Something that had been noted in the EoF forums, is that it looks like luclin is starting to reform. (more like one solid mass, rather than the smashed plate that it was before)

I don't know if this has been posted before but I figured I'd post something just in case.

Now I could be wrong and it could be the moon turning so we are seeing the un-scarred side of the moon (asking the question could something have survived?) But personally I think that this has more to do with the gods returning, could it be Druzzil Ro, Goddess of Magic, reforming her realm?

What do you guys think?

Sorry that I don't have any old or new pics to hand to show you what I mean but look at the night sky in Norrath and you should see what I'm talking about. (Obviously doing that in Nek may not be the way to start a stunning career as a planetolagist )

Could I call upon someone else to post some pics of the moon now and how it was?

Sometimes I have to agree that the moon looks slightly different than on other nights. But its not =(BUT I have noticed that on some nights in Norrath there is a second moon that is full and vibrant. Has anyone else seen that? Some nights if you look around all you see the the shattered moon but I swear on other nights you look around and you see the shattered moon, but you also see another moon! Anyone else notice that?

Norrath has two visable moons, Luclin (Which changes it's appearance beause it rotates on it's axis after it blew up used to be tidaly locked to Ro since it had a day ide and night side) and Drinal which is still Tidally locked. to Norrath

Yep thats Drinal, been up there all through EQ1 and dont remember of hearing about any one trying to travel to it.

With the gods returning if Luclin is one of them what realm will she go back to? Will she try to recreate the old? or make some thing of the other moon? Hmm

Since I didn't post on the first thread:

Yeah, as others have mentioned, it's something of an illusion. Luclin has always stayed in something of a fixed rotation, where the same side always faced Ro (the sun). From Norrath, this would give the impression that IT was spinning, since depending on the time of year, and what not, you would see the moon from a different angle, since Luclin pretty much did not change.

Kind of complicated, but if you think about it a moment, it makes sense. Sure is pretty, though *stares at the fractured peices of Luclin, oooh's, aaahhh's, kills a lizardman*

You have to wonder though if anything survived on Luclin after its destruction. Also if in the near possible future by "the will of the gods" the moon is reformed undoing what the "Great Sleeper, Kerafyrm" has done. I went through a 2nd time with an alt of mine doing the prismatic 1.0 quest line. I still cannot fathom how powerful Kerafyrm is right now in the EQ2 lineage.

Almost have to wonder if Kerafyrm has reached a sub diety level or even a diety level all his own for being born.

I don't care what anyone thinks. I hope everyone up there died and permanently stays dead with no hope of ever being introduced into the game.

That's one way to avoid another "No gods ever!" debacle.

But it seems a lot of lore went into the travel of the Combine empire to there. I hope we do not see an expansion leading us there again. I would not mind meeting some survivors though. I mean somebody had to escape back to Norrath. Just so we could get some more details on exactly what happened there but I think the developers wish to leave it as a mystery left to be unsolved. I never liked the idea of space travel but I would not completely leave it out for good as an idea in the minds of the developers. After all we know of existance of other worlds that have been invaded by the creatures of the obelisk. If anything, if the developers ever do plan on introducing other worlds outside of Norrath. I would hope that is a very far off expansion. Its definately not something I would be happy to hear about. There is so much content within Norrath they could add. I do not see any reason to jump to other worlds/moons. When they announced the Shadows of Luclin expansion I was quite suprised. I could not see any reason for us to start exploring another place outside of our planet when so much was left to be discovered on Norrath. They should not have any trouble to keep us interested with content here on Norrath in EQ 2. If anything if we ever run out of places to discover on the surface, start making expansions that go into the Underfoot of Norrath. The latest one went into the sky, which was a lot better than the SoL idea. Even though I found it quite strange we could already make travel to some isles in the sky but we could not get a boat over onto the other continents. In EQ 1 I still do not think the developers have ever did anything with the entrance to the Plane of the Underfoot in the Hole. If I was a developer back then, I would have made an expansion dealing with that before I would have suggested the idea of lets send them to the moon! :smileywink:

Message Edited by TheManInTheBox on 06-04-2006 01:37 AM

I totally agree. What was sort of funny about the KoS expansion was the gnome-engineered rocket, though, since that was sort of a running gag in EQ. If they did to the Shards of Luclin expansion, I would have to imagine that parts of it would be very similar to KoS, they had some rainforest type places, some dark, brooding places that were in permanent night (no purple goo, though), and hot, arid places that were in constant day. All of which would be on a floating island held loosely together by the gravity of the larger peices and of Norrath. Wait a second...where did these islands come from again?

Message Edited by Nocturnal Abyss on 06-04-2006 12:35 AM

Unless Vhalen says otherwise or the Odus Expansion comes out and it isn't there. to me Shar Vahl is hovering over the Hole, the explosion sending the city (and parts surrounding zones) back into space and through "Affinity Resonance" ended up close to where it started. Interesting concept; Upper( Shar Vahl/Luclin fragment) and lower Odus(Shattered wasteland of the otiginal)

Not to draw the convo away from future expansions :smileytongue: but back to Luclin

I think it's about time we reassessed the situation, recently looking at Luclin I thought that it was drawing together I posted (this thread) and was told that it is an optical illusion due to the turning of the moon and that the other moon was moving infront of it.

So I thought "ok that sounds plasable" and went on my merry way.

However last night while waiting for a spawn I was looking at the moon again, and I'm not so sure that it is the different phases and that the moon is turned in different ways anymore, if you rememeber the moon before had a lot of debrie around it and when looking at it last night, also going to different zones and looking at it there as well, the debrie seems to have cleared up. There is still the scaring either side of it but the chunks of the moon appear to have gone and the moon seems to be in roughly 6 piece's and no longer can you see the core of the moon under the crust as you could before, now I was very careful to make sure that I wasn't mixing up the moons as before and checked from a few different zones and it honestly does look like it's in much larger parts than it previously has been.

Can anyone else check this and either confirm or denie it for me?

Message Edited by Jaale on 06-05-2006 12:01 PM

I'm just going to touch on the traveling to Luclin in EQ2 thing.. we don't have the spires anymore, and I doubt the knowledge to build those ones. Then again we re-built the ulteran ones that had appeared, so who knows. If the spires to luclin would be rebuilt.. i wouldn't want to be in the first group up there. Who knows if it still has an atmosphere.

I've looked at old screenshots my boyfriend and I have of Luclin from March 2005 and then again in May 2006.. it looks the same in the screen shots. I think this is a conspiracy theory that is reaching way too far into what is not there.

We need a sticky at the top of this forum that explains how lunar rotation works so these threads don't pop up once a week.
