<DIV>Whether you use EQmap or not, if you go to the Pillars of Flame, you will see a giant Zone icon on the map in the west for a zone called the Sunspires.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Obviously, it was quickly discovered that this zone doesn't exist in the game, most likely because the zone wasn't finished, had to be scrapped for whatever reason, or it's mearly an error that they forgot to remove from the map. Personally I hope to see this zone some day. I also hoped that T'Narev was also it's own zone located within Pillars of Flame, but I'm happy with what it is anyway.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>In the meantime though, don't you think it's only fair that we learn a little bit about what this place is/was supposed to be?</DIV>

If I remember correctly there were 2 or 3 zones scrapped from DoF, the sunspires, the crags, and something else. Two were supposed to be outdoor zones and one was a dungeon. It was either the crags or the sunspires that was supposed to be home of the naga and more harpies, if i recal it correctly.

I thought the crags were home to the harpies and where even gonna have som aviaks as a prelude to KoS. Could be wrong though.

There's always the possibilty of zone revamps, and adventure packs to open up these areas.

<P>It seems like you want to know more about a few of the areas that cannot be found on Ro, in-game. </P> <P>The Sunspires<BR>The Sunspires are home to two warring groups, the harpies and the gnolls. The harpies have always revered the Sunspires as a holy place; their home and birthright. The recent incursion by the Anaz Mal gnolls have brought down the full ire of the harpies who are attempting to rid of the infestation of unwanted visitors. The Sunspires is named for its three towering spires which lie between two large mesas in the pillars of flame. The two mesas were once one large single platform rising from the sun-baked ground, but erosion and an impact from a meteor have worn a single pass through.</P> <P>The Crags<BR>The Crags consists of a forest of sharp stone spires, narrow canyons and broken rock ledges. Divided by the Rujarkian Hills, this region is home to many of the creatures familiar to the desert regions of Old Antonica's Desert of Ro. Orcs, goblins and harpies struggle for supremacy in the winding canyons of the crags, using the varied vertical terrain to take whatever advantage they can. Here is where the first temple of the Ortallians was built, the temple called Rath'Mana. On the other side of the unassailable wall created by the mountains, is an area rumored to contain the secret grottos of pirates. They use the cave-ridden shore of the region as a hideout from which they launch attacks throughout the seas of the Shattered Lands. They have no doubt, discovered the secret shipping lanes that allow safe passage through the Sea of Sand that engulfs the island of Ro.</P>

I wish those two areas had been included in DoF as they were supposed to. They sound like they could have been nice areas.<div></div>

<P>The additional zone yet to be mentioned would be the Anvil of Ro. This was one of the original release zones not included in the Exp Pack. It was an overland zone where many Djinn resided I believe. It was described as "salt flats."</P> <P>I think the original story stated that the Shimmering Citidal hovered directly above the Anvil of Ro. Obviously this has changed. Maybe Vhalen can clear up the changes in lore between the time those zones were planned and the removal of those zones, specifically dealing with Anvil of Ro since the other two have already been described.</P> <P>Here is something else that is interesting:</P> <P><IMG src="http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/4048/eq20000006ao.jpg"></P> <P>This map can be found in the Clefts of Ruj. Note that the entire western portion of the isle is not accessable. The SE portion is SS, the NE portion is PoF. The white center is Maj'dul and to the left is clefts. Beyond that could either be mountain terrain or the zones that are missing. If it is mountain terrain, the map has probably been redesigned or the devs never even got to the point of designing the additional zones.</P> <P>The last thing to note is where the markers are located on the map. One marker is located in PoF. The other, south of Clefts (where the Crags might have been?) The markers could also simply be holding the map in place.</P>
