I believe, could be wrong, that the kerra divided here, some staying within their empire and some leaving to kerra ridge or whatever it was. Well then the Erudites make things go boom, the Kerra Capital is shot to the moon, the remaining kerra all flee. Now we have another division. Those kerra left on Norrath started over on a small island, and tried to keep to their traditions but their glory is now gone. The females were in the lore (though not in game /shrug)  the larger of the species, more spiritual and lived within the cities, the men were smaller and quicker and were more liek guards, not as important as the females <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Now the Kerra shot to the moon...well they land on Luclin! They fight and fight all sorts of nastys, they rebuild their castle in a giant crater and stake claim to some land there. They became Vah'Shir after their leader or some such who was blown to the moon with them all. Where are we now? Well the moon blew up, all the Vah'Shir are now dead. What we have are Kerra which are not Vah'Shir, yes they shared a similar bloodline but I believe the Vah'Shir evolved a bit and became alot different then kerra from social structure, pracices, intelligence etc. The kerra are a peaceful people who have lived a long history of hardships, they briefly tasted power in a peaceful manner but it didnt last long. They are shamanistic and spiritual, wary of outsiders, loathe erudites. Bout all there is to go on, Kerra did not have much in the way of a great lore and history or guilds or any of that. Kejaan was their hero and Im sure many Kerra still hope for his return someday and to be once again delivered to a golden age. hope that helps!<div></div>

<DIV>There are some peices of lore that Vhalen and myself have posted in a few other threads about the religions of the Kerra.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><A href="http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=lore&message.id=14218#M14218" target=_blank>Here is one such post about the Kerrans who lived in Erud's Crossing.</A></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Heck, just do a quick search for "Erud's Crossing"  from the posters of either myself or Vhalen and you'll find quite a bit of good info.</DIV>

There is one piece of lore that I can't seem to find anymore. But I'm 100% certain I read it is that the tribes of Kerra were Matriachical (meaning their leaders are female) I know the old tribes in the Kerra Isles and in stonebrunt, but I read it somewhere as well. This isn't really well-known by many it seems but I take great pride in playing that perticularity in my character <grins> <div></div>

They are, and thier society still reflects it. The females are the leaders, and the Vah Shir had to adapt to that rule compaired to thier own patriarchal nature.

<P>Somehow they think our Vah Shir heritage was lost, our parents sucumbed to the Kerrans way. HOGWASH the Vah Shir are the proudest of them all. still can't beleive we just accepted their ways as ours and not even try to Iinstill a little Vah Shir influnce into the Kerra.  The incosisteancy of the Vah Shir society just vanishing other than our good looks is sadning.  Kind of choppy at best.  they mated withthe Kerra and just acepted their traditions and lost theirs all together.  Even worse they now worship gods.  No self respecting Vah Shir descendant would consider such a thing.  There was so much great lore that was and hasn't even been considered. </P> <P>I bare the Mark of the Kati Sha yet they aren't even acknowledged nor any other Vah Shir social Structure.  Something other than good looks had to be past from them.  But then again i might be overlooking something.</P> <P> </P> <P>I was in FV myself Had my cat follow me around al over the place, Thta was a great class to play. to bad SOE decide to remove it from this game.</P>
