Assuming the gods even know about the Shadowmen, i'm sure they'd intervene or something. Too early to make that call, IMO.

I have found myself spending a lot of time in the OoLS recently and can not think of the dual nature of the name. The creatures in there are literally lost souls that were left behind just waiting for the whole place to fade back into the void. It was this realization that makes me post here, the shadowed men are from the void the same place that the nameless if from (I think) as such I do not think the gods would even contemplate messing with them.

I doubt the gods can intervene with the affairs that the Shadowmen and the OoLS are involved in. Since the gods seem to be only able to affect Norrath and its surrounding area, and the shadowmen and the OoLS seem to operate in this and other dimensions. Can the gods of Norrath transverse through time and space like the OoLS is able to? It remains to be seen; especially if the shadowmen etc are truely interdimensional beings not under the influence of Norrath's pantheon.

It's my belief that the shadowmen are not the creators or original inhabitants of the Obelisk. Oh, we were talking about the Obelisk and the gods. I think the Freethinkers have a lot more to do with fighting the Shadowmen and the harvesting of souls than the gods will. There is definitely evidence of some kind of connection there, and I don't think it's a friendly one.

Original EQ Lore certainly *hinted* at the possibility that this wasn't the first world for the Gods either. Brell and Veeshan already hated one another for one.

Definitely possible, never confirmed.

I remember in EQlive that Solusek Ro and his followers in the Temple of Ro were dead-set against the Shadowed Men. A large number of the quests they provided required you to kill Shadowed Men for various bits and pieces they carried.
