<DIV>Haven't read all that much lore yet but have a question about why orcs are the enemy but not the ogres (for Freeport).</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If I understand it correctly the gods went on pickning, the orgres became smarter and more agressiv,</DIV> <DIV>rounded up the orcs and attacked pretty much the rest of the world. (short comic generalising version)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Now in Freeport ogres are apart of the city (even a playable race) but the orcs are still the enemy.</DIV> <DIV>Anyone knows why and/or has a link to the history that explains this?</DIV>

<DIV>Ogres were almost wiped out during the 2nd Rallosian War by the Greenmist.  The only Ogres who survived the war (that we know of) were those hunting down Frogloks in Guk.  In addition to this, the leader of this group of Ogres went insane and had to be killed.  So when the Overlord saw it was to his advantage to let these fellows into Freeport, the Ogres weren't exactly in a position to say "no".</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Orcs weren't targetted by the Greenmist (because they did not participate in the raiding of the Temple of Cazic Thule).  Though they lost the war, they were still in a position of power and not in the desolate state that prompted the Overlord to let in the Ogres.</DIV>

<DIV>And you can blame Lucan himself for allowing the surviving orcs to get away and recover from the war. The Avatar of Tranquility told him that they were in a position to finish the orcs off once and for all, but nooooo. Lucan was happy just stealing the Soulfire back for himself.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>And look at what is happening to Freeport now. Yep. You can thank your mighty dictator.</DIV>

<P>The orcs were not targeted by the Greenmist and that reason will be explained later. All I can say is, at the time, the Rallosian ogres were the greater threat. But to who were they a threat and why?</P> <P><BR>The ogres of Freeport are a different story. Do not confuse them with the ogres of the Rallosian Army. Freeport had its own contingent of ogres assigned before the second rise of the Rallosian Empire. Freeport had already been training ogres to fill special ranks within the Freeport Militia. The Overlord was no fool to ignore the strengths of the ogres. This union became possible after the Teir'Dal Empire removed the ogres from the First Gate. Near the end of the Age of Turmoil, the ogre and dark elf alliance was withering. Some ogres saw the opportunity of foreign alliances and this would lead to the ogre division of the Freeport Militia, one of the most feared. During the Battle of Defiance we got a chance to see brother fight brother as ogres of Freeport clashed with ogres of the Rallosian Empire. The original ogre clan of Freeport is as follows:</P> <P><BR><STRONG>Clan Bouldercrush:</STRONG><BR>For a brief time, the ogres of Oggok maintained an embassy in the lower trade district of Freeport. Why this district-it is the major brewing district. Their embassy and barracks is made of oggrock that was transported in giant slabs from Oggok. This embassy is shunned by most Freeportians, as the Ogres can tend to get too groggy and too rowdy. There is a small shrine inside and a training court in the rear. The Ogres also maintain a large supply of kegs filled with a wide variety of liquor from around Norrath, their favored currency in the black market. The smell of rotting meat is prevalent. The Ogres do not welcome guests. From here the Freeport Militia ogre division is trained. Ogres do not eat humans, that much... anymore, but every once in a while, the Ogres will invite a drunken trotter in for <EM>"dinner".</EM> The ogre Ambassador is in charge of the contingent and is a shaman, so to keep the warriors and shadowknights from killing each other. A warrior trainer and a shadowknight trainer are bunked here. Rare brewing recipes can be sold at the Bouldercrush House for good coin. <BR><STRONG>Faction Leader: Ambassador Zulort</STRONG><BR></P> <P> </P>

<DIV>If that orc army was destroyed don't you think a stronger one would have been sent into the Commonlands?</DIV>

Shortly after the greenmist had subsided and the war raging was down to just a few thousand orcs pestering from Bloodskull valley and the Ree orcs of wailing caves i would guess they got cut off from Zek and the Isle of Ro until recently. Also think about it, half of your army is gone, in terms of races fighting it. Would you as a general send the rest of your army out to be smashed by Qeynos and Freeport?</P> <P>And thus NOW we are seeing the orcs all over being supplied by the orcs of the Isle of Ro, instead of a while back.</P> <P>What makes me think though about this is...</P> <P>Why arent the Orcs in Antonica? Why are they only attacking Freeport? How did the gnolls survive during the wars if the orcs and ogres went after Qeynos? Wouldn't the gnolls be compition to the orcs and ogres and thus taken care of?</P>

<P>i have few of Gnoll books, story of Flippy. </P> <P>no, the orcs and gnolls made the pact to allow raliosain orges and several orc clans to gain passage to qeynos, but that day saved both FP and Qey from getting overunned by the cataclysmic breaking up moon of luclin and destroyed most hordes, and they decided to give up and went back to what left of thier homelands.</P> <P>you can see the status painting, Exiles of Knights, part of reminder.</P> <P>And, also, check out the dead dry riverbed near Thundermist Village, tons and tons of bones, where the greatest battle occur. you can run along from the dock to cove of decay and see all the trail of bones.</P> <P>Centaurs were the ally of qeynos until distruction of karana plainland, many went insane.</P> <P>Firerock giants got in middle and got on bad sides with several factions.</P> <P>it was perfect for Varsoom to gathering those bones and raise them up for front line defenses to keep out explorers and adventurers who will eventaully discovered his research lair.</P>
