I do not think it was ever explained who Derris and Gorynn were, and why they have a following in Zek?

The gravestone of Derris reffers to Derris as a "Lesser" and that Sullon Zek "Shall strike down the children of the lesser". Who was Derris and Gorynn, in reffrence to the Orcs? More Zek demigods? Possible heros of Orc folklore who rose to power?

The Terrorgore in the Court of Truth quest line for Ring of Fate uses the phrase "Gorynn's Fist!" as some sort of expletive

Gorynn and Derris are two examples of planar entities that are not commonly known. These planars were born and bred on the battlefields of the Plane of War. Here is a bit about them:

Gorynn
Plane of Existence: Plane of War
A.K.A.: Champion of Zek
Related Deities: N/A
Worshipers: Gladiators
Gorynn resides upon the Plane of War where he has retained the title of Champion of Zek. He once ruled as a great general in the Army of Zek, but has since moved on to become the resident champion of the Plane of War’s grand arena. He has bested and laid waste to thousands of would be champion gladiators. Rallos Zek admires his skill and ferocity in combat and has allowed Gorynn to build one secluded arena of majestic proportions upon each world that the god of war touches. Gorynn is a member of a tall, heavily muscular four armed humanoid race indigenous to the Plane of War.

Derris Zek
Plane of Existence: Plane of War
A.K.A.: The Prince of Plunder, The Pillager
Related Deities: N/A
Worshipers: Orc Rogues, Bandits, Raiders
Derris Zek is a general within the great Army of Zek. Known for pillaging and plundering through territory his army marches through, General Derris is feared by most. He is merciless and believes in striking terror into the hearts of the enemy by razing and pillaging any enemy territory he crosses.

Gorynn sounds kinda like Goro from the Mortal Kombat series :smileyvery-happy:

So would he be responsible for the building of THE arena out near Lake Rathetear? Majestic proportions? Check. Secluded? Check.

The Plane of War always sparked my interest. It was a shame they were never able to implement it into eq1. Though they tried but the zone had horrible bugs so it didnt make it into PoP when it went live. Alteast that is what i remember being told.

So, Vhalen, how would you descibe these planar entities? Gorynn sort of sounds like he could possibly be a demi-god, similar to Sullon Zek, but Derris sounds more like some powerful being who, sort of like High Priest Ultor Szanvon, or Salczek the Fleshgrinder, or other powerful denizens of the planes of power. So how would you classify these two?

Hmm. I must admit, I always wondered if there was some diety/champion who represents the acts of looting war spoils and taking valuables on the battlefield.

One thing I notice right off the bat (other then Gorynn = Goro from Mortal Kombat), is that Gorynn is not a Zek, where as Derris is apart of the Zek family.

Gorynn vs. Sullon Zek would be an interesting fight to see.

Lol, ease up C, just jerking your chain. Though if anyone ever laid awake at night wondering if there was a EQ2 God of wartime grave robbers, it would be you. Serriously though, we really need something new to talk about...Really, Im thinking Valen needs to finally get to letting out some of that drek he's been hiding from us. All those ideas and no outlet is going to hurt his brain sooner or later.
