<DIV>An idea I had today. Would a channel for lore discussion available to all servers be a good idea?</DIV>

Awesome idea.<div></div>
<DIV>I have to say it is an interesting idea that has merit but a problem maybe the channel degrading into shouting matches.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I think if they do make a lore discussion channel they need to moderate it by allowing people who wish to discuss EverQuest lore into it. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>There are people on my server on the 60-69 chat channels that can act like real idiots sometimes and I would hate for alot of use to get into a heavy discussion to have them ruin our train of thought.</DIV>
Well if we decide to start one right here then only people that read the history and lore forums would know of it.<div></div>

<font face="Comic Sans MS">I like the idea of this channel. I would be actively involved. <span>:smileyhappy:</span>I wouldn't think idiots would just come in there and start sh*t with people just trying to discuss lore. But then again we do have a lot of immature idiots in this game. But that goes with any online game.</font><div></div>

'kay, went ahead and made a channel. For those of you on Antonia Bayle, it's "H&L". For everyone else, it's "antonia_bayle.H&L".

Is anyone else having the problem with the channel where anything entered into it displays as "$3"?

<div></div>I joined the channel (as Ashaija), but all I can see from anyone typing something there is $3.And three dollars just get a tad boring after a while <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />I'm already in several cross-server channels, so I have no idea why this occured :/<div></div>edit: I see others got it too, could it possibly having something to do with there being a & in the chat name?<p>Message Edited by LordSarig on <span class=date_text>05-26-2006</span> <span class=time_text>03:41 PM</span>

Nice idea. When I try to enter though, all that I can see is everyone saying $3.

<P>I think I know why. The number assigned to me for H&L is the same as the one for the EQ2 Commons channel that was programmed to stop people from spamming the devs with countless amounts of questions. Since I am the founder of the channel, the code must have accidently copied over. I created a second channel named eq2lore with an alt, and it works fine. So it's eq2lore for people on AB, and antonia_bayle.eq2lore for everyone else.</P>

<DIV>Hi,</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> There is also an existing lore channel, which you can access via<BR> /join Lucan_Dlere.eqlore</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV> The channel has existed for about a month and is quite popular.</DIV> <DIV><BR> Send a tell to Lucan_Dlere.Draxehn if you have any questions about it.</DIV> <DIV> You can also read about the eqlore channel under the Lucan D'Lere forums,<BR> in the thread EQLORE.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Daust<BR></DIV>

<P>Talked things over with Draxehn, here's what we've decided.</P> <P>eqlore / lucan_dlere.eqlore is for discussion on lore that is cold, hard fact, no speculative stuff. This is where you go if you want to learn about lore that you may be ignorant of.</P> <P>eq2lore / antonia_bayle.eq2lore is for speculative lore, stuff that's more hazy like the Shadowed Men, this channel is for debating theories that aren't 100% certain to be accurate.</P> <P>H&L / antonia_bayle.H&L is for discussion on $3.</P><p>Message Edited by Astralmage on <span class=date_text>06-05-2006</span> <span class=time_text>02:18 AM</span>

Got some exciting news:The Lucan D'lere lore room, the one for educating lore-based RPers on known lore and enhancing the RP environment of our server... reached 68 people at one point today!Of course, im kinda cheating... and using it as a discussion room for the storyline we are running on the server as well, and that storyline has over 100 RPers involved.. so a lot of people are in the room because of that.. But still.. 68 people in a user channel!!The Lucan D'lere room is eqlore LDL server players type /join eqlore other servers type /join Lucan_Dlere.eqloreInformation on the storyline we are running can be found at our guildportal.com page.. just search guilds for Message of Unity.Renita, lets schedule some debates in your room... I wanna see both rooms break 50 on the same day!<div></div>

<DIV>I'm sorry, but I had to leave the Lucan server channel, there is no lore discussion. I endured a two hour cirucular argument about OOC information given IC and IC not knowing OOC and OOC information that should have been IC but was OOC eventhough OOC should have known IC before saying something OOC, and other nonsense. This argument also devolved into calling people puppets who are only there to act out other people's scenes that starred themselves. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Oh, at other times someone will brag about contacting Vhalen through email or PM or something and how great the person is becaused they got this information, and they didn't bother to share the lore in the messages.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>No, there isn't much lore in that channel. Hopefully the Antonia Bayle one will have lore discussions and not just RPer drama. :-/</DIV>

PvP servers are insulated against cross server communication to prevent exploits that allow roundabout methods of cross city communication.

Way ahead of you as for the ooc RP discussion. That was from the storyline.. we no longer use the chat channel for storyline discussion during an event since it is an isolated group of people involved anyways. However, I am not a chat channel [Removed for Content]... I am not going to jump down someones throat for discussing something that is not simply reciting lore. It is an ooc channel of friends... and most of us are RPers... so expect the occasional RP discussion. If you want to see talk about lore at a particular time of day in my channel.. do like everyone else does.. speak up! Ask a question.. ask for a tale.. you wont be disapointed.Draxehn Telunodir<div></div>

Sorry the PVP guys have to miss out.. we do discuss a lot of lore in the room, though it is a massive ooc channel so don't be suprised if we get off topic, and please don't assume and run around telling others we never talk lore.. lolActually rambled about kerrans of all things for 2 hours tonight.. my brain hurts.Draxehn<div></div>
<P>Quick question - Are non RP-ers welcome in these lore channels? </P> <P>I love learning lore but i know naff all about RP - in fact i am probably a RP worst nightmare as my mission is always to find out the real person behind the pixels, rather than something that is invented. Are those two facets mutually exclusive or am i showing my ignorance? <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P> <P>Kinda kept my mouth shut last night in LDL channel for many reasons, main one being i have read the RP'ers get offended easily if people wade in and start talking about RL, spelling things wrong, not putting brackets round etc. </P> <P>Thats all fine i don't mind, just didnt want to start annoying people. Guess I can just lurk awhile and pick it up as I go along <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></P>
"Quick question - Are non RP-ers welcome in these lore channels?"Your best bet is the eq2lore one, because the eqlore one only alienates and patronizes people who don't agree with them. (I'm sure you'll hear it to be claimed otherwise, but this is the experience of many people on the LDL server, hence the many arguments that break out on our boards).<div></div>
this is good news indeed! <div></div>

I have both AB and LD lore channels on autojoin, they've been very quiet lately. Is there another lore channel by any chance?<div></div>

<P>I've noticed this too, and in all honesty, the AB lore channel has usually been quite quiet. the LD channel was fairly noisy for a time, but the main person who worked to make it so left (or seems to have), and the lore chat went with him. I find there are usually more people in the LD one, and I try to go in there, and offer some lore tid bits now and then (twice this week, will probably do so again). If you want lore discussion in a channel, the best thing you can do is either start sharing the lore you do know, or start asking questions. Silence is easily ruined by someone choosing to talk.</P> <P> </P> <P> </P> <P> </P><p>Message Edited by Nocturnal Abyss on <span class=date_text>10-18-2006</span> <span class=time_text>03:55 PM</span>
