Would I be an idiot to guess that it's the Everlings? Four daughters and a young son that died? I even see a couple lockets in those pictures if I am not mistaken.<div></div>

<div>That one that looks like he's holding a Moppet isn't.</div><div> </div><div>He's just wearing armor. What you think is a moppet is his sheathed sword and armor.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>As for the family in question, I don't know, but there's a lot of other paintings that can't be identified either.</div>
look at the one in the bottom left corner. That's a sword? 0o<div></div>

<div></div>I'm gonna have to vote the Everling family as well. Just matches up too much. Nice catch on the forest in the background. While its not dark and dreary like the nektulus we know and love, technically Nektulus forest should'nt be dark any more since lavastorm is so far away now and the ash no longer covers the forest sky like in eq1.

Sheila, Jenni, Crystal, Melani, Deidre, Elise, as well as sons Ollix and Maltus.I don't believe that picture is of the everlings. It could be Rikantus, Ollix and 4 of the daughters, before the younger two were born but after Maltus had left, but that doesn't really make sense.</span></div>

I remember reading a book in game a long time ago that described how Everling came upon his fortune and build the Castle overlooking Nektulos forest. Is he residing there in life or undeath? As you meet his childern in the castle most appear as ghosts or zombie forms, but a few like Maltus and himself do not appear to be undead. Maybe they are indeed dead/undead and I'd say who knows, but we all know that Vhalen does.</p><p>Now Vhalen did just state that Maltus was indeed dead so that much is answered. However, he is carrying on his fathers (as well as his own?) work in undeath. For what continued purpose though?</p><p>Now between Rikantus's quests, the quests inside the castle, "The Monsters" book, and the few HQ's that involve the family it leaves a lot more questions than it does answers.</p><p>Though with various bits and peices we learn that the sole reason we are lead into the castle is to be guniea pigs(or much worse). It is apparent that the plan is to tempt adventurers, etc into seeking these riches and rare artifacts, and through this lure we find ourselves heading toward the castle and into Rikantus deceptive trap without question.</p><p>Rikantus obviously is in Antonica to ensure that a constant stream of parts....er guniea pigs make their way to his castle. Which is why I also have felt for a long time that the person you meet out in Nek forest with "calling in the forest" is part of this deception as well.</p><p>We did learn that one of the machines Maltus is working with uses supplied body parts to create animations(something like that). Which would be all the patchwork men outside/inside the castle. What purpose though does such a machine warrent. Making abominations from spare parts just for the sake of doing so? Or is there much, much more that this machine was intended to do?</p><p>While my reaction was that Rikantus should have more than met his natural lifespan by now I for some reason just have the feeling that maybe he is very much alive. Just the combination of everything we knows give me a feeling of such. A lot of the various things he seems to be experimenting with give the feeling that he is/was seeking a "Fountain of Youth" of sorts.</p><p>Maybe all of those spare parts help supply and renew his own body so that he keeps living, or maybe through the use of his dolls he is transfering his spirit around into new host bodies. "The Monsters" was indeed a very odd read, and just leaves you wondering what else he could or would do with such knowledge.</p><p>In the end maybe I am just a crackpot with an overactive imagination trying to fill in the gaps between the known and unknown without knowing anything at all about what I am talking about.</p><p>Either way you be the judge and let your own imaginations try to come to terms with what is going on with this family. At least until Vhalen stops having fun toying with us and gives us more concrete info.</p><p>Vhalen your half statements that trail off unfinished only make this whole thing have even more questions, but then that is your whole intent. This journal was seemingly written after the rest of his family had died (or moved on in the possible case of Rikantus). It also seems to have been written by someone who was very much alive, as it mentions him waking up in a cold sweat, and spending restless nights in bunks etc. These do not sound like things that a creature of death would suffer from!It may be that he is now undead and "living" in the bowels of Nektropos. OK, I'm working on "The Fleshbound Tome Speaks Again" as I write this, and I have a couple questions/comments...1) How long ago did all these people live? According to Vhalen, the castle was created "well before" Lucan came to power...So we're talking 100s of years? Everling's journal is dated 3145 when speaking of the death of his sons, but /time in game lists this as year 0, so that does a fat lot of good. I know it used to so a normal date, can anyone give me an estimate of what it is now?2) Do we know who/what killed the 6 daughters? One of Everling's Journal Entries (The one that says the sons "past" on), says "I was forced to watch the horror.....my own children.....before my eyes......I live now only to avenge them......."3) Who's Drusis? In the Fleshbound Tome, when Maltus enters the first bedroom, he talks of feeling comfort, and a great love for the place. Then he says "I hear the name Drusis."4) Finally, where's it revealed Theeral is the mother of the six Everling daughters? Just curious <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> On a related note, anyone with a 20ish alt who could run through the Calling of the Forest quest and log the dialogue? It might give us some clues...OK, enough questions, now, comments. First, one of the entries in the Flesh Bound Tome is indeed signed "Maltus Everling." Also, the very last page says "Welcome to the master" (This is after it's led you to Maltus). This seems to indicate that the entire thing was a trap. Somehow you get Maltus' journal, and it leads you right to him. Now, Ollix is obviously in on the ruse, though he is a ghost while Maltus is corporeal. Then there's of course the hermit.Second, it would appear Vhalen dropped a bit of a hint to Rikantus' state of being. "3. How many wives did Rikantus have in his lifetime?" This would imply that Rikantus, if it is him in Antonica, is in some state of undeath.Third, Maltus' state of being...Maltus, son of Rikantus, "perished" in Freeport. It could be over-analyzing, but any number of things could have happened to Maltus. The Everlings were deeply into the dark arts, and Freeport isn't the safest city to begin with. But even if he did survive his "death," there's no natural way he could still be alive in the present, assuming Alana was in fact a human. So I think it's safe to assume Maltus is also in some sort of undeath, or the Maltus currently in the castle is not the son of Rikantus. The issue I can't seem to resolve is that Maltus never lived in Nektropos Castle (At least, I assume not, as Vhalen said he died while the castle was still being built), so I don't know how to explain his reaction when he walked into the bedroom (Which I quoted above, about Drusis). It seems a lot like a memory, but if it wasn't Maltus', who was it?And there's one final issue...I don't think the devs are this sadistic (Even the one who created the beetle herding quest in DoF), but we have to consider the Fleshbound Tome is total B.S. It was a trap to lead us to Maltus, so we can't be sure it wasn't entirely fabricated.OK, that's it for now, but I'm going to go talk to Rikantus now, so I might have more later <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<div></div><p>To continue this mystery I add the following questions..</p><p>1. The Guards - Were they human? The daughters didn't like having the guards all the time and the guards were displeased when they were relieved from their duty. Maybe something happened?</p><p>2. The nightblood, the lamia, and the robots. These are all creatures from the shadowed man faction and are in Nek Castle. What connection is there? Perhaps this is why he Everling is trapping adventurers into his castle? They need more test subjects it seems. Maybe, just some of these Everlings are puppets inhabited by shadowed men?</p><p>3. One of the sisters had a pet bear. Shadowed men often inhabit bears. Thus the castle was ifniltrated.</p>

<P>Taken from the above link.</P> <P>Legend holds that Nektropos Castle was once the home of the wealthy Lord Everling and his many fair daugters their maids and his brave and dedicated soldiers. Everling adored his daughters above all else (some say too much) and constanly fretted for their safety and ignored the troubles of state. At the birth of each one he arranged the creation of a Eunuch to protect her. As they reached adulthood an uprising occured, led by the hugely fat lead eunuch, Plimptos, who sought revenge on Everling for his lost manhood. Plimptos obtained magical powers from a magic sword planted on him by angry townsmen who had lost everything due to Everling's proccupied rule. Plimptos slashed everyone to bits- except Everling, whom he punished by leaving unharmed amid the carnage of his loved ones. Some say the sword was lost amid the rubble in the stuggle. Everling began to crack as he tried to collect the pieces of his beautiful daughters. Eventually Everling stored his troops and daugter's parts in the cold underground dungeon catacombs of Nektropos. His madness and grief gave way to Wizardry as he stiched up the pieces again and again and after many ages, successfully reanimated them all. Unfortunately after all that time he couldn’t quite remember what went where and whose parts went with who… </P>
<DIV>That's an interesting find. I wonder where the information came from, but it looks either fabricated or out-dated. We know now that "Lord" Everling in terms of the castle today is Maltus, so it is not his daughters, but his sisters that were slaughtered. Lore tells us that the guardians themselves, I believe, returned and killed the family. I could be wrong on this, and I haven't done Nek Castle: The Return yet.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Actually, the more I look at it, it looks to be EQLive information. I guess this would support Vhalen's statement on how old the castle is if it were ever present in any form of EQLive lore. The post was made in August 2003, a full year before EQ2's release. It looks to be some sort of reference guide for Norrath, including the "originaly three" continents and Kunark. I wonder...was this an old internal "quick-reference" type of lore documents for Verant?</DIV>

<DIV>Due to the Everling's occult trade, the dark elves found it desirable to befriend the family. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Any Everling estate would contain numerous wonders gathered from around the globe. It is not uncommon to happen upon artifacts known in the Age of Turmoil and lost thereafter. But more often they are trinkets never known and whose (evil) powers are dormant. I would avoid such finds. We should not forget the family's past. The Everling's seemed to be plagued with tragedy. These tragedies are often the result of evil trinkets. The most horrible act would spawn from Plimptos. The tale of he and his fellow guardians is merely one of the many that are bound to Nektropos Castle, but his personal tale is very tragic. He certainly went through a lot of torment. Plimptos truly loved the six Everling daughters. Such love in the heart of a dormant madman can have devastating consequences. That madness erupted after being confined to his quarters for a long period of time. Ordinarily he would have been content to spend time in his chamber with the gifts that the daughters made him, but when Lord Everling commanded his personal attendant to remove the items, such as homemade greeting cards, painting, etc., well, that really sent him over the edge. The events that happened in that prison cell that was once his humble quarters, they are unknown. What is known is that Plimptos escaped through a means that could twist stone and steel. Once free, his rage would be let loose upon the House of Everling.<BR></DIV>
<DIV>So was Plimptos's quarters the same that we now find Pelleas in? And just who is Pelleas?</DIV>

Does anyone else believe we may be overlooking information on events involving Rikantus and his children? One thing that stood out to me upon reading the post is that Rikantus and Theeral are outside of the castle, which seemed odd. If it is true they are leading adventurers into a trap, why is it these two in Antonica and Nektulos? Why would the patriarch of the family and his wife opt to leave their home for the wilderness? If they really needed the bodies of adventurers why wouldn't Rikantus send Maltus or another one of the children and he stay behind to watch over the proceedings. Yet if they were forced out of the castle, why are they so obviously trying to lure people in? Just some questions that raised in my mind... <div></div>

Thought about my own questions for a bit longer (and thought it might be rude to post questions but not at least try to answer them, however wrong they may be) and came up with my own solution. Is it possible to concieve Rikantus and his wife being exiled from the castle? I've been reading the lore, and other replies on this topic, and can find no solid evidence of this, but was not able to exclude it. Perhaps kicked out by his own children after re-creating them, at the new form of life he submitted them too? (Or even perhaps in rage for being partially responsible for their death) If Rikantus was thrown from the castle, the reason why he would help adventurers (as far as I can tell) is to hurt, not help, Maltus and the others. Why else would Rikantus and Threeal test the adventurers before admitting them to castle? This could be a possible reason why they give equipment and test the strength of the adventurer before allowing them into the castle, they want to see how strong they are. Maybe their overall goal is to find someone who can eventually kill Maltus? (I recognize the possiblity that they may be selective in who they allow in because they only want strong individuals for the experiments) Just more thoughts to help feed discussion <span>:smileywink:</span> <div></div>

Having completed Nektropos: The Return last week, one thing there doesn't add up with everything I'm reading in this thread so far. Here's from my logs:(1152169019)[Thu Jul 06 02:56:59 2006] aNPC 5266650 Alana Everling:Alana Everling/a says, "What are you doing here? You should'nt be here..."(1152169040)[Thu Jul 06 02:57:20 2006] aNPC 5266650 <u>Alana Everling:Alana Everling/a says, "What??! You're here to kill my father?</u> No... I wont let you!"(1152169044)[Thu Jul 06 02:57:24 2006] aNPC 5266650 Alana Everling:Alana Everling/a says, "No... You would'nt dare kill me?! NO, PLEASE!!!!"(1152169044)[Thu Jul 06 02:57:24 2006] a cursed guardian hits Alana Everling for 795 points of slashing damage.(1152169044)[Thu Jul 06 02:57:24 2006] a cursed guardian has killed Alana Everling.Ok, so... Is that a) an error in the dialog b) An error on the NPC, or c) something we're still missing in the puzzle?Sheila, Jenni, Deirdra (I thought it was Deirdre?), Crysta and Melanie were there... So why is Elise swapped with Alana?<div></div>

<DIV>Ahh, but is it the Everlings? Or is it the vampire family from Bloodlines? Their tombstones are all readable in the instance. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Just random musings... I'm not trying to defend this. I haven't been to Bloodlines in a year now. =)</DIV>

Once free, his rage would be let loose upon the House of Everling.<BR></DIV><BR> <HR> </BLOCKQUOTE> <P><BR>Hmmm this is becoming quite an interesting development. I wonder what information we will find with the Nektropos revamp that is going to happen. All I know of is that there are 6 daughters of everling who's lockets you must procure in order to advance. The strangest thing is that some of the daughters have their quote "Guardians" in death probably put their to protect Everlings daughters in his madness not realizing what had occured. One guardian catchs my eye because as you start to tangle with that everling daughter another monster comes down being a tutor or teacher. </P> <P>You also have that huge Night Blood creature that seems to want to seek revenge upon one of the everling daughters. I deffinately have to wonder if that daughter perhaps disturbed the obelisk denziens in a way that they now want revenge. Perhaps she can be responsible for what is occuring right now in Rivervale as well as everywhere else?</P>

The nightblood was summoned by the daughter to attack another. We've been told this daughter has an interest in the occult just like her father. Did they frequent the obelisks in their quest for the knowledge they seek? What did they learn there that she was able to summon and command one of the Obelisk's own creatures? So many questions...so few answers. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /><div></div>

<P>If you do the lore quest that is in another thread, you find out that both Everling, and his daughter had some major dealings with the Shadowed Men (so it is not too surprising to see the daughter summoning a nightblood, or see a lamia jump you outside the Library when you do the Missing Mask HQ, and also explains the mislabeled (this has been commented on by Vhalen in other posts) "tinmizers" mechanized guardians behind the book case. The occult forces that the Everling family has been in touch with, and very possibly why the Teir'Dal were also interested as keeping allies with them, is the Shadowed Men, and the Obelisk of Lost Souls. The reason most of the mobs are golems (and the patchwork men outside the citidel...well, at least there <STRONG>used </STRONG>to be, but with a recent patch, that has been changed) are because they are reconstructed frankenstein-esque creations made by Rikantus when working on ways to peice back his butchered estate (if the previously mentioned Plimptos story is correct, and he butchered them all). Speaking of which, I <STRONG>believe </STRONG>that information may have been from the EQ Pen and Paper game, though I could be very wrong. Please note that EQ PnP is an independent venture from all the other EQ games, and so its lore must be taken with a grain of salt, and is very easily <STRONG>NOT</STRONG> EQ2 canon. That said, I believe a lot of information (moreso with the EQ PnP than with the EQ2 PnP) was from some of the original dev storyboards, and thus, we see Everling (no doubt, one of Vhalen's DnD adventures way back when, and more than likely why he has such a fondness for the Everling story <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> )</P> <P> </P> <P> </P>

I see someone is wondering who, or what, Alexa is. Alexa has a connection of sorts with one of the spirits of the House of Everling, but this was not always so. Alexa was a little known adventurer. One day she wandered into the dark halls of tower. Since then, she has never been the same. Alexa's spirit is now bound to Nektropos Castle and as so many souls bound there, she serves the wills of the master. But who is the master?

<div></div>Something to consider that (like soooo many other things isn't necessarily spelled out) is how the two sons died. All we know is that Rikantus watched in horror... I believe it possible that Maltus indeed didn't die at all. One thing we can assume is that the two sons "disappeared" in such a manner that their bodies couldn't be recovered, I would assume this merely because there is absolutely no talk of Rikantus attempting to revive his two dead sons, there are no pieces to reassemble or corpses to reanimate.I like to think that perhaps the sons "died" in a sailing mishap, or perhaps a fire or sorts, anything that can be witnessed but not prevented. Just imagine, Rikantus and Theeral watching their sons ship sail off toward the ocean of tears only to sink a few hundred meters off shore...but perhaps Maltus never made it aboard the ship, or possibly even survived with some memory loss.----------------------------------------------To sort of tap into the occult nature of their unnatural lifespans, I believe that would take a cue from the mystery that Rikantus and Varsoon share. They both unwittingly stumbled into the Obelisk of Lost Souls, the Void itself. There are many theories behind the origins of the shadowed men and their various species, but one thing is certain - they have mastered possession of living bodies and the secrets of the life energy known as the soul. I believe however, that whatever Rikantus and Varsoon have discovered from these extradimensional beings is not completely faultless and they are still struggling with a true sense of eternal life. With that in mind, take this possibility: A long lost son, thought to be dead appears at the doorstep of your cursed castle littered with you experiments and creations as your attempt to unlock the secret of immortality and the ressurection of your loved ones souls. What if this long lost son would make the perfect vessel for you to transfer your soul into, a youthful ressilient body that shared enough genetic coding with you to ensure a stable possession. Not only that, but this young host would also make the perfect specimen for a new technique you've learned with regard to preservation. Isn't that something Varsoon mumbles to you as you stumble into his chamber?I wish more people were interested in this story line, needless to say it could almost constitute a game of its own.<div></div>

Isn't that something Varsoon mumbles to you as you stumble into his chamber?I wish more people were interested in this story line, needless to say it could almost constitute a game of its own.<div></div><hr></blockquote>Th Everling family line can be a bit tricky to understand. Rikantus and Alana had two sons, Olix and Maltus. Alana, Olix, and Maltus died tragic deaths, but we don't know what from. Rikantus then marries Theeral who gives him six daughters. These are the six that were slaughtered by Plimptos in the castle. Rikantus and brought the bodies of his first family with him to the castle and laid them to rest in the basement. </div>

<P>Hi,<BR></P> <P>yesterday evening i was curious and grabbed the Idol von Everling, which you get<BR>after completing Nek3 and strolled through the Lands (after taking a look at that webpage mentioned before). </P> <P>First to Maj'Dul, searching for that Merchant Mor'Tael who is described on the Idol itself, finding<BR>the Antiquator Kantus Maj'Dul (slapped myself for not noticing it earlier - Kantus/Rikantus <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> ) in the<BR>Outcasts Ledge.<BR><BR>Normally he sends you to "Seek the Seeker", but if you examine the Ido beforhand, you will utter<BR>a Summoning Spell and something other happens....<BR><BR>----------------------------------------------<BR><BR>『Within thickets of fiend and flesh, through a tunnel beyond death.. Yes ... the rune... the rune is the key" <BR><BR>You say to Antiquitor Kantus Mor'Tael,"The Rune of Sunder? <BR>Antiquitor Kantus Mor'Tael says to you,"You! I know you. The mystery begins with Sunder." <BR><BR>You say to Antiquitor Kantus Mor'Tael,"What is the mystery behide the Rune? Where do I begin my quest?" <BR>Antiquitor Kantus Mor'Tael says to you,"Time is short. The rune is but one . I am ... divided." <BR><BR>You say to Antiquitor Kantus Mor'Tael,"No! Do not go." <BR><BR>---------------------------- <BR><BR>Then i went to the second place, it was the original Rikantus standing on that cemetery in Antonica. <BR><BR>Again i examined the Symbol and talked to him, that's what he said: <BR><BR>---------------------------- <BR>You say, "Hail, Rikantus" <BR>Rikantus says to you, "The rune's family awaits." <BR><BR>You say to Rikantus, "What family?" <BR>Rikantus says to you, "It is a single key of a great ring." <BR><BR>You say to Rikantus, "What do you mean?" <BR>Rikantus says to you, "My thoughts... they fade and focus. I completed the Peacock Series and the was in the Burial chambers so i know about the D'Mortes having their fingers in Akhet Akhen, but i'm absolutely clueless why i had to think about them while trying to solve the Everling Riddle. The Shissar were the inhabitants of Kunark who were driven out by the Greenmist, which freed the Iksar..The Shissar were once thought to be extinct. Instead, they used their magic to relocate to Luclin..And then we found them when Shadows of Luclin came out.(I think, wasn't there.) B) This is just my opinion on it, and unless its already been proven otherwise, I will stand by it! I think it has to do with Kunark, and Kunark either being a) Swallowed up by the sea in a whirlpool or b) Kunark arising from the sea from a whirlpool. And the reason I think it has to do with Kunark is that it uses choice words such as, "Spiraled Serpent"..Along with mentioning the Shissar..Although I guess it would be possible that it has to do with Luclin and the Shissar from there..Just my opinion..Which will either be corrected beyond belief..Or completely skipped over!<span>:robotvery-happy:</span><span>:robotwink:</span></div>

<P>An interesting observation regarding the tinmizer gadgets: The exact same mechanical sentinels are found in the Palace of the Awakened in the Overrealm. So how did the dragons obtain these devices, and how does their ongoing plot fit in with the curse of the Everling family and the Rune of Sunder? I think there is a tie in there....also I noted some mention of the bell of Deathtoll in Rikantus's notes. Any speculation?</P> <P> </P> <P>Also in regard to D'Morte , we know that he is connected to the Living Tombs and Silent City. He went there to learn the secrets of eternal life...or undeath. Isn't this the same thing the Rikantus and Varsoon were looking for, basically? Kantus Mor'tael is one of the shards of the divided Rikantus Everling and it is he that that guides you, albeit cryptically, to go to the Living Tombs, Silent City, etc. to solve the peacock quest, which gives lots of information on the Godking and the powers over life and death that are found in the great city beneath the dunes where the River of LIfe runs. It's obvious to me that Rikantus has a very serious connection with that place as well.</P><p>Message Edited by Sylvrin on <span class=date_text>10-14-2006</span> <span class=time_text>01:06 PM</span>

I strongly doubt they're made by Tinimizer.SOE reuses art assets in order to provide more content (kind of like various instances are differnt parts of the same zone layout -- HoF, the MoA trials, and Labs all use the same 'HoF' zone plan). So they reuse the 'tinimizer' contraption thing in multiple places just because they can have mobs that look like that, and whoever was charged with populating that particular zone with mobs decided "Hmm, I'd like some mobs here... well these spinny-blade things look cool, lets use them!"It's a compromise -- if they have the same amount of art coming in / existing, I'd rather have more content (which can have more quests, more lore, more FUN) than just have about half the content, only have it be unique.</div>

<div></div>To elaborate a bit more on the Shissar-They were a race of powerful snakemen that ruled Kunark. They enslaved the Iksar and held no respect for just about anything, namely the gods. After years of blasphemy and dark rituals a mysterious Green Mist rolled through the lands devouring the Shissar and leaving all other creatures absolutely untouched. It was at this time that the Iksar, freed from their enslavement, began centuries of rule over the lands of Kunark. However, the Shissar weren't completely destroyed, the most powerful cast a spell of teleportation and found themselves on the surface of the Luclin moon. In an attempt to free themselves from the persecution of the Green Mist, they created a vacuum of space referred to as "The Grey" around a pyramid structure that served as there home. The Shissar culture itself is very interesting, they certainly seem to have a grasp on immortality (as many prominent figures of Luclin did) as their own Godking Emperor Ssraeshza hadn't expired after centuries of rule. Thier community was divided up into a caste system within the pyramid: Their political and religious leader Ssraeshza lived at the top, his most powerful warriors and priests occupied the level directly below his, and the more common denizens and slaves worked the bottom tier. They're magic generally revolved around necromancy, and I'm not sure how they propogated their species, if at all. Something else I always thought was interesting: the Sword of Ssraeshza had a bane damage of "extraplanar" which led me to believe that this emperor not only defiled the gods thru ritual, but also directly within their own planes...quite a powerful being indeed.I've looked through a few pictures of the Ssraeshza Temple (the name of the pyramid) and can't really find any definitive symbols that would define their species (mostly just egyptian like hieroglyphs depicting a shissar eating an iksar). I do believe that Rikantus alluded to in his journal that what he thought was the rune of ethemere is actually the rune of vul (or the rune of the void) which is the crossed triangle symbol seen in both his castle as well as the Obelisk. Infact, that was a mistake he thought was quite remarkable and wasn't sure if it wasn't infact sabotage by Varsoon.<div></div>

Again, it is clearly alluded to in Rikantus journal that the "rune of Ethemere" isn't yet known...the rune that they believed to be the rune of Ethemere appears to actually be the Rune of Vul or the Rune of the Void (Vul = Void possibly, but there's no real evidence to support this). The information of the rune was shared between Everling and Varsoon. Infact, Everling believed that Varsoon may have sabotaged his work and given him a false rune, but realised that Varsoon truly thought the rune to be the rune of Ethemere as well when infact it wasn't. This is laid out in the journal (which I haven't compiled, but have read here on these boards) at the end of the 3rd iteration of Nek Castle. If someone doesn't mind posting a link, I'm a little pressed for time. <span>:smileytongue:</span><div></div>

<div><blockquote><hr>1) How long ago did all these people live? According to Vhalen, the castle was created "well before" Lucan came to power...So we're talking 100s of years? From My True Beloved by Rikantus Everling;"Along with Alana came her meager belongings, mostly tricks of her trade. So to,came a personal servant sworn to serve her as a child. The was the wretched Plimptos. I was happy to not only curse the man, but strike his name from my castle. The ancient word for whelp would do nicely, pelleas."Plimptos = PelleasPelleas (Plimptos), servent of Alana, kills the 6 daughters of Theeral. Alana was the most beloved by Lord Everling, then the Dauthers... Wow, this was a messed up family. Is it possible that Plimptos was behind the disappearence of Alana, Ollix, & Maltus?<div></div>

I answer my own question...Again from My True Belived, by Rikantus Everling;"Confining my loved ones until I could free them from their insanity would not last. There came a day when their prison chambers were unlocked. Someone had unlocked the doors and untied their restraints whild I was away on business. Before I could return they had somehow flew into the sprawling maze of streets. One by one their madness led them into horrific accident I refuse to recall. My dreams of replacing a life of cursed curios with the joy of a family was tragically extinguished. I could never prove it,but I felt the mischief of Plimptos."Now my question is...Malthus Everling talks about re-entering the Castle after it was vacant in The Flesh Bound Tome. Does he become haunted by his own Mother and Brother, or is it more than that? <div></div>
