<DIV>First of all, there are soo many topics and posts i really didnt want the headache of reading through for 3 hours just to find one little bit of info. I have read the lore and backgrounds and all around done more "homework" than the average computer gamer but i need more info about the history of the High elves to build my character for RPing.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My main questions are: </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>How long ago was Felwithe overrun? </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Where did the High elves go specifically? (IE where would I have been born most likely)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any links to good maps would be helpful, and any other information would always be great. I just need that little bit more to have a good bio going.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I'm a High-Elf Fury on Antonia Bayle.</DIV>

I believe the War of Fae started somthing like 450-350 years ago, well within a high elf life time. The high elf went to Qeynos later after the War of Fae, because of a dream that Tunare gave them. Shortly after everyone arrived in Qeynos/Freeport the rending began (except us Iksar, we got lucky with a boat heading to invade Faydwer, got washed ashore on old antonica after Cabalis was totaled by the lake of ill omen). I think the time for the rending was around 300-250 years ago. The shattering, when Lucin exploded, happened 25-15 years ago for comparison.

You can find alot of the information you are looking for in "The History of the Kaoda'Dal", a book you can buy in Qeynos.
<DIV>After the War of Fay (Fay as in Faydark/Faydwer, not Fae as in Fairy), many of the Koad'Dal went to Tunaria (Antonica) to help defend against the Rallosian army. After the last battle, the rest of the Koada'Dal received a vision telling them to go to "the cities of men". Now we know most of them went to Qeynos, but that left it open to consider the much geographically closer Freeport. Honestly, if it weren't for the destruction of the Knights of Truth and the Priests of Marr, we might see high elves in Freeport, but that did not fit the "good vs evil" mentality that went into the game design regarding the two major cities.</DIV>

<P>so comparitively its about 8 to 1 highelf to human years? 800 - 100 which means i shoiuld be around 200-250 years old? does that sound about right? See I've never put this much effort into a character for RP before and i want to make sure i know what im doing before i start making claims and such in the game. Hence a blank Bio and unknown past. All of your info has really helped alot. Based on this it would be safe to say i Was born right around the rending, in more likely the commonlands before moving OR in antonica? </P> <P>Anymore tid-bits about RPing a high-elf would still be much appreciated but at least now i have a good grasp. thanks everyone</P> <P> </P><p>Message Edited by RustyRoo21 on <span class=date_text>06-11-2006</span> <span class=time_text>09:30 PM</span>

<P>As a side note, it has been revealed now that Kelethin apparently survived the War of the Fay, and the Rending. (There are also some vague hints that <EM>maybe</EM> Felwithe did too--though it's pretty thin at the moment).</P> <P>Of course your character would not know this, (nor would any of those who fled the Faydwer in the time before the Rending cut it off from the shattered remains of Antonica.)</P> <P>Your character's parents however, could easily still be living, (probably middle-aged in Elvish terms), and would have first hand knowledge of the Faydwer.</P> <P>Your character's grandparents, if still living, would have been children or adolecents (Elf-wise) around the time of EQLive.</P> <P>__________________________________________________ ______________________________________</P> <P>As to role-playing, well, that is each person's empty canvas upon which to paint. </P> <P>A couple of things for you to consider: </P> <P>Because of the vast differences in life spans between Humans and Elves, any Human partner would die of old age centuries before their Elven spouse would even be considered 'thirty-something'. Even their offspring would be dead of old age before the Elvish partner was considered a "Senior Citizen'.</P> <P>It may be one reason why intermarriage would be frowned upon in Elvish society. Racial considerations and elitism might be another. The Ayr 'Dal, (even according to their EQLive descriptor), are looked upon as outcasts and stigmitized by their mixed ancestory.</P> <P>The Koada 'Dal have a reputation in human society as being haughty, aloof, and arrogant. </P> <P>Humans, in turn are often regarded as impetuous, foolish, and short-sighted by the Koada 'Dal.</P> <P>These attitudes again may be a reflection of the differences in longevity between the two races. </P> <P>Humans feel a greater sense of urgency perhaps, than their Elvish counter-parts. From an Elvish point of view they may regard this as nothing more than a bunch of Chicken Little's running around shouting, "The sky is falling. The sky is falling!" (although in this case the sky really WAS falling), and generally making a mess of things which the Elves are then left to clean up.</P> <P>Humans feel frustration when Elves seem to be indifferent to Human concerns and this indifference sometimes leads to the accusation of Elves being foolish, and indecisive even when the wolves are at the door.</P> <P>These are just ideas to accept or reject as you please. They are not shared by all who role-play Elves by any means, but it is the traditional stereotype that has been portrayed in many fantasy games and most fantasy literature.</P> <P>Season to taste. </P> <P><SPAN class=time_text></SPAN> </P><p>Message Edited by Mary the Prophetess on <span class=date_text>06-12-2006</span> <span class=time_text>12:24 AM</span>

There are several things I keep in mind when RPing an High Elf. 1) First their were dragons, planted by Veeshan on Norrath. To keep Veeshan in check Brell, Tunare, Prexus and Ralos Zek created their own races on Norrath; The Dwarves, High Elves, Kedge (Murmen) and Giants respectively. - RP effect: Remember that you are one of the first races of Norrath. With the exception of the races above all the other races of Norrath are but children in comparison. High Elves view them selves as the Elders, tasked by Tunare to look over Norrath and its races (Help those good aligned and smite those evil aligned) - Humans in Particular are viewed as adolecants, a race who are rash, impatient and greedy but can also be bold, valient and kind. 2) High Elves are the origional Magic wielders, the Erudites learn't all they know of magic from aquired High Elf scrolls and texts. - RP effect: High Elves are expirenced magic wielders, younger races can often be seen as dangerous when wielding magic, some what like a child with fire. 3) High elves are lithe and reletively fragile compared to many of the other races. They fight with mind and soul rather than sheer stamina and strength. Traditionaly the only fighter class open to High Elves was Paladin. - RP effect: High Elves are agile, wise and intelegent. They choose their fights carefully (this is often viewed on by humans as indecisive etc). A high elf fights with magic and the divine powers granted by Tunare. - Traditional Roles: Paladin, Conjourer, Wizard, Illusionist, Templar. Acceptable roles: Warden, Fury, Ranger, Bard. Summing up: - High Elves beleive they are Tunares chosen protectors of Norrath, thorough fighting off evil and purging couruption they are forfilling their godesses will - As above they view the younger races as children, unappriaciative of their efforts to help them and jealous of their abilities. - High Elves fight with mind and soul over strength of arms. Skill over brute force etc. Hope this helps Felindar Fierblade <GUK> <div></div>

<DIV>When it comes to the physical appearence of elves, they all look pretty young, that is why there is no age slider for them (unlikes humans, barbarians, etc). Once any of the elven races reach maturity (possible exceptions with half elves, depending on how much human blood they have in them), they almost cease to age. Signs of ages for Teir'Dal and Koada'Dal include their hair going white, and at extreme ends (here we're talking 750 mark with high elves, 600 mark with dark elves), they might just be beginning to get a few wrinkles around the eyes, and their cheek bones might be getting more defined, if not already so. Commenting on the white hair, it is not uncommon at all for both dark and high elves to be born with white hair, so it is often unnoticed, however, as they age passed their midpoint, both races tend to get white hair, not the balding, brittle white hair us humans get, but healthy, thick, fresh snow colored hair for the High Elves, and maybe more of a bleached bone color for the Dark Elves, but equally thick and healthy.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>So just because your elf looks to be 20ish, she could be 400 years old, easily. The only true distinction is the age of the eyes. If you're elf has seen a lot, and has gained much wisdom, their eyes will show that, as the saying goes, Eyes are Windows into the Soul.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV>

<DIV>Ok, perfect my eyes are really openeing up to this. My last question/s would be:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Still, where would the most likely birthplaces for me have been. (424 years old)</DIV> <DIV>And, What is the current date and year in Norrath? What kind of calendar is there? </DIV> <DIV>Does anyone know of a timeline i could use?</DIV><p>Message Edited by RustyRoo21 on <span class=date_text>06-12-2006</span> <span class=time_text>11:32 AM</span>

<DIV>The current date of Norrath depends on which server you're playing on. Because of this technicality, I suppose all I can say is that it's still been only 500 years since the time split between EQlive and EQ2, no matter how many years you've been playing the game.</DIV>

<DIV>Players have been trying to construct a workable timeline for Norrath, since, well since there was a Norrath. It is a very difficult prospect, becuase there are few hard dates given, and the dates given are not usually referenced to any particular event, or each other.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Usually the best you can come up with is something like, "The founding of Erudin happened after the enlightenment of the Barbarians by the Marr Twins", or similar type statements.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Here is a link to the player made time-line at Wikipedia, which is as good as any you will find. Remember though it is player made, not designer made, and is only as good as the information the players have imputed. I saw a couple of errors (I thought) looking it over, but it is about the best you are going to find until the designers themselves construct one for us. Like all the player made time lines there is a fair amount of speculation and guess work involved.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Whether the designers actually will construct an 'official' time-line, (as Vhalen has hinted at), or not remains to be seen. It is probably a minefield even for the designers because of the potential to overlook some other previously released official lore, and having the players throw it back at them (as will almost invariably happen).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>At any rate, here is the link.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Caveat Emptor.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><A href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everquest_timeline" target=_blank>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everquest_timeline</A></DIV>

424 years ago, I believe you can have her born almost anywhere. Elves have always been on Antonica (Tunaria), even if the seat of their kingdoms have moved on. Especially during the Age of Turmoil, we have High Elves locked in dungeons in High Keep, High Elves in Inns in Freeport, the Koada'Dal defenses of High Pass when Teir'Dal forces marched on it (also known as the War of Bloody Kithicor), enchanted High Elf princess swimming around Lake Rathetear, plus the overwhelming number of adventurers who were all over. You could have been born in Qeynos, Freeport, High Hold Keep, an inn in High Pass, Rivervale, Halas, or even in the wilds, like the plains of Karana, the Rathe Mountains, the Desert of Ro, though I suppose your mom probably wouldn't have been traveling a whole lot given her condition, it all depends on what type of company your mom kept, and what kind of woman she was. Most snobby High Elves probably would have held up in one of the nicer cities of Freeport or Qeynos, or High Pass and surrounding places. I believe that she might have even been able to be born in Felwithe, but I think it would have been after the War of the Fay, and during it's reconstruction (again, with the lack of definitive timelines, that one is a little iffy), or even on the boat ride to Antonica from Faydwer, traveling with your father who was deployed to bolster the human cities that were under seige by the Rallosian Army (again, little iffy on exact time specifics, might have been a little bit later), so as not to seperate families.
