Well, as I'm sure 80-90% of anyone reading this knows, the Druid Ring has recently sprung to life, and is now a topic of huge debate. I have made a few observations on the said topic, and am hoping to come to a final conclusion as to what this is all about. Here are just a few of my observations and theories, but please realize that this is all speculation, and may or may not be true in actuality.

1) The Druid Ring may eventally become a "zone in" portal to Kelethin-- There was an event awhile back where players had to craft items and work together to activate the KoS spires and raid a dragon that popped out. I believe that the epic X4 wisps may be part of an event to "activate" the druid ring, which will serve as a portal to Kelethin as the wizard spires served as a portal to the Teneborous Tangle.

2) All the recent growth is due to the return of the gods-- While this MAY not be entirley true, I do believe that the gods are trying to revert the world back to its pre-shattering state. For example, you see things such as "A rose of Innoruuk" (I don't care if I spelled Innoruuk wrong, Dark Elves are Sasuke Uchiha wannabees anyway >.> in Nektulos Forest, and you can't help but wonder if NEKtulous will turn into NEriaK. You can even see the similar letters. The "Island of Mara" is also a mystery because of the now legendary "Order of Pain" emmissary, who is legendary because he is an IKSAR. Is Kunark returning too? As far as I know, and can guess, I believe the following countries are returning: Kelethin (DUH!), Butcherblock, Ak'anon (I know its not called that anymore so don't lecture me drax ), Kunark (I'm guessing), and Neriak (I hope not!). I'm not too sure about any other countries at this moment ((or may have forgotten about them )) so I won't list any more.

3) Is the disapeerance of fungus JUST a revamp?-- I'm not too sure about this idea, since I just had it, and you needn't think anything of this, but I think that the disapeerance of the Alchemist's fungus may also be a part of the Commonland's "transformation", and it may or may not have something to do with all of this. I believe it may play a part in Kelethin, considering how Kelethin is....basically fungus and treehuggers (and I'm saying this while I have a wood elf alt, so don't complain!)... so fo all I know, the hypothetical "event" I explained in section 1 may involve gathering fungus and then killing wisps.

My final conclusion: Who knows? Nektulos could not turn into Neriak because Neriak already exists.

2. Kelethin, Butcherblock, and Ak'Anon are two cities and one reigon of Faydwer, not continents. Neriak is under the continent of D'lere in an unknown state, and Kunark will likely be returning, a dev made a vague hint that it MIGHT be the next expansion after Faydwer. Odus is also a very likely next expansion. I know Velious, Kunark, and Odus will make it back into EQ2 at some point.

3. The Court of Pain is not made of bruisers. Bruisers are basically thugs who do not desire enlightenment in any form. The Ashen Disciples aren't even bruisers imo, they are just more like the Court of Pain. Rather than seeking enlightenment, they seek power. They enjoy flaunting their power and would never turn down a chance for a fight. The Swiftail monk or bruiser debate has been talked about before, and I believe the general consensus was that while they didn't behave like most conventional monks, they achieved the same kind of power and discipline. Who said monks had to be good guys (other than the devs :/)

4. Druid rings probably are going to be the main transportation to Kelethin, i've even camped my level 12 alt at the commonlands ring, waiting for the expansion so I can do the lower level stuff in it with him.

Message Edited by The-Fourm-Pirate on 07-05-2006 02:23 PM

It has been there for over 1000 years, as has Neriak been near it. If anything, Fallen Gate (what used to be the first part of Neriak, known as the Foreign Quarter, since that's where the Dark Elves let a few humans, ogres, and trolls, including the refugees from Grobb, renamed Gukta, Outpost of Marr lived. It was the place of Foreigners and very poor Dark Elves) will be getting a zone connection to the rest of Neriak, when that expansion/adventure pack comes out (I highly doubt Sony would let us in there for free, unfortunately)

I don't think the gods are TRYING to turn anything back, but with their influence returning, things will change on their own. The gods ARE coming back, as they are the basis of the AAs coming out with Echoes of Faydwer.

The iksar monk in the Tower of the Four Winds is from Kunark, he even says he's from Kunark, and is a representative sent by the Court of Pain, which has always been home of the iksar's monk guild (if you want to get techinical, the monk caste, as that was the system in which iksars were segregated).

It is sort of impossible for iksars from Kunark to be Bruisers, as they have never had any association with this relatively new class. The ogre Dreadknaught in the Spawl tells you of the genesis of the Bruiser class, which actually stemmed from the monk class. Iksars were monks long, long before a bruiser ever set foot on Norrath. While it is very possible their disciplines (the Swifttail caste, aka, iksar monk caste) are very different than the current monks of Norrath, possibly even as different as bruisers are from monks, Swifttails aren't techinically bruisers.

From the Genesis of Fist and Tail, a book in Everquest

Soon the way of fist and tail had hundreds in it's ranks, climbing the rungs. Tynn showed them they were not warriors, but monks.

They would don shackles as testament to the Age of Snake when the Iksar were a race enslaved. Inner strength and harmony were taught. The Swifttail were born.

The Swifttail were disbanded during the End Days. It was not till the rise of the new empire under Emperor Vekin did the caste reform. Grandmaster Glox, a former disciple of Tynn, came to New Sebilis to rebuild the Court of Pain. In honor of Tynn, all masters now drape themselves in a robe like he wore.

Since you pulled some of the stuff from the other thread, I'll just respond to the argument in this one. It would seem that the discipline (not saying Bruisers aren't disciplined, I believe them to be very disciplined, very similar to the Ashen Disciples) that Grandmaster Tynn taught the iksar was that of the monk, again, most likely because there were no Bruisers around at the time, and that Tynn learned it from the Whistling Fist monks, as the robes adorned seem to be from their order. Fairly speculative, as I do not have the quests in front of me that confirm this.

That being said, I would not be in the least bit surprised to see that the Swifttails have continued adapting, and adding new techiniques to the point where it is more similar to that of Bruisers, given the nature of the iksar.

KidMangaX wrote:

4) Iksars pwn

5) Bruisers ARE disciplined, and the Iksar from the Order of Pain is DEFINITLY a Bruiser.....IKSARS DONT LIVE IN GOODYLAND BAKAS!

6) Sahaquiel Pwns....he is the single most awesome iksar on the face of the earth. The removal of fungus is indeed quite odd from a lore point of view, but it really was just for the sake of the tradeskill revamp.

Number 4. It's called Clak'Anon now, actually.

Number 5. Kelethin is a city built in the TREEtops, not OUT OF fungus. BIG DIFFERENCE.

Number 6. It's possible that the gods may be trying to heal the lands, but they have no intention of restoring it to what it was before. The only reason they intentionally caused the world to break appart was to force all the races to once again focus on fighting each other instead of uniting together and invading the planes. This will give them enough time to heal themselves up.

Number 7: The clan of Iksar Monks are known as the Swifttails. They reside within the Court of Pain. Appropriately named so because they believe that physical pain is a required and necissary part of thier vigorous physical training and discipline. Yes. They ARE Monks. They are aggressive monks. Just because they are aggressive doesn't mean they are Bruisers. Part of thier philosophy is that if your body isn't hurting on a daily basis, then you arn't training hard enough, and if you arn't training hard enough, then you will never achieve inner peace and tranquility. Seeing as the Iksar worship Cazic Thule, the God of Fear, The Swifttail Clan believes that you can achieve inner tranquility by overcomming your own personal fears and physical pain, while at the same time finding ways to instill fear into others. THEY. ARE. MONKS. PERIOD.

The Swifttail Clan doesn't trust softskins. They were never good aligned to begin with, but they always have been monks. Rest of the stuff I mostly agree with, but remember, they've been independent of any other monk clans for quite some time. Just as the monks in EQ2 are different than the monks of EQ, it wouldn't surprise me if the iksar have also developed independently, perhaps making them more like bruisers (not saying they ARE like bruisers, but something different than either of the two classes).

Also, I very much agree. I love playing my dark elf, and like interacting with other dark elves, and I'm pretty sure most of us have no idea who that japanese character you keep calling us is, so there is no possible way we would want to be them. This game was created and designed by Americans. Anime-ish looks wasn't even possible in the beginning. And if any race resembles oriental style (including culture and architecture) it would have been the iksar. But, I've already commented on your obvious immaturity, and, while I do appreciate actual wit, and clever remarks, your shouting how anyone who plays a certain race is stupid and *insert japanese word for stupid* Sasuke Uchiha wannabes simply makes you look like an idiot. Of course, making a fool of yourself has rarely discouraged people, so I'm sure you'll be more than happy to continue presenting yourself as such.

Just remember, most of us here are actual adults, and prefer to act like ones. We'd appreciate the courtesy of others doing the same.
