Hello Folks.. looking for input on choosing whether to stay with a mystic (Lvl 15) or switch over to a defiler.. Any input on the differences between the classes long term would be appreciated. I play with 2 to 3 other people regularly and would be the main healer. My tank would be a Shadowknight. At lvl 15 he is absolutely amazing he can grab 10 even con mobs and AoE tank them to death. My Wife plays a necro. Which class would debuff the best synergy wise with the SK and Necro spells? I love slow i see it as vital feature.. but so far i am finding my mobs are long dead before i get a chance to use it. Mostly for heroic and stronger mobs down the road? Which of the Shaman Classes would be more effective in an AoE Situation? Do any of the two classes have a haste i can put on my melee chars? So far from looking at the spell lists this is what i see as the features of each class : Defiler : Better Debuffs Fun spells i think i like the flavor of the defiler more Canabalize for mana? Direct Heal cost health? Most Slowing Spells but do they stack?? Mystic Better Group Buffs? AoE Slow - This seems to be an Extremely powerful feature. Torpor - Better for healing in the group? <div></div>

<P>What you should really consider is do you want to be good or evil. Because honestly, the Shaman classes are the most balanced I could possibly think of.. Both are excellent healers, buffers, and debuffers.</P> <P>Don't forget that yes, Defilers do not get AE slow, but we do have the tendrils line which procs a LOT, and does both Attack speed and DPS.</P> <P>Personally, from playing both classes, I prefer the Defilers playstyle over the Mystic, but as for healing ability and keeping the group alive, both are fairly equal.</P> <P><BR> </P> <BLOCKQUOTE> <HR> Kallus wrote:<BR>Hello Folks.. looking for input on choosing whether to stay with a mystic (Lvl 15) or switch over to a defiler.. Thank you so very much for replying. I have been trying to browse the forums for past threads on this but tough to find the answered needed.. thank you for the amazing feedback <span>:smileyvery-happy: May i ask what Tendrils is? <DIV>Ive played both also and they do really play out much the same. I went defiler because that was what was needed for our raids (we had 2 mystics in addition to myself so I betrayed.)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I like my warding pet better than my healing pet, but not much different there.</DIV> <DIV>The wards and heals are about the same (although you can heal yourself to death as a defiler)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Better mana regen as defiler</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>I do miss the group debuffs a mystic gets</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The single target debuffs we get are nice though</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If I had to lvl one up again I think Id choose defiler simply because it appears to have a smidgeon more dps than mystic, and on those days you are soloing that really helps.</DIV>

Defiler damage is mostly DoT based? and Mystics have DD damage spells? <div></div>

<DIV>Tendrills is a spell line we have.. it's called Tendrills of _______ (terror/horror/etc..) I can't remember the first level we receive this at!??! Anyhow, it is a single target buff you put on the tank, and every time they are hit there's a chance to proc a pretty heafty slow/DPS reducer on to the mob. It goes off quite a lot, and will proc on anything hitting the tank. it's kind of our version of the AE slow mystics receive, just not as reliable as the proc is random.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We have 3 main DOTS (Not including Malestrom line, and Forced Cannibalize) and one DD. all of these have some sort of Debuff attached to them, so even though they don't do a lot of damage, it's good to keep them up to help the rest of the group hit harder / or slow the mob some more..</DIV>

<P>I leveled my mystic to 70 and then betrayed for the guild as no defilers. Now that I'm a defiler -- there is NO WAY I would go back to being a mystic. I enjoy the defiler debuffs more, the heals, and the absolute inability to run out of power (forced canniabilize at 52). I'm always in the MT group so that the coercer can give my power to the rest of the group (well, that and our mega HP buffs). Our raid tank doesn't need the stats from the mystic buffs, he just needs the raw HPs. </P> <P>Overall, the differences between the classes are pretty minor.</P> <P>FYI: If you want haste, it doesn't matter which class you take -- there is a doggie AA line has haste (STR is a line to take anyway, also the dog can ward and at end of the AA, avoid all aoes). </P>

Thanks again for all your valuable input! Really enjoying the Shaman class now (lvl 16). PS - Defilers are alot more informative and friendly too!! <div></div>
<DIV>Like the previous posts at your level . there is no diff between a mystic or a defiler . you probably wont notice a difference in much until your mid 20's early 30's then the big changes come once your in the 50's with spiritual circle and forced cannibalize. I would choose a defiler just for the forced canni ability . Mystics and defilers are equal healers IMO . Defiler are def geared more for the MT group with thier Raw HP buffs where as mystic has huge stamina bonus and can benefit giving those scouts or clothies lots of stamina for HP . Where as the MT will probably already have the cap and will receive more benefit from the defiler . Also we had the invective line and tendrils line which I use ALOT. The Bane line is highly underated and if used right in a raid can be extremely effective. These are all of course end game points. But at the point you are now you will prolly find youself soloing a bit and the Defiler is a little better off soloing then the mystic IMO you can pretty much render a mob useless with alll your debuffs. Choose wisely !</DIV>
