View Full Version : Lore of the Hive

I have seen lore ranging from the strange and gothic Nektropos Castle to the mighty Droag race. However I do wonder what about the lowely race known as the Ravasects. When did these guys come about? have the always existed on Norrath but in secret only being discovered in the Bonemire or are they completely new having just sprung up out of their dwellings invading the Bonemire and the Tenebrous Tangle?

This Ravasect race is very strange in that they have a hive mentality but also appear unintelligent having no true "Intelligence" as we would call it. Are these creatures truely intelligent or are they just mutated insect like beings that still retain a queen/hive mentality like the Bixie do?

From what I've seen, the Ravasect don't seem to have any ability to speak in a normal humanoid language like Common tongue. Can't blame them with thier physical designs.

Anyways. I wonder if they have any relation to the Shik'Nar who lived in Luclin? They were capable of speaking a common tongue though, though not easily.

Hmm I think they are related to insectoid race from Posky in EQoA....

I noticed that the devs went back to the EQoA versions of Aviaks in this version of Posky so this got me wondering if they also derived the idea from eqoa to bring back the insect race that lived in different parts of that Posky..

eh darn it.. i cant remember the name of them... eh.. this may mean Rezi has to fire-up the old PS2 and log in to get the name of them..

Message Edited by Porkchop133 on 07-12-2006 06:03 PM

Message Edited by Porkchop133 on 07-12-2006 06:03 PM

I also do believe the Ravasects were influenced by the insects that were on EQOAs Plane of Sky. I remember farming them for my Robe of Divergence (Which would make a GREAT caster HQ item). They were on the Isle of Dessolation, you spoke to an Aviak NPC then you had to protect him from a small army of those bugs.

IDK, When if first saw the Ravasects I thought of the Chik'tar from EQOA (existed pre-frontiers NW of the Endless Tower), another Mantis-like Insectoid race.

Near Surefall glade was the nasty Sithtar race I believe which was basically a head, a body, wings, then a tail with the Sithtar queen. These buggers were low level stuff but pretty interesting if the devs think about going to an insect type adventure pack.

Then there were the Chik'tar as you said that did resemble the Ravasect race. There was even a quest to go into the hive of the Chik'tar I think for the big epic quest or our level 20 armor quest.

The last race I know of that could have a "Slight" relationship are the arachnid people. These guys were uber nasty and were half humanoid half spider race of beings with a queen.

Unfortunately I never got into any of the planes when I was in EQOA. The access quest for the Kingdom of Sky was a major pain in the butt. I still remember having 3 groups facing that dang octopus and not being able to kill the bloody thing. It was probably a distant relative of the Octogorgon.
