Sorry for the delay on this. I hate your question to go unanswered.

There are a lot of new symbols within Freeport. Now that the The Overlord has total control, he has demanded that new symbols replace the one's of old Freeport. Gone is the history, unless it relates to Lucan D'Lere. There are some instances of old symbols still remaining, but not the ones you speak of. The Freeport Militia symbol on their armor is derived from an anchor from an ancient war galley. Freeport is a coastal trade empire. The primary symbol you often see is of the Lucanic Helm. The history behind the Lucanic Knights will be revealed some time later, unless The Overlord thwarts our plans.

So you see, Freeport has many instances of new symbols. Qeynos retains more history. The oldest symbol in Qeynos is the Qeynos Crest. You can see it in front of Qeynos Castle. It is also a portion of the large stained glass window of the castle. The important part of the old crest is the color scheme. These colors were carried on the banners of the early human clans of the Plains of Karana. These colors burst forth from the center. Usually, covering the center will be a symbolic image of the location that the crest represents. In the case of old Qeynos, that symbol is the gatehouse of the early city. Here is an example of the Kingdom of Qeynos crest.

I just happened to be in North Qeynos when I read your post, Vhalen. I see that the crest on the castle (both in the lower left quadrant of the coat of arms in the window and on the shield above the portcullis) has two blue wedges taking up most of the space that is colored green on your example (the green wedges still exist but are smaller). Is that, perhaps, indicative of another Human clan coming to Qeynos between the times of EQ1 and EQ2?I also retain a bit of surprise that the Queen hasn't taken steps to recognize the extensive recent contributions of Elves, Dwarves, Halflings, Gnomes, Halasians, Kerra, and Erudites to the well-being of the city (although perhaps a couple of them are recognized on the coat of arms - the lower right quadrant shows an evergreen tree and the upper third shows a rising sun, with the Qeynos Claymore superimposed over all).Powers &8^]
