<DIV>Maybe I'm slow or something but I just now thought of this question. <A href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/troodon/Races/drakota.jpg" target=_blank>Drakota</A> don't exist in EQ1, at least under that name. By the same token, I have yet to see a <A href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/troodon/Races/mature_wyvern.jpg" target=_blank>Wyvern</A> in EQ2. So, are Drakota Wyverns? They have the same basic body structure, and I remember that when <A href="http://www.eqii.com/images/albums/cvgpre04/vortal_pic_86111.sized.jpg" target=_blank>this</A> screenshot was released pre-beta everyone thought it was a Wyvern.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It really seems obvious except for the fact that Wyverns weren't particularly descructive or chaotic in EQ1 (they seemed to live peacefully in Skyshrine), plus they were minions of the Claws of Veeshan as well as the Ring of Scale. If I'm correct in my EQ2 lore (I could be wrong), they should only serve whoever has the leash thing.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So I ask the question: are Drakota Wyverns?</DIV>

<DIV>[expletive haxx0red by Raijinn]! They do look similar.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Drakota are Drakota though. Granted, nothing has been shown of wyverns yet, but all lore suggests that Drakota are a race unto themselves.</DIV>

<div></div>I don't think drakota and wyverns are the same thing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't wyverns supposed to have poisonous stingers on their tails? I've never heard of drakota having them. As for where the wyverns are in EQ2, they all lived in Velious right? So they're probably still there<div></div>

Wyverns were as big on following the Dragons around as any Drake. Given the closeness of their body-structures it doesn't seem unreasonable to think Drakota and Wyverns are in fact the same thing. Then again, since <A href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/troodon/Races/a_fire_drake.jpg" target=_blank>EQ1 Drakes</A> look absolutely nothing like <A href="http://dbms.ogamingmedia.com/eq2bestiary/7290/picture/squalburst.jpg" target=_blank>EQ2 Drakes</A> (they lost a pair of limbs in case you can't find the difference), perhaps that's not something we should be paying attention to</P><p>Message Edited by troodon on <span class=date_text>07-22-2006</span> <span class=time_text>12:03 AM</span>
<DIV>Actually if you take a look at that Wyvern then compare that with a Droag I think a few passings of time may have had two distinct races. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Wyverns maybe a 6th race within the Dragon tree line that maybe between Drakota and Droag. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Wyrm</DIV> <DIV>Drake</DIV> <DIV>Droag</DIV> <DIV>"possibly Wyverns here"</DIV> <DIV>Drakota</DIV> <DIV>Dragon</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I have never encountered Wyverns in EQOA however and I never played EQ1 so I cannot make a great deduction at this point. If they had some sort of intelligence at the droag level I would put them after droags thinking they have a bit more power than the common droag. However if their intelligence is limited I would put them below the droags but all in all I do believe Wyvens from a quick look appear to be draconic in nature. </DIV>

<DIV>Actually wyverns seemed to be very intelligent, they seemed to be scholars and such. Wyverns were usually found in libraries and stuff like the one in the sleepers tomb or skyshrine.</DIV>

<DIV>They were intellegent, Yes, but the Droags have evidently shown far greater.</DIV>

It's fuzzy but you can tell. That's one reason why I suggested the Wyvern connection, because they have the same shape in both games</P> <P>Edit: I found a <A href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/troodon/Races/obsidian_drake.jpg" target=_blank>better picture</A></P><p>Message Edited by troodon on <span class=date_text>07-22-2006</span> <span class=time_text>10:58 AM</span>
<DIV>Well guys if you take this post and compare it to the 1 mysterious island that is off in the distance in Bonemire I think we might be in for a surprise. What if indeed Wyverns were an entirely seperate part to the Dragon kind race. These creatures being the first attempt of dragon kind to create their precious errand boys the Droag however they fouled up and created the Wyverns. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The Wyverns possibly having the intellectual capacity of Droags but maybe as powerful as drakota and thus the dragons feared an uprising of them banishing them to that lone island. Or possibly they were just that a failed experiment to create Droags and they turned out looking more Drakota/drake like in appearence which didn't benefit the dragons/drakota. They were destroyed or banished to the minature island in Bonemire and the dragons learning from their first experiment created the Droag that now serve them. It is quite interesting but I don't think I can make an exact analysis as I have said because I have never played EQ1. :smileysad:</DIV>
