<div></div><div></div><div>I am curious to know exactly how many intelligent races/species exist in all the various worlds of Norrath; (EQ OnLine Adventures, EQ Live, EQ2, EQ RPG)</div><div> </div><div>The criteria for intelligence would include self-awarareness, language, and /or the use of tools,</div><div> </div><div>For instance, the various varieties of Sirens would qualify under the definition because they are capable of speech, and of self-awareness, as well as possessing tools.</div><div> </div><div>Likewise Faries would fall into the same category.</div><div> </div><div>Even Minotaurs (because they use weapons [tools]) would qualify.</div><div> </div><div>The Undead I am uncertain of how to classify;  Some, such as Vampires are highly intelligent;  others like Zombies are merely automatons.</div><div> </div><div>I have a feeling the number is in triple digits.  </div><p>Message Edited by Mary the Prophetess on <span class="date_text">02-19-2006</span><span class="time_text">09:30 AM</span></p>

<div></div><div></div>I'm not sure vampires count as a separate species.  Aren't they just dark elves and humans who have been twisted into bloodthirsty abominations?Maybe we can list all the nonplayable sentients from EQ1, EQ2, and EQOA in this thread, starting with the ones I can remember:AviaksRatmen (not ratonga)KoboldsGnollsOrcs <font size="1">(they SHOULD be playable... would be great city-raid fodder on PvP)</font>Drachnids (where the heck are they??)LizardmenBixiesFairies/Sirens/DryadsGoblinsCentaursTreantsSlish'tar<font size="1">(EQOA-exclusive as far as I know... dirty, pestilent flying -things- with beaks for heads and torn-up wings, built tons of giant nests in desert of Ro)</font>Chik'tar <font size="1">(also EQOA... locust-like creatures who produce honey and have centaur-like builds.  like EQ2's bixies, only locust-like)</font>GiantsCyclopsMinotaursLycanthropes <font size="1">(now where've THEY been in EQ2?)</font>ShissarEvil EyesEttins <font size="1">(probably wrong on their sentience; I think they only exist in EQ2, they might be mere flesh golems controlled by lizardmen)<font size="3">SarnakDragonsHarpiesNaga</font></font><font size="1"><font size="3">Jal'Raeth</font></font><font size="1"><font size="3">DjinnSphinxes</font></font>And what about those purple apes in this game, the Brutes/Huuptics?  Is anything known about them enough to assess sentience?<div></div><p>Message Edited by dalaorn_eq2 on <span class="date_text">02-19-2006</span><span class="time_text">11:33 AM</span></p>

<div>Yes, all scarecrows speak Thulian. Antonica, Thundering Steppes, and Rivervale. They're symbolic with Fear though, as they are called SCAREcrows for a reason.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div>There arn't any plants in EQ2 yet, the Carnivorous Plants in KoS will probably be the first.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Elementals though, are for the most part, artificially conjured up, despite numerous examples far and wide of them existing naturally, but thier explanations are unknown. Yes, they do speak Druziac, the Magic Language, which is what Evil Eyes also speak. Golems speak the same as well.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>And Hobgoblins don't exist on Norrath in EQlive. Only in the Plane of Nightmares, which is why I didn't include them. But you say they're in EQOA, so that's cool.</div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Wow.
