Last night in Qeynos Harbor the Statue of Antonia Started speaking. I ran over to her to watch since I haven't really noticed her speaking since game launch when there were lots of amazing voice overs, I really Wish I has saved the coin she gives you when you first arrive on the island! In any case, she was going on about the new year? And how Qeynos should look towards the future and not look upon past failures ect ectIt was a pretty long speach. Does anybody know what New Dawn Day is? Is it the Norrathian New year? Can we expect an event of some sort? :smileyvery-happy:~Wam

The statue of Lucan D'Lere in freeport also talks about the new orc threat and how they are not as dumb as they once were since the curse was lifted from them.

There are more and more and more hints being dropped about the Orcs. They are up to something no doubt, and it is not likely to be good for either Qeynos or Freeport, (though it seems Freeport may be more vulnerable).

The Bloodskull Orcs are being led by a betrayed admiral of the Deathfist Orcs who is seeking revenge against his betrayers in the Deathfist. The Rujarkian Orcs are giving equipment and training to both the Bloodskull and the Deathfist. Orcs are investigating pre-rending maps of the Commonlands, searching for --what? The Orcs of Zek are doing extensive mining and timber cutting. I believe fleets are being constructed--somewhere. The Blackhook Pirates are interested in the Obelisk of Lost Souls and 'voices from the past'. The scattered Orc clans are working closer together, that much seems clear; but under whose leadership, and for what purpose?

Perhaps we can let this thread be a spot where any clues can be gathered and discussed.

On an /OOC note:

It is maybe 80% certain that SOE's next 'big' expansion will be on the Faydwer, (Crushbone Orcs anyone?). Expect that to be on the market in time for Christmas, say, late October or November. However, that leaves a decided void, (marketing-wise), for the summer season. I would expect an adventure pak, or 'mini' expansion called 'The Rise of the Orcs', to hit the shelves in about a month to 6 weeks. These hints may be the build-up to that. Just a thought.

And now for something completely different!
Pure speculation from WAY out in left field.
The curse has been lifted. The cursed races of The Warlord, are slowly regaining their former levels of intellect. It would not suprise me in the least to see a new player race, and a new starting city, sometime in the next year. You guessed it, Orcs! Maybe in Deathfist Citadel? Though probably somewhere new--the Remains of the Rathe Mountains are still not on the map, nor is Innothule, though both are assumed to be submerged. We will see. I'm pretty sure New Dawn Day has been in there for a while, I remember hearing it a long time ago and thinking to myself about what it was.As to orcs being a playable race based out of Crushbone, wow, that'd be something. I'm not holding my breath though

It was stated in Raijin, blackguard, moorguards or some fanfare post that before the next expansion they will release an adventure pack this i'm 90% sure of I read. I would love to see something like this where the Orcs rise up against freeport with a huge week long special event and the same for qeynos except with the gnolls.

Have it end with each part surrendering and Freeport getting the new race/old race half-orcs that seek freeport alliance. Then have the kindly splitpaw gnolls seeking an alliance with Qeynos seeking refuge against the evil gnolls.

I say that the game is being release New Years, but can be pre-ordered around Christmas. The Orc lore has something to do with Faydwer also.

My quick 5 second theory.

I was under the assumption that the "Rise of the Orcs" was just a backstory to explain why the orcs models were changed recently; the models were changed for performance reasons. It would be great if it was more than that . . . :smileyhappy:

Vhalen has already hinted that the orcs are one of the "superpowers" of Norath, and that the relationships between the various orc clans had not been revealed yet. From these statements, I believe that we will see an expansion or adventure pack that deals with an orc threat. Obviously that probably won't be Echoes of Faydwer, but you never knowwhat that might reveal.

"Good people of Qeynos, I declare this day to be a day of festivities. Welcome everyone to our New Dawn Day celebration! The old year has passed; we stand at the threshold of a new year, full of promise and opportunity. May this be a time to reflect upon our past while looking forward to a glorious future! One may ask, “Why do we call the start of the new year ‘New Dawn Day’?” I believe it is because Qeynos is like the sun in early morning. We already shine with the unmatched brilliance, but our full power has yet to come forth into the world. We have only seen the sliver of our city’s golden destiny. And we are all a part of that light, that shining beacon that illuminates Norrath and awakens her from her dark slumber. As Norrath gently turns on her axis and revolves around the sun, each of us becomes a living light that guides all peoples into the Age of Destiny. We are like the stars in the night sky. For Qeynos must lead the way. The ideals which we have championed are the one true hope for peace and prosperity in this world. It is up to Qeynos to show all of Norrath what is possible when truth and justice, equality and mercy are enthroned. I am merely a handmaid to the real rulers: our ideals. These are what we look to for guidance. And words cannot express the gratitude I feel…to be entrusted with this august responsibility. To stand here before you and before all of Qeynos fills me with great pride. I know that we will seize opportunity, this new year, to advance our cause and spread liberty throughout the land! We shall not dwell on failures of times past. Instead we will live for the future. Each of us will strive for the common good, and for the highest ambitions to which we aspire. This the meaning of New Dawn Day!"Is this the Queen's reference to the anniversary of Qeynos founding? I first heard the speech on April 12th.

Message Edited by PsiaMeese on 05-04-2006 09:58 PM

Wasn't EQ1's 7th anniversary during april?, perhaps that could elude to the speech that was given. then again perhaps it was a new calendar year in game? just a thought. /shrug
