Haven't delved much into the lore of this place yet. Any info?

Interesting side-note:

The city on the Plane of Knowledge was called, New Tanaan.

I suggest you wait for Fallen Dynasty to actually go live first before we start discussing the lore behind it.

Mary the Prophetess wrote:

Interesting side-note:

The city on the Plane of Knowledge was called, New Tanaan.

Yeah that was kind of obvious when it was revealed that the whole focus of this adventure pack was to travel to the island where Tanaan was located, and to help Zebuxoruuk recover his memory.

From what we know, the island of Mara was settled by the Whistling Fist clan. This was Master Zan Fi's refuge where his order would be based and grow. Though it was never closed off to outsiders, it was very much out of the way... hence the reason it has taken so long to stumble across it post-Shattering.

The Wantia people moved to Mara after the Shattering destroyed their original island, and made friends with the Whistling Fists. They have constructed a village of their own there.

We also know from official lore and statements from the EQ2 devs that we are here to help Zebuxoruk recover his memory, which was somehow lost because of the Rending/Shattering (or, more likely, directly because of Druzzil Ro's actions which split the timeline). Since in the past Zeb has been intimately tied to Tanaan and the Tanaanites, it would lead me to believe that the original Tanaan (which I don't think was ever uncovered in EQ1) is hidden on this island... probably in ruins (judging by the Tanaan ghosts running about).

Now, putting all of this together, I'm going to say that Tanaan was destroyed (and with it Zeb's memory) by the gods, either directly or indirectly, because they were primarily responsible for the mortals flooding into the planes. That is, of course, all speculation :smileywink:

Cusashorn wrote:

I suggest you wait for Fallen Dynasty to actually go live first before we start discussing the lore behind it.

Using a suggestion like that in these forums would successfully wipe out half the topics... all of them good ones. If you do not want to see Fallen Dynasty lore ahead of time, don't click any threads that mention something about the Fallen Dynasty, or stop reading when you realize what it is. No one is twisting your arm... unless you're a completionist like myself and have to have a "0" under New Posts for every thread :smileyvery-happy:
