<div>I ran into an strange Erudite (is there any other kind) on the Isle of Aversion recently. He was studying some transportation science, and apparently lost his materials.</div><div> </div><div>He asked me to retrieve them for him, from a Vault. I do so, though how he lost these at certain places makes me question his involvement with those I had to kill to get them. He rewarded me well, and promptly informed me was was off to Odus, before disappearing. </div><div> </div><div>Wish I had logged the full text, but it's gone now.</div><div> </div><div>On a side note, the Quellithulians have been toying with teleportation themselves. They don't have it quite ready yet... and it has some amusing side effects. Had my group laughing for about 20 minutes. </div><div> </div><div> </div>

<div>I wonder why the Quellithulians are so hostile to everyone? You'd think they'd be willing to let outsiders contribute to thier advances in teleportation, just like how we helped the Gate Callers build the spires.</div>

Unless there's something in it for them I doubt they'd ever ask for outside help from the "lesser" races. On a side note Erudin was easily my favorite city. I loved the marble and the oceanside atmosphere. Very Mediterranean.

<div></div><p>I hated Odus for it's low level content, but I LOVED IT for it's visual settings.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Erudin, Kerra Isle, Paineel, and especially Stonebrundt Mountains were some of the best looking zones in the game. What with the sub-tropical setting eventually leading into a massive bamboo forest snow-peaked mountains and waterfalls. Not to mention the panda bears.</p>

<div>The Quellithulians are what the Erudites started calling themselves after the Quellious worshiping Erudites who lived in Erudin, and the Cazic Thule worshipping heretics of necromancers and shadowknights in Paineel put thier differences aside and build a giant temple in Stonebrundt mountains, where they performed a ritual that resulted in transforming every Erudite on norrath into what you see today.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div>The Erudites still call themselves Erudites, because it's too dang much of a word for all the other races to refer to them as Quellithulians.</div>

<div>Odus is the old EQ1 place that interestes me most for a new locale in EQ2. I really hope some expansion in the future rediscovers it. I am especially interested in what magical happenings have occured in the last 500 years. The high amounts of magic that changed the erudites to what they are today must have had some astounding efefcts on the creatures in the area.</div>

<div></div>I spent a LOT of time in Erudin once those clay gating idols came out. I really liked the feeling of being able to visit my far-out-of-the-way homeland regularly. Let's face it, as much as we all like to occasionally roleplay, the inconvenience of having your home city so very far off the beaten path just simply meant you didn't bother going there very often. The other side of the coin is that all the cities were so distant from each other that there really was a sense of mystery and awe when you saw your first player of another race. My first character was a woodelf; I vividly remember thinking how much of a minority high elves were, until I journeyed past Felwithe. When I first saw a gnome, well, that was exciting. They really felt exotic to me. I think he spoke Gnomish gibberish to me, too. Dark elves? Ogres? I didn't see PC versions of them until after the long and fated sea journey from Butcherblock Harbour, and the NPC versions were really just Ambassador Dvinn and those rare ogres in Butcherblock. I don't believe I saw a single Erudite until I was in my 30s.Meh, sorry, too much reminiscing. Having everyone start in one city or another certainly allows you to meet lots of people right away, but I think something huge was lost. The other races are SUPPOSED to be puzzling at best and mysterious at worst. Meeting virtually all of them within 20 minutes of playing just makes the world seem tiny.Convenience is great, but balancing it with immersion is tricky. An addendum: What would be cool is if we could bind to the old cities as they were rediscovered. I'd love for my gnome to actually be based out of Ak'Anon.<div></div><p>Message Edited by Pyrrhonic on <span class="date_text">03-20-2006</span><span class="time_text">10:16 AM</span></p>
