Where can I find more Dwarven lore? Where do they come from? What are their customs? How different is their society from the typical D&D Dwarves I'm used to?What would cause a Dwarf to abandon all family ties, shave his beard, and become a wanderer? Are their markings painted on, or tattooed? (if a dwarf no longer wishes to associate himself with the Dwarven people, is he stuck with his tattoos, or can he just take a bath?)Playing around with the character customization, I was impressed with the beautiful ugliness of a beardless Dwarf, and decided to make one. I recall reading somewhere that a Dwarf will shave his beard when he's going through a major life change, but since there's no way to change character appearance later (that I know of; I'm brand new), I'll need a reason for him to keep his face clean-shaven.<div></div>

To start with, there is a way to change your appearance latter, in each city there is a barber that will sell you an appearance change you can make from the character select screen. I don't know where exactly they are, but if you search around you should find them.As for dwarf lore, I know a little, but it might not answer your questions. Dwarves were one of the first races created on Norrath. Their creator is the god Brell Serilis, the Duke of Below. Because of this, they have an abiding love of all underground places and it is there that they are happiest.Dwarves are originally from the continent of Faydwer, also home of the good elf races and dwarves distant cousins, the gnomes. They live in a region called the Butcherblock Mountains that range along the western coast of Faydwer, or, more specifically, under it. They live in the large underground city Kaladim, which has been ruled by the Stormhammer family, well, forever as far as I know. A large number of dwarves moved to the city of Qeynos after the Rallosian War to assist in the rebuilding, then the Rending and the Shattering occured, cutting them off from Faydwer.Due to their affinity for underground areas, dwarves are naturally skilled in mining, and it's a job many dwarves take up. They are also skilled craftsmen and brewers, and both dwarven armor and weapons and ale are famous the world over

<DIV>Mirander's brief description is a pretty accurate run down of who the Dwarves are. They are Brell's first of four creations.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Much like Tolkien Dwarves, the Females are not unheard of to have beards and facial hair themselves.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>(now that i've think about it, I can honestly say I've never seen a female dwarf in the entire game with a beard. Are they really that unpopular with the players?)</DIV>

<P>Horaay! There IS a way to change chararacter appearance later! Both Freeport and Qeynos now have a barber. You go there, pay a gold, and are given the ability to change your character's physical appearance once. After "setting" it again, you can always pay another gold to have it done again! I once had a friend who wanted to changer her hair...she spent 7 gold before finally going back to the original haircut! *laughs* She altered the physical appearance slightly, though.</P> <P> </P> <P>About the dwarves:</P> <P>Dwarves come from the ancient city of Kaladim! They were created by Brell Serilis, the Duke of Below, and have a natural affinty to rock, and the underground, as well as smith and mason work. They are strong, stout, surprisingly dexterous, fiercely loyal, and have a love of ale unmatched by most! They are very close knit, so if you win a dwarf's trust, then you're most likely friends for life, for better or worse, heh. In general, they are not as insanely greedy as some other dwarves are. This isn't true for all dwarves, but good company, and better ale is generally more in mind thatn more money. What could cause a dwarf to shave his beard? I'll let you decide!</P>

In the Court of Coin, the quest for your title invovles reading a book with business practices and measurements,it includes weight and length measurements, I believe, along with the aforementioned liquid measurements.<div></div>

Well, cool. Since I can change appearance later, I have a lot more options. He won't need to be permanently exiled, maybe just temporarily ostracized. The rest of their background sounds like fairly typical Dwarven stuff; not hard to come up with a background. Thanks.<div></div>

<P>I haven't played with the char select screen for a dwarf recently but I have a nagging suspicion that you can't put a beard on a dwarf in EQ2 Cusa. They did have them in EQ1.</P> <P> </P> <P>Ordate, Devout mystic of Mike, God of Big Rocks.</P>
