<DIV>(Here's one for Vhalen to tackle... *GRIN*)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You're an adventurer. Your guild has raided many dangerous places and has found many numerous treasures.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As far as the common person is concerned, they've either heard of your fame or they haven't.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You just looted an extremely rare artifact that was painstakingly created through an intense fusion of magics, rare metals that can only be obtained in miniscule amounts from one area of a small cave in a far off land, and many lives lost in the forging process.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just with that knowledge alone, you know for a fact that you're only one of a select few beings in all of the universe who knows of its existance, but your most recent raid was less than successful and you find that it's been damaged.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>... So how is it that any common Mender found around Norrath can easily repair such a mythical item with ease?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Certainly, even for a game mechanic, there must be some form of lore surrounding the Menders in the game. How is it that they can just easily repair such priceless and rare weapons and armors when there's a significant chance that they've never heard of such an item existing before? And when they repair it, it doesn't degrade the weapon or armor's magical qualities?</DIV>

Maybe that's why it costs so much to repair those items. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

<DIV>Yet you'd still get considerably more money to just sell that item to a merchant.....</DIV>

Certainly an item with such immense magical properties cannot be damaged so bad that a mender cannot repair it physically, and even then that's why it costs more to get those types of items fixed. But realistically we know that's just one of those things we have to "imagine" as there can't be a reason for <i>everything.</i><div></div>

they buy all their "rare" supplies from the goblin black market using platinum plated coppers the little goobers are too stupid to notice they are fakes and hand over all the rare materials they horde from us so that these menders can "repair" our equipment that still manages to break after they said they have fixed it.<div></div>

Haven't you heard? All the menders have this great solvent, so you don't have to go buy a whole new set...

I wish we could apply for a repeat customer discount....maybe even negotiate a guild rate for high usage. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>
One could always suppose that the item itself is not damaged, but more the straps and fittings that attach it, which the menders do repair.ie: you broke the shoelaces on your magical boots of uberness, but can replace them with mundane shoelaces.Or perhaps the mendor only re-attaches the item's affinity for its current wearer...the enchantment weakens each time your body is reanimated through reviving/resurrection.<div></div>

The Mending Consortium of Norrath has control and access to the most valuable sustance on Norrath; the magical Dæuckt Tay'epe. Harvested from the hidden Forests of Tree'emn, this mythical substance holds the power to reconstruct any item. Because of the Mending Consortium's stranglehold on the supply of the substance, they are able to charge exhorborant rates for it's use.Recent development may change that, however. The leaders of both factions have heard tales that the Orcs have uncovered a hidden cache of Cråy'zee Galoo from within the mines of Zek. Adventuring parties from both cities, as well as spies from the Mending Consotrium, have begun infiltrating the mines with the intention of recovering this supply of fantastic material for their own group. Emperor Fyst has so far put up a strong defense and replled all invaders... but one day the defenses on the hidden mines will fall, perhaps soon. Reports have emerged of Roekilik infestation of the mines behind the Orcish lines, perhaps indicating that the source of the Cråy'zee Galoo originates from within the Underfoot; if so, this bodes poorly for the Orc's defense of the mine. Who knows what may come through the portal, should one still exist... and if it does, it must be found and studied.(( I put WAY too much time into that one. ))<div></div>

So thats why that little shady dude charged me so much to repair my relic armor. Dang you Innoruuk DANG YOU!!!!! </P> <P>Well moorguard you guys could have been mean and made it like the SWG system. :smileywink: In there all armor was player made or was rare/ultra rare loot drops. You could repair the armor yourself and if you failed the armor went to 0 condition where it was trash. If condition on armor went to 0 the armor was technically destroyed and the stats decayed as the condition neared 0. </P> <P>I remember many a fun day shelling out 50k credits to get 80 kinetic 80 energy 70% rest armor from a vendor *wipes tear from eye*. I must say I still miss those times to this day.</P>

considering how inferior the mastercrafted armor and weapons are, maybe allow the folks who have taken those tradeskill paths the ability to repair weapons an armor up to the level of their skill?
