Normally I would post my newbie questions in the appropriate forum but I felt like this was the best place for my question. I just got my first two AA points and was curious where you guys thought it was best to distribute them. Should I concentrate on the "Shaman" tree or the "Defiler" tree with my points? What is a solid progression for leveling? I saw in the large AA discussion thread a lot players going the STR / WIS route. Is that still considered a solid spec? Do we get 50 pts per tree or just 50 points in total? Thanks for any replies. :smileywink:

You get 50pts per tree (100 total). Once you spend points in one of the trees they're "Locked" from then on. As far as which tree to spend points in first it really depends on your play-style. Personally I would spend your initial 50 in the Defiler tree as there are a lot of good benefits that you can see early on from that tree. Going with the Shaman tree you have to spend points in just stats for the first little while before you can unlock any actual abilities.

What are you doing most with your Defiler? Solo, Group, Raid?

If you're going the solo route I would spend most of your initial points on the DPS increases (Decaying Line I think). I would get the first 3 dot's then spend points in the Debuffs right after that. (Reducing resistibility and power cost). Debuffs will make soloing a LOT easier for you in the later stages of the game. The reason I wouldn't max the DPS line first is the last couple of abilities you don't get until much later in the game. Depending on your current level you'd be better off spending those points in abilities you have NOW, and re-spec later once you're able to use Defile, and Forced Cannibalize etc.

If you are doing Group/Raid, I'd spec more on the Debuff abilities first. Then your proc lines (Curse of Shielding, and Tendrils). This will give you the most benefit when healing. I'm personally going down the Proc line, and the Line that gives you Soul Ward and spending any remaining points in the Debuff resistibilities.

Hope that made sense!??

Thanks for the speedy reply Duntzzzz. I like to group and raid (I have played WOW since open beta) but I am still a lowbie and a newbie for that matter. I like playing healing classes. I understand that I will have to do quite a bit of soloing until I get some levels and can start grouping consistently. I'm not real concerned about low DPS since most healers I have played haven't had much in the damage department. Thanks again!

Well, if you plan on group/raid. As far as the Shaman Tree goes, I've gone down the STR and INT lines. (Max aura of warding (STR), and Immunities (INT)). This will give you're Dog AOE Immunity, Aura of warding is a good bit of extra healing that's power free, and Immunities maxed will give you and your group +800 to all resists at level 70. I've changed my AA's about 3-4 times and from a raiding aspect this has been the best combination I've found for my play-style.

I'm still undecided on the Defiler tree as to which abilities are going to be the most useful, but I'm thinking it's going to be Hexation and Soul Ward from a raiding aspect. Everything else is pretty much nice to have, but not needed.

Good Luck! =)

kos tree str / agi or str / int wich ever you you feel better suits you i would personaly spec 8 8 melee crits heal crits or virulecence ( debuff ) imunities instead of maxing out aura of warding eof treedecaying / curseingi would go for cannabalize and curseweaving personaly you can mix it up how ever you feel but i feel that cuseweaving is a must have at least but that being said i threw my last 8 points into 5 into bane of protection and 3 into tendrils of horrorthis is all assumeing you raid

Please let me know how much of a difference you see from Curseweaving because I'm tossing between that and Soul Ward. I feel Hexation is going to be an awesome debuff.. eventhough the durration is short, anything that will increase the raids resistability to an AE is a good thing. and it only requires 16 points to get (15 in the line and one on the actual ability) giving you the option of dumping your extra points into the begining of another line (be that DPS, or Debuffs or whatever).
