<DIV>I figure this will be the best chance I'll get a response.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I swear. I have *NEVER* heard this song before in all the 5 years I've played Everquest. I've been everywhere millions of times, yet I don't recognizes these songs.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>First off: I appologize for the websites I'm about to link to you. They're not pornographic or anything like that, but I'm pretty sure the board shuns against websites where you can download music and stuff. If this is taboo, just say so and I'll get rid of it.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You can listen to them if you click on the following.</DIV> <DIV><BR> <HR> <BR>You have selected <I>06 MP3</I>. To begin downloading this file, <A href="http://d4.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/EverQuest%20Gamerip/06.mp3" target=_blank><STRONG><FONT color=#985e1f>click here</FONT></STRONG></A>.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You have selected <I>08 MP3</I>. To begin downloading this file, <A href="http://d4.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/EverQuest%20Gamerip/08.mp3" target=_blank>click here</A>.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> <HR> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I swear. I've never heard them, but at the same time they sound familiar. If anyone can identify where these songs were found, I'd appreciate it.</DIV>

<div></div><div></div><div></div>Edit- Don't mind me...I'm not very familier with the music... I never playedt he games, and was going by the XMI files in the music directory. I believe the below poster would be more accurate.<div></div><p><span class="time_text"></span></p><p><span class="time_text"></span></p><p>Message Edited by Enever on <span class=date_text>07-04-2006</span> <span class=time_text>02:09 AM</span>

<DIV>First one is Greater Faydark music, or at least a re-mix of the original midi file for it. I'd recognize that music anywhere (I can even play it on the piano in real life). You would hear this in the zone Kelethin was located in.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Here is what the original sounded like...except it would sound different based on what computer you were on. However, the melody would be the same. I uploaded it to this link:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV><A href="http://media.putfile.com/gfay" target=_blank>http://media.putfile.com/gfay</A> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The 2nd is definetly one of the town music files.</DIV><p>Message Edited by RpTheHotrod on <span class=date_text>07-04-2006</span> <span class=time_text>01:09 AM</span>

<DIV>That is OFFICIAL music from everquest. Yes. I know the first one sounds like Greater Feydark (which I am most familiar with), but it's not.</DIV>

Second piece of music is for sure the theme of the Lodge of the Death or whatever the Necro/SK guild was called in Neriak in EQ1.I remember that music all to well, greeting me after returning from days and week long travels away from my beloved or rather behated (?) guild.

<DIV>The first one, again, is GFay music but re-made with a new "look".</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>You can re-mix songs, but it's "still" has the original song element. Without it, the new one wouldn't exist. It's the foundation.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV><p>Message Edited by RpTheHotrod on <span class=date_text>07-04-2006</span> <span class=time_text>08:59 AM</span>

<DIV>No. That can't be the Greater Feydark music. That song is a Gamerip, which means it wasn't remixed, but rather can be found somewhere in the game.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I know what the Greater Feydark music sounds like. I have the music box in my house.</DIV>

<DIV>I wouldn't say it's so much a remix of the Kelethin theme as it is a remix of another song from eq1. There's quite a few themes for eq1 that were changed around very slightly between different zones.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There's a song that's in the gl.xmi (general midi file that's loaded for every zone that contains the combat music, merchant music, bard songs and others) that sounds very similar to the song you found. It's missing a couple of the instruments from the mp3, but the song structure is basically the same. It's also found in the xmi file for Temple of Veeshan. I couldn't find the exact version that you linked anywhere in the set of midis that I extracted from the xmis. Either I don't have all the files in my collection, or at some point someone added their own touch to the song. I think the former is more likely.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><A href="http://media.putfile.com/templeveeshan-01-or-gl-22" target=_blank>Link to the song I found if you're interested.</A></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I noticed the song from Neriak is also found in the Crushbone file. Not surprising to me at all.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#ff0000>Stack shouts, "DVINN TO ZONE!"</FONT></DIV>

<DIV>Cusas. I heard that song before in-game (the actual sound file). I don't remember where though. I thought it was maybe the updated GFay music. However, I do remember that re-mix of Gfay from somewhere.</DIV>

<DIV>Yes.....I assume that the original midi music was replaced by "updated" songs throughout the years of EQ.</DIV>

Maybe it was from the Prophecy of Ro expansion? That one let you go back to the Elddar Forest, very possible they used a tweaked version for the Kelethin music for that.<div></div>

I don't know what the story is with Lavastorm and Freeport since they got complete zone design overhauls with Prophecies of Ro, but the music stayed the same for just about everywhere.

It's possible, but the website I found this song off of only has a few gamerips of other songs that came only from the original Everquest back when it first started in 1999. And they're Gamerips, which means someone had to make an MP3 file out of them from the midi music while it played in the game.

Yea, that is definately not Gfay. Sounds close to it though.<div></div>

Both of these are midi songs - that they've been converted to an mp3 file format doesn't change 'em at all. Thus both are pre-PoP. 08.mp3 is the Necro Guild in Neriak, as we've established.06.mp3 has three possibilities: Timorous Deep, either at the elf outpost or the ring island, Wakening Lands near the Growth portal, or Plane of Growth, itself. I'll be logging in to perform an investigation <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> Been a while since I visited Tim Deep... Or heck any part of EQ1<div></div>

<DIV>I remember the Kelethin/Greater Feydark music playing in Plane of Growth. Hehe.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Anyway. the other songs were Pre-Kunark era, so this one is likely to be as well.</DIV>
