<DIV>As the title seems to read.</DIV> <DIV>I started my Defiler a few days ago for a few reasons:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>1. I have always loved being a shaman type person in MMO's</DIV> <DIV>2. I love to be able to help people out, healing buffing, de-buffing</DIV> <DIV>3. I like the fact that a defiler is not an "<FONT color=#66ff00>over-played</FONT>" class</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>It seems though that everyday that goes by in my leveling process I seem to get more and more bored with it. Some of the reasons could be that I play on the Bazaar server on European time (off time zone) so i have never been in a group to help people out. This leads to the solo ability. Defilers are so good at keeping themselfes alive that in my opinion they are the "Gaurdian" caster class. They can keep taking damage and healing themselfs. It takes a long time to solo though. So I tend to get bored not being in any groups. I do however play with a friend who loves his Warlock. It just erks me to death knowing that my main reason in EQ2 right now is to keep a dang Warlock that is AOE happy alive in each encounter.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>My question is this, should I keep going down the long road of the life of the Defiler Warding a poison hungry hippie warlock? Or should I call it quits and make another class that would compliment the Warlock that is a bit more ... fun outside of a group. I realy dont want to hang up the Defiler but I feel like I am not getting the enjoyment that I should be while paying to play.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>What do you the Defiler family here suggest? No this <FONT color=#cc0033>is not</FONT> a complaint about the class as I think this class is awsome and sounds like fun in groups.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Thanks </DIV>
<P>Defiler is great if you are patient. But it is a LONG road. I'd suggest a Necro to team with the Warlock. You level pretty fast solo or duo as a Necro. I love Defiler but it requires a lot of dedication to get to the end. So if you are having 2nd thoughts this early, roll the Necro.</P> <P> Z</P> <P> </P>

<DIV>Defilers are really good. Wards rock. I two-box with my fury, and they compliement eachother really well. I'd dare to say the main reason you are bored is because, as you say, you play off hours and cant find teams. If you play during EU prime time, just start anew on splitpaw, and you'll be out teaming in no time.</DIV>

<P>Some motivation...</P> <P>Make it to lvl70 and find a raid guild. You will find yourself a key element to raiding sucess. You will be busy not bored. You will sometimes be the one who saves the raid from a wipe (like all healers actually). And your debuffs are pure gold on raids.</P> <P>It's a very rewarding class to raid with.</P> <P>As for the trip to 70? Well its not always fun. Thats why there is a lack of shaman. Many players get a bad initial impression and roll another class. However if you keep on truckin you will find the "light at the end of the tunnel" to be everything you hoped for. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> </P> <P>Atleast it was for me...</P>

<P>Well thanks very much for the info. I think I am going to put my Defiler on hold for a bit. I should be moving back to the US in 2 months then I will pick the class back up and level him on up to the top then. I will keep him on the road to success here and There letting the Experience Bonus keep building up :smileyhappy:.</P> <P>Thanks again for your help in my dilemma</P>

If you do end up playing again at off times, it would really help to do anything and everything you can to up your DPS to make soloing go faster. I've bumped my int up to about 75% of cap and upgraded all my damage/dot spells to Adept 3 or better and that helps fights go much faster. Still not as fast as my warlock would be (all other things being equal), but much faster than it was previously. There are also STR builds that can pump out DPS with the best of them. The best advice I can give you for soloing though, is to mix it up. Move around. Do solo Quest lines. Do HQ's. Kill blue/green heroics. Farm nameds. Do Writs. Anything to break up the monotony. <div></div>

IMO quests are the easiest and quickest way to solo. <div></div>
